A big thing as far as the travel goes. Anything nuclear powered (so Aircraft Carriers and Submarines) are EXTREMELY limited in the ports they can pull in to. Submarines you have to volunteer for, so that's pretty easy to avoid if it's not what you want. Carriers, though, are another story altogether. There's very few sea going rates that can't get stationed on an aircraft carrier. And even if you do pick one, a good percentage of the time you're going to be part of a battle group even on a small boy. Also, my recruiters always told me part of the reason for DEP was so you COULD back out if you changed your mind. Until you take that oath at MEPS and sign that contract, you haven't committed to anything. I really did have some good recruiters. I actually walked into the office and said I wanted to join. This was late 2000 so pre 9/11. 19 year old Mormon kid with a 90+ ASVAB so no security clearance issues, no waivers, and I wasn't a dummy. Recruiter basically just pulled out a big ass binder full of all the rates in the Navy and said "pick one." At least until the Nuke recruiter heard about me and gave me the Nuke test. After that I wasn't given a choice lol.
Hey this first time watching and I went to navy recruiting back in January my recruiter was petty officer and he ask me what do I want join or interest in the navy I said I want to be away and focus on my life and career path so he explain some stuff and things I will be doing I had gut feeling that he could be lying or not I'm not sure when i go back I have to ask him about that but also I have ADHD so can I still join even if I have ADHD? I'm 18 by the way
