Been a huge fan since 2007 and Sara keeps evolving and creating lyrical and vocal masterpieces. This is one of the very best imo.
Its so amazing how you can just figure out the story of them by just their dancing. The first encounter, the passion, the fallout and the reconciliation. Outstanding
i also love how the drink-slide switches - first it's him to her, then her to him; the repetition of some of their movements from the first encounter to the reconciliation; and the symbolism of how when we finally see them kiss, they're separated from each other by a veil. really just so outstanding, start to finish.

There’s something about this music video. The man and woman feel equally strong throughout, whereas in other dance routines the man often comes across stronger, but in this one they feel equal, which I appreciate very much. There’s also something about the moment at 2:02 where you see their faces clearly for the first time and they become human and even more relatable. And Sara Bareilles is incredible as always. Can’t wait for the rest of the album.

This video is an amazing metaphor for so many beautiful/terribly hard things, at least, that's my interpretation. The choreography is stunning, every frame full of so much feeling. And I LOVE these two's chemistry, and also how physically strong the woman dancing is, which is highlighted and wonderfully glorified by choice of dress and movement. And, the use of light and color and GEEEZ, this is just a wonderful piece of art to accompany an incredible song. CANNOT wait for April 5th!!!

That's the beauty of art (music, dance, etc), the meaning behind the words or the moves are what the listener/ viewer gives it. Every piece of art has multiple layers of meanings internally and others that not even intentioned by the composer/lyricists. I agree that this song is an amazing metaphor of so many experiences in life. I just love this video, the dance is so beautifully done and their costumes are very tasteful and beautiful dresses of the female dancer.

sleazybtd Oooh I hate not knowing the lyrics. I’m one of those people that memorize the lyrics quickly, can quote them years after listening to the song. It always bugs me if I don’t know them, I’m trying to listen to catch them and miss the sound and harmonies. I hate the radio because of that. I sometimes try it with songs in other languages, but my curiosity makes it really hard. 😂
I am sure she wrote what most of us have gone through when we realize a relationship is turning out to be not what we wanted (and hopefully don't get too caught up in the drama of it all but make a clean break or a new start) and reaffirm to ourselves what it is we do want which is "FIRE" aka PASSION. I love how easily she expresses it all and I wonder if she had to work hard at these beautiful expressive lyrics or if they flowed from her.... Someday I hope to hear what her experience was when writing this phenomenal song!
