I kinds agree with this tho if you are going to do that I'd also suggest not resetting the valor 100 percent from season to season. Maybe just gate the ability to buy the top tier gear right away with the v from last season or find a way to tax that valor but not completely reset it.
Not having to worry about gold repairs and transmog costs is a big thing for me. The dev's know this game is very trasmog focused but locking us down with a cost ruins the fun. Find other ways to gold sink. Remix proves to me that removing these 2 costs improved my experience and enjoyment immensely.
I am not a huge fan of super strong, class-agnostic, random proc gems (i.e., tinkers). They lack flavor and agency. I really hope WoW does not go in that direction.
I agree with this. You have expansions where random procs of some kind do WAAAY too much of your overall damage; it lessens the impact that skill has on output and was very bad for PvP.

As someone that quit WoW for Guild Wars 2, I love the fact that the devs here are realizing that customization of characters is a huuuge incentive that they have vastly underestimated in the past. They seem to realize that now with all the skins/mounts in Pandaria.
Mop remix is just fomo, all the transmogs you get are the same ones you would get if you went back and did them on the live game, the exception is like 3 mounts that are recolored
imo the game combat is too bloated, what really turns me off about the modern game is that doing rotations requires managing tons of procs and pressing tons of buttons rapidly. it just makes each button feel less impactful and damage seems more and more cooldown reliant as time goes on.
This is also due to the vast number of modifiers on any given ability. It used to be simple things like a crit, trinket procs, or using damage CDs, but now the talents are littered with "Chance to do X" abilities. It means the VARIATION in how much damage your abilities do is much higher... so your spell could hit like a wet noodle or the stars can align and it randomly does a lot of damage. Even worse for PvP, when the starts align AND you are using CDs, the damage is INSANE. The overall impact on PvP is an overreliance on defensive CDs being traded, it means you can't punish things like positioning mistakes with reliable damage, and it feels almost impossible to pressure with damage outside of CDs. Instead of making a play you are just biding your time until CDs come up again. The impact of class design on PvP doesn't even seem to be considered with ANY of the changes they make. So it feels worse for PvP too!
No its not, stop listening to asmongold... there is like 2 specs that are more complicated , but almost all spesc haves max 5 button rotation, with alot of them 3 buttons....
@@naejimba that's simply not true. I'm playing UH DK, which is pretty bad in terms of button bloat, and needs a slight prune, but most of the time I know exactly what sort of numbers I should be expecting to see (given that I execute my rotation well enough), and can pretty much tell what I did wrong when that doesn't happen. I definitely don't want to oversimplify this too much. Merge some CDs here and there, take some off the GCD, but that's about all I want.
I love how wow graphics and game design are now. This is modern, readable for fight, a bit pretty and amazing, and all of this works on standard cumputer as well, perfect for dual monitor, streaming or watching serie on second monitor :p
Regarding the movement abilities, why not allow the same armour types to socket movement skills, so that a dk can heroic leap, or a priest could blink etc... i understand things like a warlocks demonic gate might not work but they could flavour it as an arcane gateway or a shadow portal
For me to come back WoW needs one thing: Remove AddOns and design every class and encounter to be effectively playable without them and also give them visual clarity and feedback to mechanics and proccs so you don't need WeakAuras to fucking know what the hell is even happening with all the proccs, dots, cooldowns and buffs.
Hero talents help class and spec identity even further than what we have now, it's a good added flavor. Don't take it away as a default option with things like remix for the future (fine if it is just a timed event tho)
Wow should just stick to Valor Points (competitive gameplay) and Justice Points (casual/entry level content), with gear tiered by the quantity of each currency you need to purchase or upgrade it. Then a third currency could be added, say Legacy Points, for non-current content of ANY past expansion. At every new season VPs would convert in JPs and at the end of an expansion both would be converted to Legacy Points. Simple.
It’s called being stylized, I’d like it if they made the more realistic graphics a toggle or a paid dlc with toggle which would make it more work on the devs, but ideally they’d hire more people to handle the increased work load.
WoW 2 has to be a reboot entirely. Maybe some of these ideas can stay but the graphics should be drastically enhanced, the gameplay simplified and fun and the story completely different. I hope they can destroy the nonsense they built after last titan and move on to thousands of years later unrelated to the god awful things they did in and after BFA storywise.
its all about the graphics for me too. There's no point in making new stuff if they don't overhaul might as well call it another expansion if they don't touch the graphics
"to be fair" Marcelian never said he doesnt want better graphics, just that it should maintain its signature art style. (improved polygons/resolution/particles etc)
I started playing WoW to have fun and remix is just simply fun. It's where I hope the main game goes. This was an excellent video. Keep up the great work!
At this point blizzard might as well steal guild wars 2 gearing progression. If what we have currently is too hard to gear up there’s no hope for any other system.
They copy everything else at this point. Gw2 is an excellent example of what MMOs should be. It has its own issues such as new players joining feel very gimped and can't catch up
@@Foster_The_Wild I would hate for wow to have gw2 gearing as that was my least favourite part of gw2, but there’s so much complaining when it comes to gearing even though this is the easiest it’s ever been to gear, that I can’t see how blizzard fixes it without going gw2 style. On the flip side though if they did switch to gw2 gearing it would interesting to see what people complain about when gear does not matter and skill is more important.
@@Hell0spawn0dougi would like gw2 gearing, the game is about skill and not time sink to win. You say gearing is easy but I don't have any mates that play wow anymore, I don't have time to try and pug mythics or get into a raiding guild when I have a job and family. Most of the game is therefore inaccessible for me and I resub for story patches and quit when I've got heroic dungeon gear. Supposedly I am part of the 70% as that's the percentage that quit after the first month of each patch. It shows gearing doesn't work in my opinion.
@@Foster_The_Wild I’m in the same boat as you in regards to time to play, but I realize that I don’t have time to invest into high mythic+ or mythic raid so I play what I know I can play and don’t expect any more than that. This is the difference between me and what feels like the vast majority of people, I don’t feel that “most” of the game is inaccessible to me as I can enjoy normal raids and what ever level of m+ I achieve in the time I have. I loved the gear hunting in wrath and up till about legion when titan forging became a thing. It was cool for me to do harder content and get a reward for doing it. With how wow showers you with gear now you might have to do heroic raids to get upgrades even if you haven’t gone into normal raids. I could not even tell you the name of my main characters weapon when all through wrath and warlords I could.
Vanilla + oldschool Cataclysm gearing felt really fun for me back then because the greens and blues mattered so much more and lasted so much longer. Names were better to btw ^^ To me epics lost their value as soon as I experienced my first endgame expansion reset which was from TBC to Wrath. I have NOT cared about gear the same ever since I had to replace my beloved Earthwarden that Grayz-Bronzedragonflight still has in his transmog bank lol
I miss getting uniquely named items per boss. Getting the staff of infinite mysteries was cool. No one asked me if it was lfr, normal, heroic, mythic, upgraded, etc. i just felt good when I got it.
Putting graphics/art style aside, I think completely changing the combat system is what should happen for a WoW 2.0 otherwise whats the point of a "2.0" And plunderstorm was a perfect direction of a "wow 2.0" combat
I’m a gamer, I didn’t play a lot of WOW because I didn’t have the money. Now WOW is too cumbersome for me, but I would really like the second part to start from scratch with everyone, so to speak. But it seems to me that if they make the game, they do it on UE5 and will not release it soon, since there are still few players whose PC can handle the game, I think it will be announced in 3-5 years and released in 7-9 years, I think by then many will be able to play on the UE5 engine. They are unlikely to make their own engine since it is already very expensive, they will optimize UE5 as much as possible, maybe even agree with the UE5 developers to make a version for MMOs.
new engine, graphics, texture, model, deep char-customize to begin the "WOW 2.0". think of how big the game was, when this is done, US6 might be available.
Problem with picking utility outside of talent tree, is Pvp. there is no way for another player to know how to counter a mage, if the mage suddenly has vanish or leap instead of blink
I think would they should change with gearing in remix is. Green are same ilvl as current Blues are +1 upgrade level as current Purples are +2 Right now getting item drops feel kinda meh, at least with this system it’ll feel alot more rewarding
If Blizzard ever *actually* made a WoW sequel and didn't name it Worlds of Warcraft (instead of just calling it World of Warcraft 2 or something equally lame), it would be a massive missed opportunity, in my most humble opinion.
WoW with some more 'realistic' graphics would bring SO much new people into the game. Much more catchy. I showed WoW to all my frieds (we are all long time gamers) and their first unanimous reaction was "damn the game looks like shit". I can only wish we had those UE5 graphics.
My suggestion to improve the current retail gearing system: make it so we can upgrade paths, so from veteran fi champion if we clear content that could give us champ track items.
Great video. Many of your thoughts led to a really fun and interesting conversation with friends about its current state of WoW and how it could become so much better and enjoyable. I’m really excited about its potential future.
When I think of WoW 2.0 i think about better encounter design with less ability vomit, skill prune and disabling every calculative addon - especially weakauras. I don't care about remix-style gearing tbh
totally agree we dont need half the skills on the bars, but you have the old school andy;s that wont as many buttons as possible, to me I would rather have a more simplified rotation with better encounters, so i dont have to look at cool downs every 20 seconds
I don't know and I think one big part of wow 2 is a reset. in actual progress of characters so the game isn't bloated and doesnt have so much fomo, but also potentially in lore. a new starting point, probably hundreds of years in the future. Also you should watch a video by Moon Channel called " Why Aren't There Any Good MMORPGs? A Critique of Pure Power" It's about this change in WoW to becoming more and more like ARPG and less like a social RPG. MMORPGS need to be balanced. Maybe fixing the ARPG side could be good but their real problem is they don't know what magic caused the perfect balance of ARPG and social RPG
I don’t really remember cataclysm at all but didn’t reforging come out in MoP? Also, wows combat is the best. However, it’s telegraphing and notifications is trash which is why weak auras are so heavily used.
Some very interesting points. Well said. I don't necessarily agree with many of them but that doesn't matter. What matters is that you brought them up. Have fun ❤️
I don't like the tinker & meta gems system on MOP Remix, I want to have class identity not to hunt for XYZ Proc gems and build everything around that thing. And I definitely don't like the infinite scaling system of the cloak, for someone who not only started the remix late, but also only plays it every now and then, every single piece of group content is a walking simulator where 1-2 people look in a direction and everything gets nuked while the rest of the plebs just loot behind them. I do however like the lack of costs for transmogs and the one-currency-to-rule-them-all thing with bronze.
Only thing about remix is it's way less immersive. I think it's fun as a game mode, but I hope wow doesn't lean too heavily into these elements. Maplestory went into a similar directions and it killed the game imo.
They need to increase number of items with gems and gem variety . Also, please bring reforging back! You know how many times I will stick with a marginally lower ilvl item due to the stats on the higher one not being optimal? Feels bad. At least I would be able to change the stats a little towards the stats my class prefers
While i like the system for gems to dictate the secondary stats on your gear, it's not what the devs actually want. they dont want us to always have the perfect gear that some guy just simmed. people will rush through the content faster with that system, because you dont have to run instance X to get your BIS item in that slot. you just get any item with high ilvl and put your haste/mastery gems in. (or whatever stat) a lot of these systems are perfectly fine for a mode that is considered a just-for-fun thing. and even though they feel good and right, they wont feel good in an actual competetive season. i'm all up for getting overpowered, because overpowered is fun, but a majority of the wow community dont want that. best example are the tinker-gems. they are basically azirte armor without any azerite-level hurdles on your necklace. in bfa that was one of the biggest fun killers, for both players and the devs. in pandaria remix it's fun and imbalanced.
Remix isnt WoW 2.0 its just a game mode that they are experimenting on like blizzard always does in each expansions, they experiment then forget sooo next xpac dont think they'll bring this mode back. They wont.
so people still think this is how the upgrade system works...1:35...if only once 70 the ilvl stops in heroic dungeons etc at 346 how do you upgrade past that well you will need to be lucky to get a drop past 346 for example a helm 360 in your bag or equip slot to then turn around and upgrade that specific slot piece to 360...aka the 346 helm you have in your bag or equip slot now if it only required bronze and not just bronze and a specific ilvl i could see all the dumb things about wanting more bronze but none of it matters since your basically not taking that high ilvl with you to begin with into TWW if lucky 400+ so live the short term power fantasy you already get in Dragon Flight minus all the Gems and tinkers how people keep misinforming and saying all you need is 70 and loads of bronze to upgrade all the way to 556 hurts my brain... Side Note have enjoyed mop remix regardless of all the toxic nonsense about bronze and the end game 1% trash and making it like a second job but got all my collections and mounts from it so its nice to finally take a 2/3 month break and chill and play other games and do irl stuff till TWW...
Why should it be like not getting highest gear without running mythic raids? I’m absolutely bored by the raids in wow, mostly because of the players, and only playing and pushing dungeons. Why should I be forced in mythic raids to be able to play as high dungeons as others who run mythic raids?
im gonna be honest, i would hate if they kept the remix system, it feels too much like a mobile game to me. The current system is fine as is imo, its simple enough save the different tiers of crests you need.
Remix has a LOT of design flaws that would kill retail if it was lasting more than a temporary event. War within is going exactly in the right direction I think what they need to change next are stats because the current stat system is too simplistic and not particularly fun. Versatility is the most uninspired stat ever, mastery is still all over the place. Honestly I think what they did at the end of bfa with corruption was quite promising and I wish they would try to have affixes again. It gave you a reason to farm gear for a while instead of just reaching your stat cap and then getting bored with the season.
After watching this video I’m glad I don’t play any longer it is way to convoluted, people want to play to have fun, nothing you talked about said fun to me….it just said I would have to look up a ton of information just to catch up and be able to even play at entry level.
Personally i find the current gearing system fine, items to aim for with subtlety nudges to try harder content, plenty of guides out there if you dont understand the upgrade system. If people cant get there head around the current one all hope is lost. I think players have just become lazy. Compared to Vannila, gearing is easy. Though it would be nice if they kept Bullions for example but to be used on gear to upgrade the item track from Veteran to champion ect and save people having to farm certain dungeons / key levels
PvP has been long neglected. Even worse, competitors have done certain things better that they can just steal. First example, the Resolve Bar from SWtOR. It has it's issues, but they built a better mousetrap: a single bar that combines all DR categories into one. This allows you to put a limit on how long any one player can be CC'd, as well as the overall percentage of time any player will spend in CC. This would simplify an overly complex aspect, means less addons are required since you don't have to track DR, means more comps are viable than ever before, and is easier to spectate and know what is going on. Of course, a large number of adjustments would need to be made for each type of CC and adjustments per class/spec in how fast it builds resolve, but it would be a part of a full rework. This would allow CC to be used more in a duel than in a large scale battle (allowing CC to be balanced no matter how many or few players there are). We could go further and allow certain amounts of damage while CC'd to also give resolve; this means in a large scale battle you won't get stunned and go from 100 to 0 without being able to respond if you don't have your trinket. The PvP trinket can also interact with Resolve; when used the bar changes colors and you are immune to CC while it drains. It is a flexible system that you could alter for the needs of the game. The second idea they should lift is how tanks function in Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning. They have an ACTUAL role in protecting and defending players. They have a way to reduce the damage any other target takes by 50% without a CD, but they have to be relatively close to the tank. They have abilities they can use to actually block damage to players behind them. For WoW, we can use existing PvE only tools and give them a secondary effect when used on a plyer. For instance, a taunt could be used on an enemy player to reduce their damage. Instead of relying so heavily on resilience and defensive CD exchanges they could allow tanks to fill that role. The idea of protecting players around them might function differently, but it would also work well for large scale battles that favor ranged and melee blow up quickly. The opposite would be true in 2v2 where many casters struggle and for those specs working with a tank would do wonders. We could also incorporate an aspect of the Resolve Bar into the redesign for tanks in PvP; tanks should do less damage and have higher survivability, but they can be a bit more resilient to CC and their CC doesn't fill up the resolve bar as much via a passive. All of that can get out of hand quickly to make something annoying, so a light touch is best for this aspect (CC is VERY powerful in PvP). At any rate, this would give tanks an actual role in PvP and they can be balanced around it.
Hi I’ve took a break as I quickly found out I couldn’t do Dragonriding which was infuriating. So I heard Plunderstorm / MOP Remix is completely separate from retail WoW so can MOP Remix help Retail Remix it’s confusing? Also In Retail WoW I can’t Raid as I’m always being kicked out as I’m disabled with bad hand control so I can never get Mythic Gear which I want so I feel Overwhelmed in PvE just so I can play WoW nor for me. Dude, you are right on point. Keep it Simple should be Blizzard’s slogan. Why convolute a game with complexity to give it depth? No, customizability and player choice is key here. Yes, tinker slots are overpowered, but definately worth considering for the main game. Short version: Pandanonium should be baseline in gearing and make depth elsewhere
They had tinker slots in the previous three expansions and they only worked in one of the expansions after the system got fully unlocked. Legion had artifact weapons which worked because they were tied to the class and spec which allowed blizzard to add some cool things to the class. Azerite armor and the necklace where bfas attempt and both where hated by pretty much the whole community. shadowlands had covenants and again basically hated by the community.

I mean, that was the issue in the 2000’s and maybe into 2010, but in 2024 that really should not be as much of an issue. Wow 2 will just be wow 1 down the line. Just look to classic release and classic now.. On top of that making a game obsolete that people have spent 20 years on will not go over great. WoW is in a good spot now, they have more and more patches out, the thing they could do is make the gear upgrade from mop remix come in to Retail other then that its fine. Wow will never get back to its glory days again, gaming world have change to much. Most people are not only playing 1 game anymore. Mobile games have become bigger and bigger. There are alot of mmo out now so the playerbase are in different games. In 2004 there were 2 smaller mmorpg out so wow took the market by suprise.
all this sounds way to good to be something blizzard would use. They are terrified that if they streamline things people will play less. WHich is absolute garbage. When people are enjoying the content they will find ways to play more.
This is the 2006 mindset. It’s 2024 and we can revisit this design decision now. Computer gaming is not in the same place. Consumers have bought better and are ready for more beef.

Simple.
9:59 - 10:37 Exactly brother thank you for pointing at the elephant in the room..
I like the "cartooney" style over these realistic ones
Also don't need a mega pc to run current wow either
@@bobbylong5664 true it's a big + for me and more accessible to masses
It’s called being stylized, I’d like it if they made the more realistic graphics a toggle or a paid dlc with toggle which would make it more work on the devs, but ideally they’d hire more people to handle the increased work load.
WoW 2 has to be a reboot entirely. Maybe some of these ideas can stay but the graphics should be drastically enhanced, the gameplay simplified and fun and the story completely different. I hope they can destroy the nonsense they built after last titan and move on to thousands of years later unrelated to the god awful things they did in and after BFA storywise.
to be fair if they make wow 2.0 i would want better graphics
its all about the graphics for me too. There's no point in making new stuff if they don't overhaul might as well call it another expansion if they don't touch the graphics
"to be fair" Marcelian never said he doesnt want better graphics, just that it should maintain its signature art style.
(improved polygons/resolution/particles etc)
And thats why youll never get wow 2.0
Yeah ofc, look at all the MMOs with realistic graphics how they killed WoW with every launch.................NOT. Stay down kid and go play FIFA.
WOW Remix is incredible and I hope to see most of it come to life in a full time game mode.
Vanilla + oldschool Cataclysm gearing felt really fun for me back then because the greens and blues mattered so much more and lasted so much longer. Names were better to btw ^^
To me epics lost their value as soon as I experienced my first endgame expansion reset which was from TBC to Wrath.
With this remix type system they could do it as a transmog drop unique to a boss.
@@Gizmo9688 that’s actually a great idea. Bosses that drop transmog pieces and power is more linked to upgrading.
WOW 2 would need much bigger changes that this. It would need to be a new paradigm.
Putting graphics/art style aside, I think completely changing the combat system is what should happen for a WoW 2.0 otherwise whats the point of a "2.0"
And plunderstorm was a perfect direction of a "wow 2.0" combat
Eww.
Green are same ilvl as current
Blues are +1 upgrade level as current
Purples are +2
Right now getting item drops feel kinda meh, at least with this system it’ll feel alot more rewarding
If Blizzard ever *actually* made a WoW sequel and didn't name it Worlds of Warcraft (instead of just calling it World of Warcraft 2 or something equally lame), it would be a massive missed opportunity, in my most humble opinion.
What i love most of pandaria remix is the gem system. I love the possibility to swap my secondary stats.
WoW with some more 'realistic' graphics would bring SO much new people into the game. Much more catchy. I showed WoW to all my frieds (we are all long time gamers) and their first unanimous reaction was "damn the game looks like shit". I can only wish we had those UE5 graphics.
If you look only at graphics you are not a ''gamer''....
whats the point of wow 2.0 if you dont run it on the unreal engine, that is the future of all gaming, why fight it
I think the sentiments you shared are felt by everyone in my guild and literally everyone ive spoke to
My suggestion to improve the current retail gearing system: make it so we can upgrade paths, so from veteran fi champion if we clear content that could give us champ track items.
This is kind of clickbait in a way. Why would a few system updates, qol, etc be a WoW 2.0?
Wouldn’t this be regular WoW changing direction?
from a graphics point of view a wow 2 would be most likely to look like overwatch
So like disney
Great video. Many of your thoughts led to a really fun and interesting conversation with friends about its current state of WoW and how it could become so much better and enjoyable. I’m really excited about its potential future.
When I think of WoW 2.0 i think about better encounter design with less ability vomit, skill prune and disabling every calculative addon - especially weakauras. I don't care about remix-style gearing tbh
totally agree we dont need half the skills on the bars, but you have the old school andy;s that wont as many buttons as possible, to me I would rather have a more simplified rotation with better encounters, so i dont have to look at cool downs every 20 seconds
we got WoW 2.0 with an engine without spaghetti code and more than 30fps in a 30man raid without having a 2.000€ PC :D
I have 2000 pc 4090 i9 . And I still get 30 fps

(or whatever stat)
a lot of these systems are perfectly fine for a mode that is considered a just-for-fun thing. and even though they feel good and right, they wont feel good in an actual competetive season.
i'm all up for getting overpowered, because overpowered is fun, but a majority of the wow community dont want that.
best example are the tinker-gems. they are basically azirte armor without any azerite-level hurdles on your necklace. in bfa that was one of the biggest fun killers, for both players and the devs. in pandaria remix it's fun and imbalanced.
Remix isnt WoW 2.0 its just a game mode that they are experimenting on like blizzard always does in each expansions, they experiment then forget sooo next xpac dont think they'll bring this mode back. They wont.
so people still think this is how the upgrade system works...1:35...if only once 70 the ilvl stops in heroic dungeons etc at 346 how do you upgrade past that well you will need to be lucky to get a drop past 346 for example a helm 360 in your bag or equip slot to then turn around and upgrade that specific slot piece to 360...aka the 346 helm you have in your bag or equip slot now if it only required bronze and not just bronze and a specific ilvl i could see all the dumb things about wanting more bronze but none of it matters since your basically not taking that high ilvl with you to begin with into TWW if lucky 400+ so live the short term power fantasy you already get in Dragon Flight minus all the Gems and tinkers
how people keep misinforming and saying all you need is 70 and loads of bronze to upgrade all the way to 556 hurts my brain...
Side Note have enjoyed mop remix regardless of all the toxic nonsense about bronze and the end game 1% trash and making it like a second job but got all my collections and mounts from it so its nice to finally take a 2/3 month break and chill and play other games and do irl stuff till TWW...
Man after playing remix, I really don’t want to go back to retail 😂😂😂
Could they please nerf the bronze cost in remix, alot of players including myself is struggling getting into HC and mythic content for achivs PLZZ
click bait.
remix sucks in too many different ways lol
If wow keeps improving. Maybe I will play it in 6 years.
dark days of the shadowlands XD had me cracking up....true though....still have a little shadowlands ptsd =)
PVP needs to be changed completely, half the clases are unplayable right now.
Are Blizz saying I can get Mythic Gear from PvE and if so how do I get Mythic Gear?
Why do you want mythic gear if you can't raid anyway?

Azerite Random procs was horrible, we dont need more dmg sources 😅

Lower graphics allows more PCs to play.
I mean, that was the issue in the 2000’s and maybe into 2010, but in 2024 that really should not be as much of an issue. Computer gaming has improved, consumer products are much improved and gamer knowledge is much higher. Most, if not all of us have “Rigs” now. We have to accept the game has changed. The mindset of kids playing 20 years ago is completely different to the crack head kids now who need constant rewards. Might be time to quit.
