I'm in the process of building a mini table saw with a 895 motor I got from amazon for 25 dollars with the blade and arbor. I'm confused on the whole hot glue thing you got going. You did a great job I love it. But hot glue? How has it held up? I'm using tite bond 3. I use it on all my projects and it works amazingly.
There is a safety concern here. Are you sure you are fine with a right hand thread on the arbor nut? surely your saw blade will try to loosen itself with the resistance from cutting? has the saw blade come off in use?
ok so i have a question a real question for the simple purpose of being educated. i've seem to have arived at the fact that the reason for all these improvised power tools in some countries is that you cant purchase or have shipped to you table or circular saws
Difficulty in obtaining a table saw in other countries + shipping costs might be a problem, part of thre reason might be the simple 'joy' of building one, or like me (I build wooden model ships), I wanted a saw that could cut very precise dimensions. I plank ships with wood 1mm thick & 3 mm wide - impossible to cut on an 8 or 10 inch table saw. I also build a small thickness sander using the motor - it's only 4 inches wide & the drum 2 inches in diameter, but I can sand wood down to 0.5 mm thick. Commercially available 4" table saws start at about $400.00 and go up. My next project is a mini lathe for tapering masts.
Besides Making your own it can be custom built to your needs. Also if it breaks you know how you built it and you can fix it. Store bought ones don't cater for left handed people or give the option to customize it.
