I had the good fortune to have a one to one photography tutorial with Karl in Glencoe. Very professional and I learned so much. The area is a landscape photographers dream.

That old shot was great... cant see it working well now! Id shot that waterfall you said you had never seen anyone shoot... It was poor light though so I have it planned in for my march trip... booked myself into the Kingshouse as a treat for 2 nights! Planning my 3 days hence why im binging on your vids! Really Helpful!

Hi Karl, currently sat in your cafe looking at the images. Great work. Up here on a photography trip photographing and vlogging and have been to three of these locations today. Thanks for the guide. Also photographed the Cauldron this morning although I overshot it and photographed one of the falls further up. Epic morning of light. And the coffee and toastie were awesome!

Glen Etive is wonderful. I’ve never managed all the way to the Loch though. Your second image that you never see, well, I’ve got it. On my web site under “Touched by Light”. Not the best crop though on that site. I am back in that area later this week. The scenery will be different as it’s still summer but I hope to get some good shots. Hope you don’t mind but I’m also going to do a couple of 5 locations videos from there. Great images you got, really liked the last one. Very nice. Also the best, Alastair.

Hi Karl, that was a wonderful video and the locations were superb. I really liked your phot from the archives of the both at the bridge, definitely much nicer back then and the black and white worked perfectly. I have subscribed, I thought I had done a while back but obviously not but it’s done now and I am just about to watch the Assynt landscapes. Loved the shot at Lochan Urr. I've been there a few times. One year I left my umbrella there, next year I returned and found it at the dense rhododendrons. There is a 'monster' in Lochan Urr. 🙂the Direach Ghlinn Eitidh.

Thanks for this Karl. I drove down Glen Etive for the first time last October and stopped at 3 of the locations you did. I didn't spot the path down to Lochan Urr so will look at this when in Glencoe next month. I saw the bothy with cars parked and had to immediately dismiss it but how interesting to see it from before the renovation work. Far better for a Togs perspective. I did note a couple of lone trees near the bothy/Car park which make a good shot with the Loch in the background. I also gather it's a good location to see deer by the road side but when I was there they were all in an Estate field. Thanks again for the work you put into these.

Hi Karl, it`s been a while since we met in your hardware store where you helped me to get my tripod working again. I enjoyed my trip to Glencoe and Glen Etive very much and I am looking forward to coming back soon. During my visit I drove past this little bothy but did not see that fantastic shot. What a pity. And I knew that there was a shot at Lochan Urr but I looked from the wrong direction.
A bit further up nearby the construction base camp and the bridge there is a lonely tree that makes for a good shot. It is somewhere around the James Bond parking spot - I guess within 300m. Right hand side on the hill when you look down towards Loch Etive. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture because the conditions weren't right when I was there. But you will surely know where to look ;)

Thanks Karl, nice to see the glen, I've given it a miss for a while because of all the work going on and the potholes. I never go down in the Summer, and love it out of season. You caught the spots l like to go to, but l also like to get down on to the boulder beds and take pics looking up at the peaks. The beautiful colours of the boulders give a nice leading eye to the peaks. A plus is my dog gets a nice swim while l look for a shot 😄 l can feel a trip coming on 👍Thanks again Alioban
Enjoyed your tips for Glen Etive its on my list when I visit Scotland next, it would be nice to see your camera settings etc added to each image.
Thanks for watching. I get asked a bit for camera settings but to be honest I’m at F11 and iso 100 . The rest simply depends on the light and location at the time so I don’t see how they help anybody else. I hope that helps. Thanks again for watching.

You can spend a whole week down there and still not see everything you want.
Unfortunately, the last time I went down there, it was June and it was like Blackpool. Far too many folk about and the single track road was like the M6 on a Friday afternoon.

I do love Glen Etive, it’s definitely more of an autumn or winter drive to explore for me, have found myself in Glen Orchy a bit as well, some nice spots there as well, some lovely locations you have highlighted there Karl.
Very adventurous and also truly inspirational to get out there and do something with life. Sometimes I feel like I lost the spirit of getting out there and instead got stuck in a big town and just work and work and work. So thank you for creating this video and sharing such an experience with all of us. Wish you all the best :)
Oh there is a nice waterfall just up to the right of the road at the lay-by before the bond stop... and one to the right of the road midway between the bond stop and the car park for the famous Glen Coe waterfall...

Was in Glen Etive last week (on one of my regular trips from York) and did all the shots on here apart from Loch Etive at the very bottom of the road. I'd actually done Lochan Urr in February last year and ended up falling in the Lochan when trying to make my way around the shore. It was in front of the bushes and you begin to sink pretty quickly round there. I was glad to have a branch or two to hang on to! But I was much more cautious this time and am very happy with the shots I got. I did call in to the Ballachulish visitor centre last week too. It's like a Tardis. You were working on the screen at the very front of the building otherwise I would have said hello. But I didn't want to disturb you!!! Really enjoy your videos so thank you.

As been said previously this is one of my favourite places, once spent a week here in Glencoe and in Glen Etive in particular, just seeking out images a wonderful area, a pity its so popular, you hope you get lucky with few people, and to do that its early mornings, can you stay overnight in the carpark at the bottom of the Glen where you took that last image ? regards, Colin.

Thanks for watching. All the locations are pretty obvious when you drive down there. They are all close to the road so you should have no trouble finding them. Plus it’s good to explore a little as well and see what crops up. Good luck
Hi Karl another great guide to Glen Etive. Congratulations on the 1k subs 👍 I've actually taken a photo from that location where you said nobody else has got a photo from but I think I may have seen you point that one out on a previous video 🤔 ☺ No visit to Glencoe for us this year (we had a weeks holiday the past 2 years) but we're off to Skye at the end of March. Have you done a site guide for that location? I'll check your archive. You set up portrait for pic 3 with the rock as leading foreground but the image was in landscape without the rock🤔
Yep. I cropped the rock out in the end as I preferred a landscape orientation. I cut that bit out of video as it was getting too long. Well spotted though. Thanks for watching.
@glencoephotography1 I've a keen interest in photography. Planning a week or 10 days road trip in the new year from Ireland and was looking up places to go. The choices are numerous so I think I'll concentrate on one area.
