Little clarification Ukraine didn't have "Soviet-era army" before February 24, in fact Russia does now. The chains of command there remain the same, while in Ukraine army evolved and became more efficient and less centralized. This happened after Russia''s first invasion in 2014 when it was clear that army needs deep reforms and reforms it had.

It's what we always see from the US, permanently getting their arses spanked all over the world, and not even against military capable countries, but manly countries once considered the Third World. Is there something wrong with you, maybe? Or do you just have no idea about the USA's real history in wars?
Transforming them into radicalized Nazis for sure, we all know that, but as a fighting force? HILARIOUS! Who are you trying to kid?

Americans only ever talk like they have a military history like Great Britain or something as hilariously stupid and bizarre! I mean, that's so wrong, It's only hilarious hearing them.
The United States has one of the very worst, and easily the most cowardly military record of any country on earth. Yet read the Americans? You can be forgiven for thinking they're awesome after reading them, LOL, It's most bizarre!
The United States was founded in 1776, (even that's a lie, LOL). She's been at war for 226 out of her 246 calendar years of existence. In other words, there were only 20 calendar years, in which the U.S. did not wage any wars.
The Wars waged were never against a militarily capable country, but only countries considered the Third World. And any resistance from those countries, always saw the USA lose!
Pick any year since 1776, and there's a 91% chance that America was involved in some war during that calendar year, and a 73% chance they lost it.
No U.S. president truly qualifies as a peacetime president. Instead, all U.S. presidents can technically be considered “war presidents.” The U.S. has never gone a decade without war. The only time the U.S. went five years without war (1937-42) was during the isolationist period (cowardly period) of the Great Depression.
Since the 2nd World War, the USA has started 201 armed conflicts, with around 40-50 million (mostly civilian casualties). And usually based on false premises/lies. (And failed in most). This is more than 2 conflicts, started based on nothing more than lies and propaganda, per year. Just Awesome! LMAO!
So, how many wars have the English and British fought and Won?...
      England 53 Wars: 44 Victories: 4 drawn: 5 Lost: from 939 to 1707
      British Empire & Great Britain 84 wars: 75 victories: 2 drawn: 7 Lost: from 1707 to 2016
Total: = 137 Wars: 119 Victories: 6 Draws: 12 Lost (most to France): In Wars over 1077 years = a war on average every 12 years. (One of the greatest modern day military records on Earth).
Britain is the only country in the world that's always fought for the people's freedom against every attempt at tyranny in our world's modern history. Whether tyranny over Europe, or over the world, Britain has always fought against it, and is unbeaten doing so.
So many times Great Britain saved Europe throughout history, not only in WW2, but many times before. With the defeat of Napoleon, being just one. Great Britain, with Prussian support, defeated Napoleon, he defeated everyone else.
Spain, the world's superpower of the days, thought she'd send her Armada to teach us English a lesson for plundering all of their stolen gold, and they only ended up sunk, destroyed and just old wrecks on the British coast. Annihilated, in other words.
Russia has defeated all armies that have tried to defeat her on her own soil, apart from the Mongol Empire & Great Britain (Ironically with French support, well sort of). We are the only countries/empires on earth to have beaten Russia on her own soil. Who stood up, alone, to the Nazi might? Not anyone else, no, only Britain. The rest folded like playing cards.
Hitler steam rolled over Europe, until he got to Great Britain.
Afghanistan is known as the graveyard for Empires, as all but one, have failed in Afghanistan! The British (who else) did win in Afghanistan (though few knows this today).
Britain went through a period of over 250 years undefeated. (about the same amount of time that the USA has existed), LOL.
Britain fought France the most, with France beating Britain one time more than Britain, but Britain won all the Important ones, though at that time they'd not of known that. France was a force to be reckoned with in those times, no matter what people say today, their history is tremendous.
Great Britain's history is also tremendous, and is actually unsurpassed today, or likely to be.
Sort of explains why no invading boot has touched British mainland soil in nearly a thousand years (over four times as long as the USA has existed). LMAO

Oh, no! Wait!! What am I saying? Silly me! We all know the USA is the most powerful military country in the whole wide world today! Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious. Reminder...
Beaten and loses in Vietnam. After using chemical weapons, Napalm, and Agent Orange, burning down entire towns and villages, killing hundreds of thousands of women and children, while losing the war against a bunch of tunnel kids, they tried to burn alive! Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious.
When a million Chinese ran over the hill in Korea?, they fled and got chased back behind the 38th parallel, then gets out of the War, with a ''face-saving'' armistice. Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious.
Thought they'd force China to purchase their opium in the 2nd opium war, yet is the only one defeated by China, as both the British and French had won convincing victories, while the USA, humiliated, and well defeated, had to limp home, all alone. LOL, Such a powerful force they all claim. Hilarious.
Fought for a mere 28 months in WW2, and hilariously, for years, claimed it was because of the USA we won the War LOL. When we all know the facts say the exact opposite. It's not even up for debate. If Britain had not fought WW2?, the USA would no longer exist. Yet unbelievably they still try to say the same today?, with their propaganda history, they've all been spoon-fed from birth, as if a real part of their history. Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious.
Claimed they forced the USSR to remove its Cuban missiles, or they had threatened War? While the truth is, that it was the USA that was forced to remove their missiles and close down their military base in Turkey, before the USSR would agree to remove their Cuban missiles. The complete opposite of what they all got taught. LOL. Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious.
Claimed Japan surrendered after the second nuclear bomb?, when we now know today, that was, guess what? You got it, just another American lie. Japan had ignored the first Nuclear attack, they also ignored the second Nuclear attack and Japan only surrendered after Stalin had kept his promise to Invade East Asia, and the Soviets crushed the Japanese.
That alone removed any hope the Japs had of getting Stalin to act as a mediator for a conditional surrender, and it was only then the Japanese surrendered (as we now can read from the people of the time). The timing of the surrender proves It, It was indeed just another American lie, and is still to this day, by far, the most cowardly act ever committed by anyone on earth. Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious.
Thought they bossed Syria, with their bought and paid for terrorism, only to then have to sit back and watch Russia kick their terrorist's to pieces over and over again, while the USA were helpless to even resist it, and so instead they resorted to, once again, more lies, more criminal attacks on a legitimate leadership of a sovereign country. Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious.
Thought they'd show Russia, (as they supplied Georgia with their military assistance). LMAO, more like hindrance! Then had to watch Russia annihilate and destroy all the military equipment they'd just given away, every piece, exactly like we see them doing in Ukraine today! PMSL. Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious.
They've destroyed and ruined the lives of an entire country (again), Ukraine this time, with once again, more of their? Yep, you've guessed it, more lies, more supplying weapons to criminals, terrorists and Nazis, and are only working against all the interests of the Ukrainian people, and still are, while pathetically trying to blame it on Russia, such a powerful force they all claim. Hilarious.
They claimed they'd kick the Taliban's ass (inside 3 months). The USA = A trillion dollars worth of military hardware. The Taliban = A dollars worth of military hardware. 20 years (after), the USA were going to kick their asses inside three months, the Taliban hold more ground today than they ever have, and the Yankee boys, as always, got sent home! LMAO!! Such a powerful force, they all claim. Hilarious.
The USA struggles against the Taliban and many other non-militarily capable countries!, they've never met a fully militarily capable country. And you want to take on Russia? LOL... Go on then!!....
Personally, I give the USA precisely zero chance against Russia, or China, or Iran, or even N. Korea, let alone both Russia and China as allies? LOL, who are these yanks fooling apart from themselves? Your military is only as good as your MEN! LOL @ the Yanks!
The American 2022 = We're stronger today than we've ever been!!... Like that would be difficult? LOL.

    • @hotstepper887
      @hotstepper887 2 ปีที่แล้ว

You want to take on Russia? Hahahaha really? Idiocy on a scale of idiocy, I really don't believe any of us have ever seen before.
Russia has the ability to bring down all USA ICBM's, while we all know the USA has no defence against even the older Soviet ICBM's, let alone the modern lethal ones like Sarmat, carrying up to 24 MERVS, over speeds of Mach 20.7; 4.3 miles per second; 15,480 miles per hour.
And because we saw the USA pull out of the nuclear arms treaty, (that prohibited the creation of any short-mid range nuclear weapons) now sees even the old defensive threat of "MAD", as an obsolete defensive threat today. As Russia has already created those missiles.
And done so creating, hypersonic mid-range missiles, able to carry nuclear tipped warheads, or full nuclear warheads, travelling at speeds not seen before. The US is just lucky that Russian doesn't threaten any pre-emptive strike, but is only defensive, otherwise they'd be able to strike and hit all US defensive stations and platforms, along with all US nuclear silos, and destroy them all within minutes, long before the US could even begin to think about any sort of retaliatory launch. They're now thinking to change that policy of only a defensive nation, and who could blame them?
Today Russia has the S-500 anti-ballistic missile defence systems, able to operate alongside Russia's new A-235 anti-ballistic missile system, with the ability to shoot down hypersonic attack weapons, hypersonic orbital platforms, ballistic missiles, and their combat units, as well as satellites in near space.
ICBM's of the USA can be tracked and shot down quite easily by Russia today. Any Nuclear effort from the USA today?, would see them lose, and lose big time.
Any conventional War against Russia? They quite simply lose, that's not even up for debate, they could try to land 250,000 troops, and they'd all simply be chewed up and spat out, so where the American see Russia losing?
Only God knows, as everything says otherwise. The USA has never met a fully militarily capable country! Russia is the biggest test of them all.
You know, Russia is about 960 times bigger than Kuwait?. When the USA invaded Kuwait against Iraq, the USA deployed 750,000 troops. How many troops do you think they'd need to attack and invade Russia? LOLOLOLOL

A nuclear detonation requires a very carefully engineered arrangement of just the right amount fissile material. Because the material is fissile it is constantly destroying itself, you have to remelt, purify and recast a warhead every decade or so.
The US spends about $50 billion a year maintaining it's nuclear weapons and the Russia on paper has more to maintain.
If you look at the reliability of Russian missiles that have been used in Ukraine, most either don't launch, fail in flight or miss their target.
There is no reason to believe that the nuclear forces are the only people in Russia who aren't corrupt and incompetent, after all nuclear weapons are the least likely to ever be used and all that money could be much better spent on my yacht fund...

It's ironic when Russia is actually the nation that promised to "safeguard" Ukraine after the 1994 Budapest memorandum, and the 2014 Maidan in Ukraine was never about joining NATO. But Putin still invaded Ukraine. This reminds me as a Vietnamese Czech about Russia signing a similar treaty to "protect" Vietnam in case of an invasion, but when China launched two invasions against Vietnam (1979 and 1988), the Russians did not act, granting Deng Xiaoping a major propaganda triumph (Deng invaded Vietnam to test if Russia dared to support Vietnam). This war has made it clear that western military obsession with precision weaponry is incredibly well-founded, and it makes sense when you think about it. It's true that munitions costing between 5-100 times (or even more) the price of conventional unguided counterparts is hard for many governments to stomach and it makes sense for many to prefer making up for it with numbers and ferocity, but it's obvious now that if you can afford to equip your army with precision variants, you should. The sheer ludicrous amount of ammo quantity you'll otherwise have to expend for the same damage to military targets may well exceed that 5-100 times, but even if it doesn't, the added time, unit scale, manpower commitment, and logistics makes you much more vulnerable to suffer heavy losses in a counterattack AND much less capable of responding to enemy attacks. Basic American M777 batteries have proven themselves quite capable of suppressing and inflicting real pain on russian frontline troops simply because they're vastly more accurate than russian counterparts. They can deal good damage fast since it takes far fewer shots for the same effect, and can then scoot before counterattack. On the contrary, russian artillery is more beholden to their supply lines to gather large amounts of ammo for them before they can gather and begin a barrage, and because their reconnaissance and supply lines are inferior they group together more and fire longer, making them vulnerable. Sure, maybe GPS-guided artillery rounds that cost several tens of thousands of dollars per round are expensive, but if that shell can be used to quickly dispatch a russian artillery piece or tank that cost a lot more as well as the men on it, or worse hit a supply depot full of a ridiculous amount of ammo in it, it's still an insanely cost-effective weapon. Throwing a bunch of dumb rounds in the right general direction which are more predictable and vulnerable to counterattack, supply disruption, etc is not very cost-effective at all since the enemy's more advanced weaponry can inflict heavy attrition of your equipment, supplies, and men in the meantime costing you far more than the enemy ever had to spend on the ammo he used on you. This applies to conventional and rocket/missile artillery, man-portable anti-tank and anti-air weapons, and aerial weaponry at the very least. Russia can't afford to replace their losses in equipment and ammunition indefinitely while ukraine's western aid and lower logistical requirements for using smaller quantities of advanced weapons mean they can endure longer.

@@mightza3781 lol true. The one key factor behind all of this for the russian military is the upholding of the old russian tradition of powerful russian oligarchs sending underequipped starving peasant hordes (preferably of nonrussian ethnic origin) into battle to die for their benefit and profit. It was true hundreds of years ago and still is now. They've sometimes been able to catch up a little bit at certain points in history but they fall behind again just as fast. This deeply ingrained cultural approach to governance and war has shown itself to be woefully inept for the purposes of modern warfare both in terms of strategy and doctrine as well as in the performance of the weapons created for that doctrine themselves. Muskets vs rifles is a pretty good analogy.

I agree with a below comment that a decentralized command structure in the Ukrainian Army helped. It also helped that the Ukrainians were trained extensively to use modern warfare techniques and had been under intense fire during the 2014 war. Many of the Russian troops have not experienced intense enemy fire and tend to panic or become demoralized when placed under enemy fire. Most Russian troops and even their air force lack training. The average Russian Army member has only gone through a two year enlistment before returning to civilian life. Thus they don't have the depth of training and the concept of proper modern warfare tactics that the Ukrain troops possess. Troops have to accompany tank columns in to prevent the opposing troops from taking out the tank columns with shoulder mounted weapons or quickly laid mines. In the Russian thrust to Kiev it quickly became apparent that troops did not accompany their tanks. Adding to that a poor supply chain lead to their tanks becoming either sitting ducks ripe for destruction or tanks without fuel or shells. In short, the Russian Army is not a professional army but an army made up of young men they pull off the streets.

Understandable we extended this capability to their military as well, given how the internet works memes and popular ideas of the Russian military were far more easily consumed but when you look at the truth behind it all is that Russia never fought a modern conventional war with a near-peer adversary. They fought Georgians and Chechens in a round about way you wouldn't consider it fair. Ukraine is different, and it gave us a new perspective of what state the Russian military is actually in. The Army of the Russian Federation have failed spectacularly for several reasons. One of the least obvious is the lack of a professional Non-Commissioned Officer corps. Sergeants are the backbone of most Armies. A professional NCO program could have routed out some of the worst instances of corruption from vendors, readiness of equipment and training weakness. The mid level officers have to directly supervise recruit training, basic procurement and such. With the number of casualties to their officers corps, they now have limited options to mobilize and train replacements.. I would not want to be a Russian soldier in Ukraine.

What an understatement. Not just damage to military. Social - 50k+ work able men dead with more dieing every day. Cultural - who's going to be interested in russian culture any time soon? Economic - total collapse of production industries due to limited access to components and the most importantly russian oil & gas will not be able to recover to their heights, ever, when Europe closes their pipes to Europe. If they had good leadership they potentially could restore a lot of damage by simply agreeing to give away all occupied territories including Crimea in exchange of quick dismissal of sanction. But we all know this won't happen and Russia will continue wasting personnel and material until total collapse. What will follow afterwards is totally unpredictable. It could result further territorial collapse and disintegration. Japan taking back Kuril islands and Dagestan and Chechens anouncing independence potentially first ones to slip away. But east oil rich territories can easily fall under Chinese control - even if not militarily - through debt trap diplomacy that China recently got so good at. Technically there is nothing there that would prevent Finland to just come in and take back some lost territories (russian defense on Finish borders already been reduced in capacity by 90%) during the winter war too - though I believe Fins rather would not have these degraded russian territories than have them.

There are two other reasons that allow Ukraine to be so successful, outside how its army has reformed.
First, Ukraine has been largely helped by many of their friends of Eastern Europe. The majority (Greece, Sweden, Albania, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Moldova, Finland, Georgia, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Turkey) sided with Ukraine, even most Israelis, Azerbaijanis, Chechens, Ingush, Circassians, Dagestanis, Syrians and Iranians side with Ukraine (not the governments), blurring the religious differences (Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, North Caucasians, Albania, Bosnia and Kosovo are Muslims), since many of them were either former Tsarist or Soviet colonies. This one caught by surprise for most of pro-Russian supporters (especially Black Africans and Indians) since most pro-Russian fans only assumed the "West" as UK, France, Germany, USA, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Canada, but very few about these East European countries.
Second, Vladimir Putin assumed he is Napoleon Bonaparte and his army fought like Japanese WW2 soldiers. He has no military experience, only a former low-level KGB man. But he believed he is the naturally born commander, so he meddled and interfered in military affairs, replacing competent Generals with yes-men. About the army, Putin ironically admired WW2 Japan, a lot, so he sought to Japanise the Russian military, but did nothing to rout corruption. That's why Russian Army is a mess. And now, in his desperation, he moves on using his large weapon arsenal to throw missiles on Ukraine by all cost, yet only reinvigorate more Ukrainians to fight against Russia.

The net result was that the US came out victorious. This should not be surprising since when all of its military expenditures are added up it spends at least a trillion dollars a year on its defense industry. It has by far the most powerful economy and the most advanced technology. We really don't know what the US has because some of its most advanced projects are so secret only a relative handful of people are aware of them. Couple of things. Most of the Russian tanks were killed by artillery not Javelin. West still supplied the drones and shells but still. Also it wasnt the Stinger that was most effective but rather a Polish AA missile that was newer and given pretty much as soon as this started. People always forget about the Poles. The HARM missile has 2 modes active seeker and pilot controlled. Active seeker is where you fire the thing and it hunts down its own target. Pilot control is where the aircraft guides the missile towards the target and the missile takes over for terminal guidance. Its thought that the HARMS that are rigged to the MIGs only have the missile guidance capability which makes them rather limited. Important addition yes. Game changer probably not because the active seeker mode has a shorter range making it much more dangerous for the pilots.

Both are from (roughly) the 1980's, and while they have had updates for capability, and ongoing production for export, it was also inevitable that Ukraine was going to end up getting some duds. Also, the Strela-2s' that Germany donated were a bit dodgy (I've seen ~700 of 2,700 being quoted as the failure rate, but have no way to verify it), but they were inherited from E Germany - if anything Ukraine was lucky that they hadn't all been scrapped already

I've watched interesting videos about tactics employed by Ukraine in particular the Thunder runs which some other commentator likened to being a natural fit for Ukrainians with their Cossack heritage. Using lightly armed vehicles, initially civilian 4x4 trucks but increasingly buggies, Humvees and captured TIGRs. Searching for, then exploiting weak-spots in Ruzzian lines, able to probe deeply either for recon or lightning attacks upon poorly defended rear positions, which add to one of the aspects in the military arsenal which is sometimes forgotten, i.e. morale. Thunder runs destroy Ruzzian morale and hugely boost that of the Ukrainians. Never underestimate the power of a people fighting to defend their homeland from a vicious and violent invader, particularly when he has been forced to bolster his ranks with murderers and rapists culled from Ruzzian prisons. These people do not endear themselves to a besieged people.

I think the weaponry we are currently sending is doing well. If possible, ramping up the production of such weaponry would probably do Ukraine more good than sending in new and more advanced weaponry. It would take time for Ukraine to integrate it into their current strategy and forces.
Now I do think that sending _some_ more advanced weaponry to the Ukrainian rear would be good. It gives them time to integrate and, even if limited in quantity, could backup the less advanced weaponry.
Think of how more advanced aircraft like F-35Cs can, reportedly, go into airspace that less capable but far more numerous aircraft like F/A-18E/Fs could never hope to enter. And the F-35Cs can take out the systems that prevent the F/A-18E/Fs from moving in. Thus, letting the workhorses do the heavy lifting.

" ramping up the production of such weaponry" - read defense news sites. The West can't just ramp up the production.
NATO was not prepared for a large scale war. We were caught with our pants down as far as production goes.
Of course, NATO can take out anyone by using combined arms warfare , but we can't produce in large scale any modern equipment. It's just too complicated, and it depends on dozens of suppliers from several countries to make even something like an NLAW.

Germany is thrid behind the US (27,8 billion) and UK (3,7 billion) with 1,2 billion. To be fair, both countries were much better equipped before the conflcit whereas the Bundeswehr already had shortage of equipment. You can't provide something you don't have and not all equipment is made equal. After giving a sizeable chunk of our most modern artillery (the Panzerhaubitze 2000 which is sadly not mentioned in the video but shows up in multiple clips) the only thing we have left would be main battle tanks, i.e. the Leopard 2. Even Ukrainians don't want that equipment because it just too much of headache to establish the supply lines necessary and train not only the crews but also the mechanics and logistical backbone to support their proper use.
France on the other hand has sent 0,2 billion of I don't know what, even less than Norway.
Edit: Germany also provided 30 Gepard armored anti-air tanks, 51 M113 armored troup transporters and 16 BIBER bridge building tanks (these things are expensive and rare as f*) along with ammunition and medical supplies (including 2 fully equipped field hospitals)
