Yes, John had flats on his and he used the P-90 pickup live and in the studio. Think of I Feel Fine, that's exactly what it sounds like with flats. There's a video on my channel of I Feel Fine. I used the J160 pickups into a Vox AC30 on it's cleanest channel.
