I'm 55 years old and haven't built a model since the age of 14. I was impressed with how you were able to age your ship. But what impressed me most is the techniques you used to make flowing water around your ship. I've never seen water around the model looks so realistic. I learned something here today and that is good thing. Thanks for the video. I never thought a loctite model could but so good.
I am a retired disabled guy that has always enjoyed building models but I just built them. Today yall put life to them. I can only keep trying to learn stuff from your videos. Sailing ships are my strong models but the sea is what I am scared of trying. You are really good in my book. Thank you for making your videos.
The use of greys was a brilliant way to create the texture and depth the black alone lacked! And Bravo to Anyone even Attempting Rigging on that base! Very nice work sir.
Just watched this, this morning. ( Whilst in bed with a coffee(lazy morning day))I bought my partner this kit last year. She is now sat up in bed assembling this, her first model kit! Later she will do it downstairs.
Progress report- she has completed the hull and masts. She’s proud of her accomplishment so far. Thoroughly enjoying herself. By the way Alex, don’t apologise about your English. We understood it perfectly well and it’s better than my Portuguese which is non existent!
Nice. I tried my hand at a sailing ship, the U.S.S. Constitution, I believe it was Revell...but I was about 10 or 11 at the time...so very much still learning. When it came time to the rigging? WAY beyond my ability!! Moved on to airplane kits, spaceships, R/C....then had my flying career. Retired 767 captain now, and surprisingly, still have some modeling skills. But, videos like yours are valuable for technique and ideas. Kudos.
For some reason, the word "pirate" helps selling ship models...i found once a fine lindbergh model of the french frigate "Flore" which had to withstand the indignity of being downgraded to a "jolly roger pirate ship". I suppose it has something to do with the idea of catching chidren's fantasy, so every ship with sails and cannon from the carrack to the first rate man-of-war becomes a "pirate ship"...the only problem is that these models aren't by any means "toys". This nice and well built diorama represents a medium sized galleon, certainly not a pirate's favorite mount! Nicely done, anyway, and beautifully rendered water!!
I just love old history ships! The black pearl looks amazing. I bought the HMS Victory and I am currently building her, you are helping me very much thanks!!!!!!!
I have seen resin used as water on many modelling channels not look as effective as the finish you have created here, Alex. Most effective and a fantastic result over all for a kit model.
It's an absolute pleasure watching your builds.....they are always full of tips and techniques and I particularly like the creative dioramas you create. You come across as a person who really loves building models....regardless whether they're ships, planes or futuristic concepts and you enjoy sharing it with us. Thanks again and look forward to seeing what's next!
I find it really amazing how Revell released both the "Black Diamond" and the "Black Pearl", I like to think the Diamond is one of the ships of Captain Sparrow's fleet, the Pearl being the flagship and such. I don't know for sure but it's possible.
Alex, you always impress me with your builds and dioramas. You do fantastic work. As you always say keep modeling and always, always model with a smile.
You changed my mind on snap Fits !! This is a beautifully detailed kit. After my Captain Kidd and Jolly Rodger kits are done I will definitely pick this one up. Great job !
😱😱😱 That was AMAZING, Alex!!!! Not just the hand painting, but the dio and rigging are awesome!!!! Just goes to show that even a snap fit kit can be turned into a modeling work of art by a skilled builder with a vision!!!
Brilliant build as always alex your work always makes me try abit harder in this hobby your a true craftsman love your work and i can't wait to see what you build next.
Amazing diorama. The gold is, i think, entirely too bold. But the rest is absolutely beautiful. I was wondering about the sails, until I saw them at the end. Wow 👏👏👏👏
Brilliant use of different grays to give it color texture. Damned good idea to honor the old black/white movies that were partial inspiration for the film in the first place. And to be honest, your sea surface technique improved drastically since the Caravel.
That's a Beautiful kit build up very awesome my brother keep up the beautiful model build's. I love to see your work,I will keep building always with a smile.
Arrrr....THAT BE A FINE BUILD....Arrrr......THAT WAS COOL YOU GIVE'IN A SHOUT-OUT TO THE ERROL FLYNN PIRATE MOVIE'S---THOSE MOVIE'S WERE MADE IN THE MIDDLE TO LATE '30s TO EARLY '40s......
I just passed on one of these because I thought it was a toy... now seeing what a magnificent model you made from it, I might go back and get one then give it the Houdini treatment! Also good tips on the gold coachwork Alex...
I took it as a toy also... But for a small fun project is very good! And on your experienced and talented hands it will look much better than this one Im certain
Fantastic little kit ! Will definitely buy this bugger. Just got done with Linbergs Capt Morgan and Capt Kidd ships. thinking of this one before I start Linbergs jolly Rodgers. Try these Linberg kits.. I think you'll like them.
Well done, the work that went into that rigging was phenomenal, did you ever think of adding crew ?, no one seems to do that & with that much detail it might have been nice but great job.
Super job on this one, how you made the water just great. I really enjoyed the video, I may have to try out making the water for my submarine kits, Thanks.
i see on the video that u had the same problems with this kit just as i did one anchor didnt fit on the side and the back plate of the ship didnt fit but this model was so fun to built it took me only two days with all the weathering and it looks great. great job and keep it going
I thought you were wasting your time and talents on a snap-together model....boy, was I wrong! Great looking build....I'm fairly jealous of your knowledge and skills.
great work again. well done on the rigging! absolute 'mare doing that! i recently finished the Airfix 1/72 golden hind really glad i persevered as the ship looks wrong without all the rigging.
Well, since you asked nicely for a sub, you got one! And because the final result is amazing, I ticked on the bell too. I'm 19 and I just got HMS Victory on which you did a video awhile ago. I'm afraid I'll have to postpone it for the future because all those threads are really scaring me hahaahah
@@AlexModeling Also, can you help me figure out enamel paint in general? I only know that you should mix it with thinner but I dont know how much thinner should go in specified dose of paint. I'm struggling with Revell and Testors enamel paints :/
On enamel paints you should ONLY use enamel Thinner ok? Check if you are not using acrilic thinner because if so the paints wount be good for use. All paints regarding to mix should always get at the end kind of a milk consistêncy.. try to put the thinner drop after drop, mix it and check for consistency until you achieve that milky kind of smoothness
@@AlexModeling Thank you very much. One more question: When I mix paint and thinner, it can be used by airbrush? I mean, after use you just use a bit of thinner to clean it and thats it? Again thanks for your help
The Black Pearl is one of my favorite fictional ships But the sad thing is that I don't have a model kit of it Since I'm planning on getting the Zvezda IJN Shinano model (note the Zvezda model is a relaunch of Revells Shinano) And after when I get the Shinano the Black pearl is next Great build
Incredible!! Have just started this kit, so am looking for Inspiration as mine will be going in a bottle... Wind is temporarily knocked out of my sails though as i have little faith i will achieve anything like what you have. Super what youve made out of a basic kit.
I just bought the Pearl 1/72 and that is why I found your channel. I would have liked to see a video like the one you made of HMS Victory but of the Black Pearl 1/72, since I am afraid to ruin mine because I have never made a scale model. The Black Pearl lives! What a great example of skill and foresight, taking a simple kit and making look like so good.
I do love the Pearl
I've been stuck on what colours to weather the 1:72 scale one with, and this has finally given me the answer with the light grey. Thanks!
Glad it helped!

Great looking ship. But could do with some crew figures. A Jack Sparrow figure stood on deck would be great lol.
i am deeply impressed, which great results you made with this simple kind of model !!! Again a great pleasure ! thank you for this impressions !
I just love old history ships! The black pearl looks amazing. I bought the HMS Victory and I am currently building her, you are helping me very much thanks!!!!!!!

looks awesome. i would add some 1/72 scale pirates on board. i think it brings the ship to life. diorama is top notch.
Wouldn't it need to be 1/150 ish? The 1/72 version of the black pearl is significantly larger.
You turned a simple snap kit into art. Really like the black and white movie look. Bravo brother
Thanks Brother. How s life?
@@AlexModeling it's warming up. Finally had more than 2 days without rain. Can't get into the new shed yet though. You?
As usual living One day at a time. But working and riding a horse at the same time helps and its a new work on my ooold job! :)
Great job . The water really sells it , no pun intended .
Hi Alex. By an amazing coincidence...I recently picked this kit up. I really appreciate the great pointers you just gave me, my friend. Peace.

Nice One Captain Barbossa. You did a really good job, with this snap Kit.
Deberías hacer el Zvezda Black Pearl 1/72 !
Saludos desde Mexico

i recomendo Laquer paints... are more strong because of the heavy weathering you have to do on the black pearl
AlexModeling thanks!!!
Beautiful job !
Thanks
I feel like all that bronze would be extremely tarnished. in fact it looks that way from movie stills. very nice work though!
Jack Sparrow will be proud :)
Is it that blue insulating foam?
Another great model. By the way Evolution Silverline is a precise airbrush, I have one, too. :)
