The fix for wobble works great for rockets, but its still not enough for large, complex builds. You either have to waste half the partcount on strutting the thing to high heavens, or watch as it starts performing exotic danses before unceremoniously blowing up Anyway, amazing build!
Yeah, I had a really hard time with this. Not so much because of wobble but because of insufferable lag. I had like 2-3 seconds per frame. All launch footage is sped up 8x. It's insane.
At least the accident while testing the escape pods can give some consistent lore, some disaster happened (nuclear meltdown?) which caused the crew to evacuate via the escape pods, then the disaster blew up the ship as they were evacuating
RO is an entirely different game. Challenging. Might be an option for additional channel Contant. Unfortunately, you can’t really do the giant awesome cruisers very easily.
i have noticed with procedural parts in the mods, you can make bigger crafts with much lower part counts and much more rigid bodies, so the fps stays a fair bit higher overall in RO/RP-1 than it does in "vanilla" modded ksp
@@williambrown3699 That’s true. It’s just much harder to get craft into orbit in realism overhaul and huge ships have very low mass to weight ratio and that can be painful.
I love the airbrake doors; very cool! I'd love to see someone try some of the better-looking planet packs in KSP1. I remember a screenshot of KSC on a beautiful habitable moon in orbit of a big blue ringed gas giant. I think there could be plenty of content in missions and even grand tours in various planet packs. There seems to be quite a lot of good-looking planet packs around these days, perhaps infinitely many if you include the procedurally-generated systems of Infinite Discoveries by Sushut. 9:59 Just like the Titanic, not all the escape pods got away! XD
Very entertaining. This size of craft, wait till the navball prograde shifts before going from straight up. And top it off, wait till 70,001 km before starting the orbital roll attempt. All the surface area from the forward bay will be effected by the slightest of atmosphere. As for the explosions when attempting the escape pods, is most likely due to pieces bounding boxes overlapping, even slightly. Also, engine plates the lower node is solid. Using them on the bottom of the rocket, with a strong engine under it, will keep it from actually lifting off the launch pad.
@@ShadowZone if they had used UE4/5 it would easily support a ship like this. UE4.20 (I think possibily later) eliminated physx while supporting hardware physics. It made it possible to have 100k interactions without dropping framerates.
If we got some kind of interior decorating/modelling system in KSP 2 that would have been awesome. I guess it would be like some kind of IVA construction?
I wish there was some way to allow for 1000+ semi-rigid body space ships so players could push their creativity and ambitions, but also keep some of the fun and challenging soft body physics. I think KSP 2 settled for some kind of dynamic welding scheme where similar parts are treated as a single rigid body, but it is still somehow slower than KSP 1. Maybe for some reason the physics colliders on the parts are more detailed and therefore more expensive to simulate, idk? Was really looking forward to some kind of IVA construction mode where you could decorate/build the interiors of spaceships and colonies. Would have also allowed for optimisations like separating the interior/exterior physics simulation into separate scenes so you could have arbitarily complex interiors without adding load to the external physics engine. It's hard to do detailing especially for interiors when the game begins to crawl at the 300+ part count mark.
I know, right? :) But the trouble with aerodynamics is it wants to put the heavy end first with the light but aerodynamically draggy end at the back. It's really bad when all your heavy engines are in the back, where they should be for spaceflight.
Your video covering the development of KSP2 was nothing short of excellent. I can't believe that Take 2 would stoop so low to tie the hands of the KSP 2 developers and abandon the game. I hope they sell off license to a developer who is passionate about KSP and cares about what this game means. Great videos shadow zone, and; AGAIN!!!!!!
March 2025, close Forum, Kerbal-X and SpaceDock. The business set up between streaming and IG is over. They were lucky, it lasted longer than they should. Now I want to see how they take care of the debts.
On the question of insufferable lag.. I just put my persoanl Duna Mission on hold because I could not power through flying at 5fps doing the crafts I wanted for any longer.. but I have put 1200 hours into KSP2 now.. and We'll see if I get back. Also.. we will see if there will be a last update before the door is locked and the lights are turned off
It's amazing, I really wanted to be able to see and navigate inside the station. You can customize the interior of the station. But this is not implemented in the defunct KSP2.
@@-Gorby- because it is a challenge, it has no IRSU, that made me feel like cheating when landing and coming back to orbit to every celestial body in KSP1, and no Mech Jeb. And because graphics are stunning and because it does not take 5 minutes to load.
@@juanignacioayalarico9410 I mean... you could just not use those things in KSP1. So your "different approach" is to play a less complete and less stable version of the exact same game? LOL what? All so you can have subjectively "better" graphics at 20fps? I've played both, with graphics mods KSP1 looks just as good - if not better - and I still get a solid 60fps everywhere. And yes, KSP1 does have a driven story, it's called "Career Mode". I'm starting to think you haven't played KSP1 in the last 4-5 years and don't know the current state of it.

I have to agree. Shadowzone should consider either RP1 or heavily modded ksp1. Try the USI with WOLF logistics.
Either way, I’ll be watching!
What is ro or rp1?
