Zova just a quick tip (I don't know if this works on hoplite) but atleast in vanilla Minecraft you can smelt diamond armor to get a diamond back so it could be worth sometimes hanging onto extra diamond pieces
Unless its changed here, the first level of sharpness increases damage by 1, then each subsequent level by 0.5 (in java edition), so it would not unless they did the same base damage.

u cannot smelt dia armor into diamonds, it only works with iron and gold
