I know i am a bit late, but i just finished this game today before moving on to Alan Wake 2. Can somebody explain what former was doing in a side mission and we had to do a boss fight and why in the foundation DLC he suddenly become our friend.
It was explained tho I don't remember correctly. He attacked us coz he didn't knew us back then but in the dlc he saw Jesse getting pushed around by the board and former was a former board member but got terminated for unknown reasons so he hates the board. He helped jesse to gain her trust but as jesse freed the board they kinda barricaded the former before he could talk to jesse again. He will return in control 2.

according to alan wake community alan new characters nhi bna sakta as jo hona hai wo toh hota hi hai but Alan can link all the characters and events through his writing.
Sorry to say but Series X explains the story very easily ...you mix up stuff and make confusion 10 minutes into your video and I was lost.. switched to series X and understood everything Same for Alan wake game
