This is truly a terrible experience-too many people. As one of the most famous tourist spots, people from all over China gather here. If you're lucky, you'll encounter fewer crowds, but if not, it will be like what you experienced. As a Chinese person, I personally avoid such crowded places. However, judging from the video, this number of people seems normal. Most travelers can only understand the scale of China's population through firsthand experience

zhangjiajie, like the great wall or any super publicized tourist attractions in China, is a hit or miss when it comes to crowd, because they really dont have off seasons. Personally, if I saw that queue, I wouldve rescheduled and goto another site and come back at another day.

If you come to the American west, visit Bryce Canyon National Park for a miniature version of Zhanjiajie! :)
I visited this place about 2 years ago, but there were fewer people because there were many limits to people because of Covid -19. I think you had better travel from Monday to Friday if you want to have a good experience, because, you know, plenty of tourists are everywhere especially when it’s on the weekend or holiday.
The most beautiful mountain in China is Huang Shan, and there are many hotels on the top so you can stay overnight for the sunrise, and the best thing is it’s by appointment! you really should go if you visit China again.
@ You are welcome. Remember don’t visit Huangshan on weekends or any Chinese holidays or in the morning, after all, it is one of the most famous tourist attractions in China😂
You probably chose the wrong day, because I don't want to believe that everyday is like this,or maybe the time you chose. I watched a few other vlogs where it wasn't this crowded.
The hot spots are like this, no way, the views are the ultimate, I went there 20 years ago, even the Chinese themselves try to avoid the crowds. Since visa-free, it's a must-visit, especially for South Korean tourists. Slow down and you'll have a different experience. Tour companies will also recommend mature scenic spots, there are more items to charge, the tour companies are profitable, and there are plenty of attractions to explore in China. Experience is accumulated, have a good trip!👍👍👍

Sad you didn't have a good time. Lots of videos on zhangjiajie that avoid the crowds so it is nice to see a video that shows you can't just go whenever and avoid the crowds. This park is a top destination for me as well; so you probably saved me from the same experience. Your sacrifice will not be in vain.
Yeh we didn't see any crowds in any of the other videos we saw, which is exactly why we went. Just got very unlucky I guess. If you go just allow 3 or 4 days to see everything to compensate for potential queues like that. Thanks for watching 😃
I do feel sorry that you were caught in a chaotic crowd which can't have been pleasant. But to then encourage others to "avoid" the place on your thumbnail is no different from giving a hotel a bad rating simply because the hotel happened to be full of raucous, drunken football hooligans during your stay. I visited Zhangjiajie a few years ago and enjoyed my time there. It was in early December, misty which enhanced its otherworldliness, and the place wasn't packed at all . But then again it wasn't a Korean tourist magnet at that point either.
I don’t think Zhangjiajie National Park need to worry about us leaving a bad review 😂 We want to share the reality of what our experience was like. That way people can prepare for the queues, or even better, plan it better than we did and have a much nicer experience.

Local Chinese should give chance to foreign tourist for this type of destination. After all the local can visit anytime as it is in their own country. @@chengruzhang7001 I get it, but it should limit the number of tourists per day like Adam said. It's only for the good of everyone (Chinese or foreigners). The management should come up with a plan and mechanism to systematically manage the crowd per day.

Zhangjiajie park management, please take note. More options, more free exploration, less hiking, less loudspeaker noise without respite, less queueing. More park facilities and options to stay or travel by night, rather than try and squeeze everything in daylight hours - and you will get return visitors who actually enjoyed the place, as opposed to people vowing never to return and telling an average 7 people how awful it all is. The reason to visit is to enjoy and appreciate.
You silly traveller, every visitor knew China is crowded except both of you. No one is forcing you to tour China, you can always not return, it's your choice.

I've actually been to ZJG myself in Easter, only had 2 days so I only saw the Tianmen mountain (1.5 hr queue for the cable car) and the Grand Canyon (no queue), ran out of time to see the actual mountains like you guys, didn't know it could be like that😂 18:08 That glass bridge in the Grand Canyon is actually pretty awesome, there's a Zipline/ really long metal slide downhill and a really pretty canyon down a riverside to walk on. Let's do maths, trim down the population in China to 1 billion, Suppose 1/5 is employed and afford to local travel only , then 1/20 of them would bring along 1 travelmate, what would be the number of entree if divided by say 2000 scenic spots. Remember there are also travellers from nearby countries, let's trim down to 100 per day from just 1 nearby countries, excluding tour groups, that is not insane anymore. Additionally, it will continue to get more views in the future. I really love u guys and your content, keep going~
Just so you know. Your Zhangjiajie National Park Tickets are valid for 4 consecutive days. So if you didn’t manage to see everything on day 1 you could easily go back again the next day hopefully with less crowds.
Yeh we know, but we only had 2 days and after what happened the first day, we didn’t want to go back again 😅
@@adamandyaz Which is such a shame. The was a very magnificent park. You were unfortunate to go at a time when there's so many tourists and I think quite a no of foreign tourists there are S Koreans. You didn't realise u prob thought they were locals since they don't look much different. I was there a yr ago and it wasn't this crazy crowded. With an ever increasing middle income group in China, there will also be a lot more domestic tourists. Domestic tourism is a big thing there in China, so be prepared for the crowd even if you don't S korean groups there, lol...
zhangjiajie, like the great wall or any super publicized tourist attractions in China, is a hit or miss when it comes to crowd, because they really dont have off seasons. Personally, if I saw that queue, I wouldve rescheduled and goto another site and come back at another day.
We didn't have that option in our schedule unfortunately, we specifically chose this time because that's when most of the websites recommended to go. Oh well, we kind of saw it at least haha
Of all the you tubers with videos
I have seen go to this place in the last few years. Yours was by far the worst crowded
Definitely need to limit even more on how many people can go to this site
With an attraction like this less is more
They need to create a limit on how many people can go there. This is crazy, I would have gone back after seeing the crowd, lol. Maybe they should create a booking system@@FAFORednickincell
never seen a video of this place this crowded. Probably some recent social media hype got everyone flocking to this place.
Neither did we, that’s why we went 🤣
lol I remember going there 10 years ago, it was definitely not as crowded as this
You are so lucky to have seen it then!
@@adamandyaz Definitely, it was a family member who booked everything, we had our own tour guide and car😂
when I went to Zhangjiajie in 2018 with my kids who were on summer holiday, we got up early to avoid the crowd, but we still need wait for 1 hour at the entrance, after that it's okay. but now seems it gets worse now.
Sorry for the Korean tourists there, might consider coming there next time after the Korean visa free period expires ^_^
Thirty years ago I had met a couple of English couple in Zhangjiajie when I traveled in, not yet the view of Avatar.
I was there in winter around Christmas. I didn't see the lush green version in Avitar, but it was more memorable to enjoy the sureal beauty in snow. We didn't take any lifts and hiked the scenic routes. This is the best way to see the park.
It must have been so quiet during Covid and a completely different experience!
We went on a Wednesday and it wasn’t a public holiday either. Crazy!
人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人人 do you know what does “人” mean? 人=people!❤
It is the National holidays season...😂😢 never never..on public holiday😂
It wasn't a public holiday...
@@adamandyaz when is that day exactly?
The most beautiful mountain in China is Huang Shan, and there are many hotels on the top so you can stay overnight for the sunrise, and the best thing is it’s by appointment! you really should go if you visit China again.
We will take note, thank you 🙏🏼
@ You are welcome. Remember don’t visit Huangshan on weekends or any Chinese holidays or in the morning, after all, it is one of the most famous tourist attractions in China😂
It could have been organised better but it is hard to satisfy everyone. People can take a walk along the track rather than waiting for the bus.
We were told you HAVE to take a bus in between each place 😳
@ you don’t have to but the pathway can be a bit challenging, lots of stairs. I really enjoyed it though.
We have pay 100 Rmb extra for each person to avoid the queue.
You guys waited hours just to see some tall rocks?
In a nutshell... yes.
visit Zhangjiajie during the Winter, just few people there
Maybe next time, I bet it’s magical in the snow ⛄️
You probably chose the wrong day, because I don't want to believe that everyday is like this,or maybe the time you chose. I watched a few other vlogs where it wasn't this crowded.
We went on a Wednesday at the end of October like a a lot of websites recommend to 🤷
The hot spots are like this, no way, the views are the ultimate, I went there 20 years ago, even the Chinese themselves try to avoid the crowds.
October wrong time, its the most hustle and bustle period of all year, go to no where but stay at home during summer holiday period and October
All the websites we checked said the best time was mid-October to mid-November 🤷
@@adamandyazfrom weather and temperature, truly it is, but October always crazy cuz the national day vacation and everybody want to take a travel enjoy the beautiful autumn😂
That's super crazy to see so many tourist on a weekday! I think you've done your research well, sometimes it's just not meant to be.
I've been there like 15 years ago and the crowd was more manageable. And we got more time so we took the 3-hour walk through the river valley. It was a really tranquil experience.
Yeh we got pretty unlucky because we know a few people who went when it was "peak" time and they didn't have any problems. I guess if you're going to go, be prepared to wait a lot and have a few days to compensate for that haha
I would go to Huangshan yellow mountain instead. If not in a public holiday, the amount of people is manageble. Or go to Zhangjiajie in winter lot less people and still beautiful.
Lot’s of Korean travel to Zhangjiajie
8:51 i don't think that's what's really like everyday, I saw someone been there couple of months ago, and it was not that busy. It's the Korean tourists flu in recently due to visa free
Best it’s don’t go those place when is on high season in China..coz it will be lots of people there and its mad ..best time to travel in China is in April ..if you really want to see the best of China..anyway hope you both enjoy your time in China ❤peace
Thanks for your honesty! Very proud of you both. Try to find time to rest up for a few days. Snowdonia awaits you upon your return - without the crowds. Best wishes from Wales. Diolch o galon.
We love Snowdonia! ❤️ 🏴
the park should consider controlling the ticket, to improve everyone's experience. but it looks like they only consider making more money☹
Such a shame 👎
It could be a disaster when it's crowded!
It was a bit scary sometimes, especially on the steep steps
China tourism sites visitors majority came from china itself from different parts of china.Imagine their population, what to expect
我在节假日从来不出去旅游!因为所有景点人都很多!😀❤️
haahaahaahaa、chaotic but really interesting、cant help laughing😂
Thank you, always trying to provide a good laugh no matter the situation 🤣
Feel bad for you both in the chaos queues. Not always like this, I guess that was just a perfect time for everyone to go there😮. Try do some homework before going to those most popular destinations. Well, it is also interesting experience in china. We had those experiences for whole life, you guys just one day. Not the end of the world
You should go early morning. Less crowded.
We arrived an hour after it opened, don't think it would have made much of a difference
即使是中国人也会避开人山人海的张家界!😂
In a country of 1.4 billion people you need to expect crowds
We did… but not 7 hours worth of crowds…
等再过几年,这些人发现了川西和新疆,不是要晕倒?!!
Reminds me of when I went to see the Terracotta Army on a public holiday 😂 it was so crowded I smashed open a fire exit door and exited! I agree on capping the amount of visitors! Such a shame about your experience but at least I know not to go now!
You should go because the landscape was incredible but don’t do the same route we did!
That's actually quite funny
😂😂😂
👍👍👍
wow...there are a lot of local and korean tourists! not sure if you are travelling during a public holiday in china or something, but don't go to any, by all means any tourist spots in china during any china's holiday! coz you gonna experience 1.4 billion people in full force. also, china is now opening up, apparently just of today I heard they extended the 144 hour visa free policy to 2xx hours, so it's gonna be even worse. it's important to take fair criticism, I hope the government in that province take note!
Please post from Lijing Old Town and Blue Moon Valley
Bro, you chose one of the worse periods of go which is close to the Golden Week. So, don't complain much. 😅😅
Golden week was 1st - 7th October. We went 23rd… bro 👍
Right, I think they have already avoided the golden week. It just so unfortunate that it’s still that many tourist. It’s so bad
i
@@adamandyazif you want to critique a place that’s fine but if you put yourself on a public platform expect a response! Don’t complain when people are funding your jolly’s or you could always return to the uk and get a real job?? Nah didn’t think so 😂pair of snobs your videos are crap anyway all you do is whinge
Those queues! 😱 would've put me off going in in the first place 😅
Oct is never a good option😂 its Chinese national holiday! everyone went out for travelling😂
Most websites say the best time to visit is mid-October to mid-November… this was more than 2 weeks after the most recent public holiday 🤷 thank you for watching 👍
that is why i never visit such place as a 32 years old Chinese
I am laughing so hard when I saw those queues. Very typical scenario.
😂😅
@@adamandyazqueues are authentic Chinese experience. I once waited for 2 hours queue just to get into a new open Costco in China! Its not about zhangjiajie's management. This happens to every trending place in china!😂
hahaha full of korean language, most of tourists there you meet are koreans.
Would you have been able to walk between some locations in the park rather than waiting for buses?
gotta avoid peak season at any chinese major attraction 🤣
you could have saved some money and queuing by walking up the mountain lol. takes a couple hours but you avoid all the tour groups.
Even national holiday was passed. But there is still lots of people who delay their trip to avoid national holiday's high peak. Now I think you have a truely understand the population in China and the so call Chinese English "people mountain people sea ". 😂😂
Its worlds longest cable car.😊
Haha it felt like it!
Local Chinese should give chance to foreign tourist for this type of destination. After all the local can visit anytime as it is in their own country. The foreign tourists came from far place, had to spend more money, they might not get another chance to visit again, might not get Visa Free Pass next time or have to go through a very painful visa process!
China has some of the most beautiful places on earth.. but they are always too crowded with domestic tourist.. and man! the local tourist very loud, especially the loud speaker by tour guide.. 📢 😫. China should ban loud speakers in tourist place, they spoiled the whole experience of the place! If not ban, at least tone down the volume by 90%.
Thank you for understanding! It was extremely hectic. We don’t need or want to be treated any differently to local tourists though, they just need to limit the number of tourists they allow in per day so everyone can have a more pleasent and peaceful experience 🥰
You know China is huge, most of us Chinese also visiting some place like that only once in lifetime
@@chengruzhang7001 I get it, but it should limit the number of tourists per day like Adam said. It's only for the good of everyone (Chinese or foreigners). The management should come up with a plan and mechanism to systematically manage the crowd per day.
欢迎访问潘多拉星球🎉
Never go to China in holiday during national holidays or close to these days
10 October is national day in china
You were just unlucky
10/01 is the National day for People of Republic of China (PRC), 10/10 is the National Day for Republic of China (ROC, aka Taiwan) .......
We went 23rd October. At least two weeks after the public holiday - most websites say mid-October to mid-November is the best time as well 🤷
Reminds of when I went to a supposedly secluded beach in the Philippines
Bunch of websites recommended it
When I got there there was 3 boat docks dropping off 30 people on each boat every 3 minutes
I think everyone was following the instructions of those websites 😂😂😂
Well, maybe you came at the national holidays season, the first ten days in October or in May 1st Holiday season, never also go during Chinese New Year Spring 2 weeks festive days, you will be mutilated! Hahaha. We as Chinese don't go challenge and face the canning machine ourselves, let along hope foreign tourists enjoying the experience. Remember, do not travel on these festive holiday seasons.
Nope… it was 23rd October 👍
feel sorry for u. bad time. huge crowd.
😢I support your opinion, it's fucking crowded.
So so crowded 😅
atheism is religion same like all other religions the only difference is that all other religions are based on the belief of god's existence while atheism is based on the belief of god's non existence
the underlying theme for them all is belief not truth
truth don't become lies and lies don't become truth regardless of what any one thinks or believes
ignorance is the source of evils
beliefs are the symptoms of ignorance

Zhangjiajie park management, please take note. More options, more free exploration, less hiking, less loudspeaker noise without respite, less queueing. More park facilities and options to stay or travel by night, rather than try and squeeze everything in daylight hours - and you will get return visitors who actually enjoyed the place, as opposed to people vowing never to return and telling an average 7 people how awful it all is. The reason to visit is to enjoy and appreciate.
You silly traveller, every visitor knew China is crowded except both of you. No one is forcing you to tour China, you can always not return, it's your choice.
Why are you so critical of them? Why are you so mean-spirited? Adam and Yaz are wonderful well educated young people. I’m old enough to be their father and very proud of them! They are taking us all on board their epic journey for us to enjoy. They don’t sugar-coat their traveling experiences they say it as it is. That’s why they’re highly rated and people like me follow them. Best wishes to you.
You are overacting bro. They are enjoying their trip in china overall so far. Stop being mean.
Bro show some manner at least, they are literally telling the truth, given that they paid like 100 pounds to visit it however spending most of their time in queues, but ur blaming them for their review-like comments instead of the fact that the attraction was actually overcrowded?
I think you are too sensitive for this. Is it not nice for people give positive advices so we could figure a way to change it ?
Damn that queue sure looked insane! Might've had something to do with Golden week in Oct. I've actually been to ZJG myself in Easter, only had 2 days so I only saw the Tianmen mountain (1.5 hr queue for the cable car) and the Grand Canyon (no queue), ran out of time to see the actual mountains like you guys, didn't know it could be like that😂
18:08 That glass bridge in the Grand Canyon is actually pretty awesome, there's a Zipline/ really long metal slide downhill and a really pretty canyon down a riverside to walk on. It's definitely worth a visit in my opinion another time. Tianmen mountain too!
The Furong Ancient Town and Phoenix Town was also really beautiful, only a half hour train ride away. Hope your next visit would be less busy and that they control the amount of tickets better.
Thank you for watching and understanding it from our perspective 😃 this was October 23rd so middle of the week and almost 3 weeks after the most recent national holiday, so we didn’t expect any issues but that’s how it goes sometimes. Glad to hear we weren’t the only ones haha 😅
@@adamandyazGotcha yeah Oct 23 normally shouldn't be this insane. Then yeah it really is an issue with crowd control on their end for letting so many people in🤔
Oh well at least you can tick this place off the bucket list, the surrounding sights I mentioned are worth a see on another trip😄
@ well definitely check them out, thanks 🤙
@@adamandyazone reason why you guys stumbled into such insane queue is that almost every retired groups of people pick up the middle day of week to travel to get a cheap tour…tourist companies like to arrange that 😢😢 from your footage I could see those groups…unlucky day for you…hope you have more cosy tour ahead..😂and as a Chinese I really get that frustration feeling when we are traveling
Only because most of them flock to the well-known and heat hot spots make the situation looks unbearable and chaotic.😮
u r part of the crowd so u have no right to complain since u should complain yourself
We literally said we would have been happy to not be able to go if they capped the amount of tickets sold and it was sold out on the day / week / month we wanted. Watch the video before commenting 👍
