Yep! Love this song. I can’t sing a lick, but I can when this song is blaring over my car’s speakers driving down the road, alone in my car. Magic! Thanks sting.
Sting again so beautiful, nobody 'should' cry for another , we can do better and when not we should just admit that. and mavbe go.i took up the 'should' as in expectation. of course we cry for people we loved and lose and we need to feel how important they are for our soul.
Agreed, it's a beautiful song. Sting wrote it about his dad's death & as a reflection on their difficult relationship in life. So I think the "should" is a rhetorical device meant to evoke a flavor of emotional irrationality we're all familiar with: "by all rights I should be glad or relieved that you're gone-- sometimes I almost convince myself that I am-- but then I remember the heart doesn't work that way"
Sting is just a different story teller and a fabulous artist.
One of Sting's very best works. Sting is genius no doubt and infinitely valued.
This is beyond the best version. It makes you reminisce.
