I left the east coast and when my family visited they said “I see why you’re here” 😂🤣😂🤣 I’m very careful not to call the East “home” because it affected my ability to make LA my home. So now I say I’m from the East and my family is there but my home is LA. I don’t ever see myself leaving at least anytime soon 🌴🏄🏽♂️☀️🍹

Do it! I am a black woman as well, and I moved out here back in 2013to attend college and build my career. August will make it 9 years that I have lived in LA (I'm from Dallas). I flew out to college alone with a giant luggage, a backpack, and a duffle bag. I'm an artist and designer, and I've worked with a lot of well-known organizations and companies, some being government orgs. Accomplishing your dreams here is very possible if you stay consistent and focused!
It’s nice to see a LA positive video! And people need to remember LA County is huge! There is so much to explore and yes you can’t beat the weather. And the beachy areas like Newport Beach are sooooo beautiful. It’s paradise. I absolutely love living here and will never move back to NY.
I lived in Newport Beach. Although It's in Orange County. Very different then LA . Lower taxes, Less crime, etc. Manhattan Beach or Redondo is good for LA County.

If you want some good Asian fusion food, you have to check out the San Gabriel Valley, specifically Alhambra, Arcadia, Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights.

I am so happy to watch your video because I feel like everyone is so focused on the bad sides of LA but my heart has always felt that this is the right place for me because I’ve always met people from there that I immediately click with and loved the laid back culture, healthy lifestyle, rollerskate scene, and young creatives everywhere. Hi Tyra. 👋 I love your videos. I visited LA for the first time in March. I liked it very much. I had never made an effort to visit LA because I viewed it as a place of constant chaos with the fires, earthquakes, and homelessness. To my surprise and delight it had a chill vibe to it. I plan to visit LA again later this year to hike Runyon trail.
About 15 years ago, I left Washington DC and moved out to LA. I left after five years. I could afford to live there, for me it was the a lack of a black cultural identity as you would find in places like the DMV, New York, and Chicago. If you are white or Hispanic, you feel right at home in LA. Not so much if you’re black.

Im from Chicago, been scared of moving to LA, I liked how you talked about God right away, I think God is the only one that will protect me everywhere I go, I have to take that leap of Faith and trust God I will be ok. I hear so many bad things about LA and bad areas, and how I have to be careful and how expensive it is and how Im going to survive over there, its all negative and it gives me anxiety, and gives me second thoughts. Should I go and follow my dreams? Or just stay here in Chicago. I studied Film and Video 12 years ago and always wanted to go. Now during this COVID time its just making me think and say maybe I could still follow my dreams and make it as a filmmaker. And yes Im tired of the cold and snow too!! lol

Unpopular opinion: sweet green is overrated and expensive compared to other salad bars in LA. They are almost all on the same level. Dressings and sourcing of course being a bit different with each salad bar. Sweet green is just the more “popular” option.
I love sweet green, but I do agree that they are expensive! Like I said in the video, I’m new to salads, so once I found sweet green, I didn’t look further for another place 😅

I moved from San Diego to South Florida. Miami is L.A. on coke. Fast pace. Can get pretty wild. It's cool to visit but not for me to live in. Rather love somewhere more chill.

Talk to veterans not people who are so fresh they don’t understand stand the political climate. Y’all new people keep making this videos because your still in honeymoon stages. It’s all cap trust me I live in dtla and make 116k I have a whole foods in my building and I’m telling you it aint worth it. If you have the slightest bit of understanding with finances you’ll know La is the least friendly business state.
I moved to LA from Boston in 2016. I have found it extremely difficult to make and keep friends here. Some are natives and some are transplants like me. Maybe it’s the whole “I’m in LA now” vibe from the others who moved here and the “you aren’t from here” vibe from the locals. Plus paying $1400 for a studio is overrated. If I moved out tomorrow I’m sure the unit would be rented for $2k a month. LA has some pluses but it has tons of minuses.

Jeffersonvill Indiana and Shepardvill Kentucky the police pulled me over 24/7 and they suspected that I am a black man. I am a dark skin Mexicano. Mishawaka Indiana and Elkhart Indiana and Michigan totally different, i have Irish and Italian friends which racism is looked down on. I didn’t know . I love Downey California, I love my asian, black, Jewish and etcccc freinds from all over the world. I realized that I am in paradise. My brothers from Compton and Inglewood never experienced racism. Florida is nice, but prefer the weather and variety of landscapes (beaches snow capped mountains, deserts, rugged coastlines, the redwoods, sequoias, vineyards, Yosemite, Tahoe, Big Sur, etc). I actually moved from California to Florida, but missed California and moved back after a few years.
@@DavidinSLO Funny you say that. I moved to Florida from Cali. But my heart strings keeps pulling me back to the West Coast. Florida has its perks, but Cali hits different in a life way.
It’s just gross everywhere in SoCal. I lived in LA/Redondo/Manhattan areas and it’s not for me. San Diego is pretty awesome, id probably live there. But I’m too much a Florida person to live in Cali. Yeah, it’s humid in South Florida. But Cali is definitely for the younger crowd. I went for work and lived there during the pandemic and it sucked balls. Yeah, some parts are cool. But meh… I’ll pass. If I ever move back I’ll live in San Diego.

Jeffersonvill Indiana and Shepardvill Kentucky the police pulled me over 24/7 and they suspected that I am a black man. I am a dark skin Mexicano. Mishawaka Indiana and Elkhart Indiana and Michigan totally different, i have Irish and Italian friends which racism is looked down on. I didn’t know . I love Downey California, I love my asian, black, Jewish and etcccc freinds from all over the world. I realized that I am in paradise. My brothers from Compton and Inglewood never experienced racism. I told them to visit Kentucky .. they still think I am full of it. You have to expeicne life.. I also worked in waxahachie Texas the weather and tornato is…. I love Downey California

Florida is nice, but prefer the weather and variety of landscapes (beaches snow capped mountains, deserts, rugged coastlines, the redwoods, sequoias, vineyards, Yosemite, Tahoe, Big Sur, etc). I actually moved from California to Florida, but missed California and moved back after a few years.

It’s just gross everywhere in SoCal. I lived in LA/Redondo/Manhattan areas and it’s not for me. San Diego is pretty awesome, id probably live there. But I’m too much a Florida person to live in Cali. Yeah, it’s humid in South Florida. But Cali is definitely for the younger crowd. I went for work and lived there during the pandemic and it sucked balls. Yeah, some parts are cool. But meh… I’ll pass. If I ever move back I’ll live in San Diego.
