Crowds wave and cheers as Germany President Paul Von Hindenburg arrive in an open car.
Von Hindenburg stands outside the ancient Palace while below a choir sings.
Crowds are held back by Police. Hindenburg makes a speech (v. quiet).
Hindenburg is cheered as his car enters sporting arena. He talks to a young boy who presents him with a gift. Pan across to Hindenburg in car as people in arena sing patriotic song. Crowds surge forwards to wave him off.
Sign hung over street reads: "Willkommen in Trier".
German President Paul Von Hindenburg and others walk past umbrella carrying crowds. A band play a greeting.
Hindenburg makes a speech in German thanking people for their greetings. Cut away to man holding placard which reads: "Deutsch die Saar auf immerdar!". CU of Hindenburg speaking. People sing the German national anthem.
N.B. The Rhineland had recently been removed from occupation by foreign powers. This material was in the tin for 30/40 - presumably it was the original material from which Germany's Grand Old Man was made.
