Good point, they've got great dressy pieces especially the master collection with the engraved dial. Seriously special looking, makes me want to start wearing dress watches more!
Tissot would be a good pick for a budget sensitive enthusiast. They have a big and varied catalog with dress watches and sports watches, both quartz and mechanical and servicing/parts won't be an issue because of the Swatch Group.
When I read the title Omega and Seiko were the 2 brands that immediately came in my mind. If money was not a problem, it would undoubtedly be Omega for me. But with my current finances, it’s Seiko or Citizen!😅
Rolex - they’re reliable, accurate, mostly timeless designs, and one other thing that probably people will hate me for saying this, good resale value. I would be confident that if my watch is passed down to the next generation, it would still be worth a significant amount of money.
Longines forever. I feel like they’re the only brand that’s not “trying to be like another brand” in the public’s eyes(as far as I can tell). -You have a Tudor, it’s you can’t buy a Rolex -You buy a Rolex, it’s because you want a status symbol or get accused it’s fake -You buy an omega, get told Rolex is better or should’ve gotten a Rolex And so on and so on Just seems like when I’m wearing Longines, I get a nod like yeah you know what you got going on.
Agreed. My points above were the general vibe out there. I have a couple Tudors and have gotten many “can’t afford Rolex” type comments 😂 and even from Toyota drivers. Can’t afford Lexus? Haha
@@maitrehgLike Omega watches aren't status symbols with the prices they charge and your second point is total BS I've met plenty of Omega owners that were not watch enthusiast. I swear Omega fan boys think they're soo damn special. Full disclosure it's the Omega fan boys that put me off Omega. They are the most annoying crowd in the hobby
I will always have a Seiko and Omega in the collection but for this question it has to be Seiko because of the endless variety. There is always something new and interesting at any price point with Seiko.
Seiko would be able to handle one brand duty for me if needed and I don't think I'd need to add anymore watches! Maybe we can open it up to only Japanese watches for life😅then I'll be set
For me it's Panerai... for whatever reason out of the 100s of watches I have owned they just "fit" .. Ive had 10 Rolexes and never wear them because they arent comfortable on wrist ... a close 2nd to Panerai would be Breitling which also fit nicely, I guess I like bigger watches
Awesome video bro! 100% i would go Omega as well. Specs-wise what you're getting for the money is unbeatable. I would say the next best thing after the Master Chronometers is probably Spring Drive. The SMP is an absolute tank of a watch
I have too many watches . But if I am forced to sell all except one, it would be my gmt-ii Pepsi . I know it’s a hype watch but it’s really a very cool watch
Based on all the criteria mentioned, only 3 brands can qualify: Longines, Omega, Rolex. Longines might have some issues with wearability due to their typical long lugs and thickness of chronographs, and Rolex for some might not have enough design variations. Omega is the sweet spot.
There’s so many awesome watches omega could make if they wanted to. The planet ocean on those rubber straps in a smaller size would sell like hot cakes. Add the GMT movement it would be a brilliant watch.
If Seiko made better quality watches I’d pick Seiko without a question. But I would probably go with Omega, they have so much variation. Even though I don’t own one right now. Rolex or Cartier could be an option because they are fantastic but they don’t have enough variation.
Omega all the way, i have a decent collection that includes many brands including high end ones, have 4 Omegas which is the highest represented brand in my collection and if i have to choose one watch for life it will be the Speedmaster professional i really love it .
Seiko for me. I mean they have you pretty much covered. 1. Divers ✅ 2. Dress watches ✅ 3. GMT ✅ 4. Chronographs ✅ 5. Solar watches ✅ 6. Mod community ✅ What's not to like
Easily Rolex. Brand that has the most pieces that I would buy, and it would actually be able to last a lifetime. Grand Seiko's all look the same and who knows what a spring drives longevity is. Only three Omega models that I like enough to buy (apart from colour variants) personally and two are Planet Oceans. Hey you had an X33 too 😈✊ Did you have the iPad app for it (think its gone now)? Very Cool. Box is cool too!
You should consider doing a video with a 3 watch collection, 5 watch collection and maybe 8 or 10 watch collection. I have been trying to stay at 6 or below because my watch box holds 6, but with no success. I bought a second watch box so now I can have up to 12 but I doubt I can stay at 12.
You shouldn’t. If you can afford a watch you love just buy it. Just my Casio collection is 12 deep. I thought I had enough diver watch but started to investigate the brand Squale. I finally bought a 1521, it’s a beauty. Never have sold any of my watches. Still have Swatch watches from the 80’s.
You make some very good points. I am always trying to balance consumerism or materialism with minimalism. It is a challenge to live beneath one’s means and having some self constraint…at least for me. I have way too much…lol. Self imposed limitations is one way I attempt to keep balance.
I've thought about this question before and I can never quite decide bc I would miss certain watches but then again something would be missed in every situation! So for me Omega is the way to go given their selection. Maybe I can smuggle in a Seiko or two
I suprised myself by choosing so easily! 1/2/3 watch collections are super tough for me I always keep adding one more up to like 7 lol. But even 7 would be a great number for me (maybe more like 12😅). Omega ftw though it's made me take a second look at their watches and there are a few more on my list now!
@thewatchidiot probably omega its a better choice, for sure, but, I dont know why, I LOVE Longines as a brand. Their designs and the quality/value ratio are insane. Great video as always
I would have to agree with Omega. I have an old 1862 sapphire sandwich Speedy, I have the 'great white SMP300M and a Globemaster pie pan dial in blue. BUT if I was looking at a more accessible brand that I have found very reliable I would have to choose Casio / G-Shock, from the digital squares to super light analogue models from the old Lineage collection plus a whole bunch more. Many thanks for sharing.
Oh nice I didn't know you had a Globemaster! We're pretty aligned when it comes to Omega it seems! I think the Globemaster is probably the most underrated Omega in their lineup I want to try one on to see what's what although it might lead to yet another collection reshuffling lol! Casio would be a good choice considering it's got everything from gshock to the Oceanus line to everything else in between!
@@thewatchidiot The Globemaster was my first Omega from quite a few years ago. I actually got mine new in a sale before everything went mad. There was talk a while back of it being discontinued. Well it's still on the Omega web site to purchase today but nearly double what I paid. Better prices for used examples as you mention the Constellation is not the most popular line from Omega. This would be the watch that I would sell last if I had to sell the whole collection.
Nice video, did you consider cost of the brand? If you can only wear a single brand for the rest of your life it also means that you'll have to purchase from that brand every time you want a new watch
Rolex gets a lot of hate, but I believe that this hate is not directed toward their watches but toward their ADs and the hype surrounding the brand. If I had to choose one brand, it would be Rolex. My Explorer, DJ and Explorer II are already an incredible trio, but would I still have the Submariner, GMT Master II and more. That being said, I hope this scenario never happens.
If budget is not a factor, Omega for all the reasons you state. I like a lot of Rolex designs but hate the idea of them being status symbols. With Omega I could have the new white Speedmaster saphire Pro, Seamaster 300 in black and the black lacquer Aqua Terra in 41mm and be set with a 3 watch collection.
I’ve have had a Rolex Sub for 30 years, I never thought about it as a status symbol. I use to wear it every day for 15 years. I take the train to work but the crime rate has increased, so I stopped wearing it on the train. My train watches are Seiko and Casio.
How is an Omega not a status symbol with the prices they charge. A very odd take both Rolex and Omega are status symbols. Your talking like Omega watches are 1k
Perhaps it’s just my perspective but everyone seems to know Rolex watches but most people have never heard of Omega that are outside of watch circles. I know people who own and wear Rolex and aren’t even into watches. They wear them for status. Again, this is only my perspective and others may think differently.
Its quite hilarious how people just love to hate Rolex. That's the price of popularity i guess. The one problem i have is describing their watches as "boring"? I think Rolex watches are gorgeous myself and would have their whole range before i considered those plain jane Omegas.
My Rolex submariner. The omega, Seiko, GS, and any watch that doesn’t have a Tfit on the fly adjustment. I couldn’t find myself wearing a watch without it. That would be torture as I work out in the street and my wrist would expand throughout the day. Omega and others refuses to listen to its customers.
This comment makes me wonder how people survived without on the fly micro adjustments for decades. With no issues whatsoever. Fast forward to now and people can't survive without on the fly micro adjustment. They have to adjust their watch 3 times a day. I wonder when the hobby got soo needy
If Omega had a good GMT? …But not, and thus I would choose Rolex just because the GMT Master 2 is perfectly awesome. …Oh and they also have a decent diver, a popular chronograph, field watches called Explorers, and a dress down and dress up Date Just. Not boring at all.
Omega. Because my 1967 Speedy is my holy grail. Never underestimate the power of holy grails th-cam.com/video/A0TalLrtZ24/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rg8RyJesN4hsBHpg
I'm gonna choose Longines. I'm not a sporty person, and I like that most of their watches lean more toward dressy than sporty.
Good point, they've got great dressy pieces especially the master collection with the engraved dial. Seriously special looking, makes me want to start wearing dress watches more!
Amen. Love love love Longines.
Agreed.
Omega. Or Longines. Great video sir!
It's out of my budget but I would go for Omega.

I cannot believe you didn’t say Seiko. Great video and solid reasons.
Tudor or omega for me
For me the best mid tier brand is hands down ORIS so many great designs 😊
Rolex - they’re reliable, accurate, mostly timeless designs, and one other thing that probably people will hate me for saying this, good resale value. I would be confident that if my watch is passed down to the next generation, it would still be worth a significant amount of money.

Omega would be for me love them , but the smart choice going forward would probably be the Apple Watch it does everything well but looks terrible
Seiko, even though it does not offer the highest quality, best design, or best value. They're a good B+ across the board and durable.
Do you think you would acquire a SPB483J1 and make a video of it?
I actually would go Seiko - and the bracelets would be aftermarket.
Easy, Grand Seiko.
Seiko if you’re allowed to include Grand Seiko and maybe even Credor…other than that I’d personally go Tudor 🐲🔥
Same as me 🤝
I own an Eichi II, a SBGA001 and a SLGW005. I will be totally fine with these three pieces for whole life.
how many watch you have so far now
Good choice on Omega. Just a pity that one has to sell a kidney to service one.
A toss between Swatch and Casio
Longines
Seiko. And 100 other brands for straps and bracelets.
Hypothetically, watch addicts cannot survive with only 1 brand. That is why I won't be able to answer this question.
Citizen. They make something at every point and do it well.
Seiko/Grand Seiko/Credor for me, if they are considered as "one brand"
