  • Hello, and welcome to my channel.
    In today's video I will take you into how I renovated a spare room, and turn it into a Home Movie Theater. When you are remodeling always try and stick to your budget. I spent a little over 3K on the renovation. Below are the prices I paid for all the items.
    I am not a professional, I learned thru trial and error, I enjoy turning rooms into something totally different. Please enjoy!

    I think you did a good job of saving money. $3000 for an entire room makeover is not a lot... especially for a home theater.

    It's not about how much money you've got. It's all about skills, and you got plenty of them. Well done!
    Next upgrade suggestion: you can set up a home theater sound surround system for 500 bucks. You can get an AV receiver for 250 and 5 speakers for 250. That would make the experience of watching a movie so much better. Enjooooy!

      Nice job, you are very handy. Awesome theater and great way to use a spare room. I agree with the poster above. I went for years without 5.1 surround sound. It completely elevates the movie experience and becomes the biggest feature of the theater. I wish i had upgraded my theater to surround sound years ago! Nowadays, costco has some very good starter sets if you want something simple. If you go that route, I suggest doing research first- especially with respect to receivers (and number of speaker/locations). Very cool room, especially with the lights. Nice job on the screen!

      You could do a theatre for a lot less money and just focus on AV gear at first and then do the room up afterwards.
      Do not rule out TV's as they can have a large size as well.

    • @UnboxingWithErra
      @UnboxingWithErra  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bighands69 You are right!! A large TV definitely could be purchased vs the projector, if that’s what one likes. Me personally I wanted the movie screen and projector (I love going to the movies, since I wasn’t able too last year, this was the closest I got to the movies 😊). It costed me right at 200 bucks for the projector and the homemade screen.

      It is all about personal choice and if you can afford a projector and theatre room it can be a great choice.
      For many people in the lower budget ranges a good 55 or 65 inch TV in their living room or a spare room an be a great option as well.
      The advantages of projectors is the size of their screen disadvantage is that their image is not as bright as a tv screen nor are black levels as good as an oled or plasma.
      It depends what you watch on the screen as well. I have home theatre room with 7.2 and 130 inch screen but I still will use my plasma as a reference screen to watch certain types of movies.

    • @UnboxingWithErra
      @UnboxingWithErra  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! 😀 192sq ft is the size of the room. To seal the windows. I had two pieces of Sheetrock and measured it. I basically patched it like a hole. I’m not a professional, so it probably not correct, but it worked for me. 😂 my window has my projector screen on it, so I had to make sure no light was coming in. Once we installed the Sheetrock, I went back filled any holes. Lay down the mud, and sanded it down and painted. Didn’t take long because my windows are not big. I did buy installation from home depot to put inside the windows for sound, but I didn’t end up using it. A year or so in, I don’t think it would’ve made a difference. I hope this was helpful.
