    It’s a rare thing to see anyone eat their food on TBBT. Everyone just moves their fork around the plate.

    • @artistjoh
      @artistjoh 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I always sympathized with Bea Arthur, who as "Dorothy" had to eat cheesecake in a majority of episodes, yet in real life hated the taste of cheesecake. But like a trooper, she wolfed it down and gave the appearance of loving it. I guess TBBT avoids that issue. Plus it should be noted that food on set is usually cold and yucky by the time the actors are supposed to eat it, so there is plenty of reason to just move it around with a fork if at all possible.

      penny eats her food all the time -

    • @marilynsobel7414
      @marilynsobel7414 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I understand that at the beginning of TBBT the actors did eat the food, but naturally if a scene repeats itself over and over they will gain some weight (or constantly use the spit bucket). So it makes sense to just move it around. Also, it takes skill to speak while eating and not show the food in your mouth.

    Amy’s character really started out being even more insufferable than Sheldon. The writers really did a total transformation of her in just a few episodes.
    This seems to be a relatively rare talent for television writers.

    • @darkmask5933
      @darkmask5933 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I wouldn't say she was more insufferable, but at that time we had, as an audience, become attached to Sheldon so we were prone to taking her side even if they were equally annoying.
      Case in point, Sheldon badmouths other people's science fields all the time (remember Burt from Geology?), but we're supposed to take his side here because Amy did the same thing to him.

      Actually, no. You might think so because you haven't seen the impact of such work yet. But that same field laid the foundation for the modern world you live in today.
      Computers, electricity, radio, satellite communications.
      If you remove all neurological biology work and it's achievement from the world, it wouldn't change that much.
      If you remove all theoretical physics work from the world, the civilized world would cease to exist.
      Sheldon's work is not the least important, it's the most important and the most challenging. It's just that the rate of success is so small that people think it's not practical.
      Everything you eat, everything you use in your life today, literally everything is the result of theoretical physics research.

      @@e.m.rivera8948 this is one of those shows that's painful to watch and yet oddly alluring in its nonsense. Look at any of these scenes set in the canteen - the people in the background just repeat the same actions over and over, and take absolutely no notice of the table of main characters regardless of how raucous they get. It's like the cast are hateful, maladjusted player characters forced together because the plot requires it, surrounded by oblivious NPCs who wouldn't bat an eyelid even if Leonard or Sheldon stood up and shot each other
      It's like live action Family Guy - the longer the show goes on, the more ridiculous it gets and the characters feel less and less like actual Humans and more like caricatures squashed together, and nobody ever points out the root issues of the main cast, it's always superfluous gripe-of-the-day stuff. Bernadette is a great example of this - her monstrousness is played for laughs but in any realistic scenario she'd have been given the boot long before she married Howard. In fact, Howard himself is the same - he's just Quagmire made flesh. Truly, this is one of the most bizarre yet fascinating shows I've ever encountered
