- Today we are in Chicago! It is home of the National Sports Cards show convention, and I took the weekend to see if there will be a ton of soccer cards collectors at the Chicago spectacular. This sports cards show was definitely a tough one who was also competing with the Midwest Monster in Indy.

I love the fact that this show was "so so" - it keeps it real. Not every show is insane...You are providing credible content. Dallas, Nationals and the Fall Shows will be awesome
facts
The AC National has never been incredible except for deals due to dealers spending their money on gambling and drinks. Thats the only good part of the AC National

Besides Mark (Uncommon Curator), you wont find too much at those Chicago Sports Spectacular shows. They are mainly focused on autographs and autograph collectors. Very tough to go there expecting much as far as cards are concerned.

It’s all relevant to what your inventory is. I set up at this same show and had over $40k in sales for the weekend , my best show ever. My inventory consists of both vintage and modern in baseball, basketball and football with no hockey or soccer. So if your just focused on one sport like soccer then you’re going to have a tough time at the Chicago shows - you’re just limiting yourself to a smaller audience. Plus this summer show is nothing like the spring and fall shows there, they only set up half the amount of vendor tables. But that also means half the normal amount of competition, so with the right kind of inventory and less competition can result in a big show.

Soccer, with the exception of a few stars, falls into the next big thing category that investor types poured money into. They weren’t collectors, just flippers. Do you know lots of people who follow soccer? I don’t.

Dude your experience with the “cardboard” comment is so similar to my experience this past weekend in Raleigh. There is a very real difference between those who deal because love and also need to and those who just need to. It’s disappointing because the identity of “hobby” gets smaller and smaller.
Luckily, there are traders like you and other newer collectors who are trying to rebuild the culture around cards and make it about the love of the game and community. Keep the energy going man!
The CSS people really messed up having it the same weekend as Midwest monster imo. The one back in March was way better but hopefully they redeem theirselves in the November show 👍🏽
I’m from Chicago they used to not charge to get into that show. Then last year they charged $10 then next show it was $15. I passed on going to this show because of that and the weather was nice. Thanks for the vlog sorry the show was lame. It normally isn’t!
You hit on a good point dealers are not willing to trade, and this is one major reason why I stopped going to card shows all together.
I really liked the video. Hits and misses. Ebbs and flows. It's all part of the whole.

The Summer CSS is traditionally a bad show. The March show rocked and I expect the November show to be rocking.
Great video man, love the being real component where it’s not just positive to the moon and back. Curious, after Friday why did you not just pack up and go to Midwest monster? Why did you choose Chicago over it??
Soccer is just hockey with a ball. The hockey market is picking up, but I feel your pain.
I was at the sports show, too, last weekend. Not sure if it was because it was Father's Day weekend or what but it was almost like a ghost town in there compared to previous shows. Normally the big sports shows are packed.

Yea this show was pretty tough. Took my buddy to it and wasn’t much trading going on.
I set up the Sunday after the Midwest show near Cincinnati Ohio. I made 8.00 in sales I think the inflation and high gas prices have really affected the whole market. There are good buys out there to be had if you got the cash
This video is based on opinion, I do agree that it was promoted poorly because the Monster was on the same weekend but the Monster was not that good either. I'm a small fish compared to you 3 guys sitting to my right... 😆 yeah I just exposed myself🤣... Thursday was dry by Friday and Saturday I rock the house buying, selling and trading. You just gotta have the right cards, just can't have 1 spot or you'll get the same results every time you set up. I like how you did on your last day by trying to keep positive vibes but all in all great show could've been promoted better I'll give that. Thanks for coming out to set up anyway and thanks to all that came out to support, love the content👍🏽

I was at the midwest monster, but only made it to trade night due to work. Trade night was like a show in itself! I'll be heading back to the midwest monster in October to the actual show and trade night.
Man I understand that that vendor was probably having a shit show as well but to be so fkn rude when someone's trying to do some business with you... maybe he deserves the shit show!

It is the most frustrating thing when you go to a show and this happens because the show is on a bad date, like having Philly show while Dallas going on, or having it on a holiday...the vendors need to pay more attention to this stuff, it is really disgusting that they don't care, because as long as they make their money they are happy. I am not saying that is the case here, but I have been to show where that was 100% the case. Some people who have had a show for so long don't even promote it anymore.

The City has limited opening up anything for so long I think it is going to take a few years before people finally get back to normal life.
One month they open everything then the next close it down again. They did their job in scaring the public and big events are paying a price for it.
I knew it would be way under attended just from the other events I have been to.
On a side note, these Sports shows need to take some of the cues from Comicons to help give people something else to do other than walk around in circles all day.
They need to hold panels and lectures to give customers some content other than buying to keep them there or coming back day after day.
Hold panel discussions on the industry or let companies discuss coming plans and get feedback. Anything other than stand in line for a signing or walking the floor 100 times to see things you already saw 10 minutes before.

When you crack a PSA and send it somewhere else, trying to get a better grade. Does PSA know? Because PSA might have let’s say 4 cards at an 8, but you just cracked one and that should make the other 3 go up.

Not a soccer fan, those guys were smart selling those cards to a soccer freak during soccer season, world cups are 4 years so these kids knew where to bring their soccer players

Tyson Fury Rookie Boxing Cards are the cards to buy and hold on to. There are more Michael Jordan Rookie cards and Wayne Gretzky Rookie cards then there are Tyson Fury Rookie cards. Tyson Fury cards are very Limited and only a small amount were made. As long as he stays Undefeated, his cards will continue to rise even Higher!! Very Low Print run, and Tyson Fury is Undefeated which Does anyone know the current price for this 2020 Tyson Fury Topps on Demand set ? ? I have the Autograph Set and it's unopened. You like soccer and that's cool but soccer is a niche and not many people like soccer cards, you gotta do with what people are going for, you guys didn't need to pay for a huge spot you lost a lot of money when you guys could of been walking around and worked your deals, you pretty much paid a lot of money for that spot to buys soccer cards. I cant tell you how boring it is to watch soccer and even more boring to watch you buy soccer cards wasted 10 minutes of my life, so of course I have to waste another minute and a half to leave u this love letter! I would of rather of watched baseball
