    I have no interest in acars at all but I watched the whole video purely because of your presentation. Your chatty, informal style is very watchable. Nice work.

    This video popped up in my recommendation list, I had no idea what ACARS was and after you said what it was I thought that's of little interest to me. But! I then saw a couple of comments about cmake and thought that might be something I'd be more interested in. So after watching this video (excellent by the way) I had a look at what else is on the channel and discovered that it's a goldmine of knowledge w.r.t everything networking! A subject I know very little about but would like to know much more about. So time for me to get comfortable because I've got A LOT of videos to watch and learn from now; I've already done three after watching this one, so a huge thanks for making so much great content! .. I just had to come back and comment as well as feed the algorithm. 😀

    Nice! If you are doing requests, how about some LoraWAn stuff? I found this video by Andreas Spiess interesting where he alluded to using a pi + Lora Concentrator to become part of the Helium network. Given the lack of prebuilt hardware I think it would be interesting to go the diy route. Yes? No?

    This was a terrific instruction on cmake...I have done a few, but never understood the process till now!

    You made my life so much easier with cmake man, thanks. Sometimes it just takes a little nudge in the right direction!

    Great tutorial! I went wrong with the folder structure but I'm now a little bit higher up the learning curve!

    Good tutorial indeed. What kind of antenna are you using?

    When you connect your SDR to an antenna, do you need a different antenna for each frequency?

    • @eliotmansfield
      @eliotmansfield 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ideally yes for best results. Our man here is using a discone which covers a wide range of frequencies which is handy when you not sure what you feel like playing with. Best results will always be obtained using an antenna tuned to the frequency of interest. For example adsb is 1090Mhz and a discone isn’t going to much good for anything other than a plane directly overhead - but you can make a coax colinear for adsb, i’ve got 200miles reception from one.

    Hi, take care of that power converter for powering the pi. It might be very noisy. Ideally you could try a powerbank even though some are good some are also noisy.

    "log messages will tell you everything you need to know." Said no "msdn", winapi, or developer ever. 🤣.
    The ambiguity or RFC jargon in some messages is terrible. It's not able to connect, neither side agree... Oh, one of the hexadecimal values on that SIM card were encoded in decimal instead of hex by the sim software.... And this problem only appears in very specific handoff type situations under the right planetary-alignment conditions, no logs tell you why it's not working, it just can't authenticate!
    Hah.
