I altered the firewall to suit the engine and with 2x 2s 2000mah packs in the fuz under the pilots, the cg worked out perfectly. No lead was needed. I’ve since added a carbon baffle in the front of the cowl supplied by www.rcmodelcomposites.com/saito-four-stroke-baffles/ Looks great.
I'm getting ready to build my Phoenix Waco F5C... wass debating the Saito FG19 but then i saw yours with the 33... how did the CG work out with the extra weigth? any recommendations would be great!
Neil Jarvis thanks for the reply, Neil. I would imagine you could pull straight up verticals and hover with that setup. I’d like a bit of over power as well. Thinking if I can stuff a Saito 150b in there should be good. The 125 might be a bit more on the scale end of power. I’ll have to check out the dimensions of the cowl and motor.
Looks like a wonderful flying airplane
Nice flight. I’ve got the exact same build. Having trouble with the tuning. Could you tell me the prop and rpm your getting? Please and thank you
I am using a 16 x 10 plastic grey graupner propellor. I can't remember the rpm.

Could it fly fitted with a 61 glow engine?
Hello, FG33R3 It is a powerful and good sound
Hi, yes, it’s perfect. Good loops and great sound. I didn’t add any lead to balance and the auw is 13.1lb.
@@neil4rc Is the engine reliable? I have read on forums some of those Saito radials tend to fail. Any recommendations when tuning or fuel selection?
@@mracovntname3701 The engine has always been great, in fact I have two which both run well. I use Stihl synthetic at 5% with unleaded petrol.
Fantastic flight and sound, great looking kit.
Do you think a Saito 125aac would fit and be enough power?
I don't know the dimensions or output of the 125, but the 33 is slightly over powered.

Surprisingly the FG33 is less powerful than that, but does fly the Waco well.@@Gary1H
I am doing the same exact build and I can't seem to figure out how you did the mounting. Could you send me some pictures?
I don’t have any photos but it involved reducing the firewall back and strengthening the area before giving it a coat of paint for protection.
@@neil4rc Thank you. You basically removed the box and mounted it flat to the main structural plate with the square hole cut out?
Gaston Catta No, I think it involved partial removal and then filling with ply.
No this is the smaller 15cc version
Is this the 72" wingspan?
Did you had to mod the intake manifold?

No, all standard.
