    Good way to set the controller to the 28th day of the month to get it to do equalization mode. Esp if you have an old battery or one that ran a little dry and has white buildup on the plates and need to boil the plates clean to get the electrolytes to disperse into the water. I just wonder if it needs to be set a day earlier on the 27th so that when the next day comes the 28th will run its modes, or if you can just do it the same day and it will figure it out. Its cloudy today but I will test it out asap.

    Sir do you know what Victron programming parameters that are equal to EPEVER parameters.
    I want to program my EPEVER 4215 similar to "off grid garage " Victron settings.
    So sad that technical information from these companies is so scares.

    • @The4Crawler
      @The4Crawler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just work out the voltages that you want to use. Since the Epever controller doesn't know about what type of battery, simple method is to work out your volts/cell then multiply that by how many series cells you have and that's what you plug into the controller, under the USER battery type:
      th-cam.com/video/jUQOF7qrKLE/w-d-xo.html
      This video is part 1 of 3 in a series.
      Note, you can only set voltages to the nearest 0.1v, so you may need to adjust the settings to match. Also, be aware there are some settings that depend on other settings, like voltage X has to less than voltage Y.

    • @The4Crawler
      @The4Crawler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Assuming you used the flooded battery type, should be good to go. You'll only get to 14v or higher during boost or equalization charge. If you want to customize the battery voltages, see this video about the "USER" battery settings:
      th-cam.com/video/4XhvwruVEJU/w-d-xo.html
      If the battery voltage doesn't drop to the set voltage, it may not enter the boost charge phase and stay at the float voltage which is usually around 13.8 volts.
      You should also check that you have good connections between the solar panels and charge controller and battery and charge controller with minimum voltage drops.

    Hello, thank you for the video. It helped me to understand, that sometimes you need to scroll to all the sub pages. I am wondering if something is not right with my connections or setup. I have installed 4 batteries with 100AH in parallel, which should conclude to a 12V 400AH setup. But at monitoring the batterie I see that: 13,5V, 20.5A and the battery symbol is almost full. Should it not be close to 400A then?

    • @christianwanke174
      @christianwanke174 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      13.5 Volts while charging.

    • @The4Crawler
      @The4Crawler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 13.5V and 20.5A values are just the values at that time while charging. The most current you'll see is whatever the controller is rated at, say 40 amps. I'm not sure exactly what the AH setting is used for in the controller. I think it may be used in the float charge mode somehow, but I've never been able to devise a test to confirm that. The battery state of charge icon is basically useless. I think it's triggered off of battery voltage, but since there's no battery voltage sense connection on the controller, the voltage will go up or down based on the current flowing in or out of the controller.

    • @christianwanke174

      @@The4Crawler Thank you! So my best shot would to use a multimeter and check them indivually, I guess. Also, I think my inverter has not a deep discharge protection and gets even more confused while I charge. How can I protect the batteries then?

    • @The4Crawler
      @The4Crawler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christianwanke174 Yes, a voltage check right at each battery's terminals, while at rest would be a good way to check each one. Most inverters have some sort of low battery voltage cutoff as does the charge controller DC load output.

      Generally, AGM = Sealed. On these controllers, Sealed and Gel are nearly the same. Sealed differs by doing an equalization charge daily while Gel doesn't. I compromise on my AGMs, set them to Gel, then once a month I do an Equalize charge by changing the setting to Sealed for a day:

    Glad I found your channel! I havethe same setup as you, 4215bn with mt50, and i see that your voltage displayed under the pv icon is 35.6v. whenever I connect my solar panels in series, it will display the accumulated voltage for a few seconds, then it will go down to between 13-20v, immediately, even if the weather hasn't changed (no clouds and fulll sunlight). Does yours stay up at higher voltages for more than a few seconds?

    • @The4Crawler
      @The4Crawler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine will hang out around the Voc of the panels for a minute or so after connecting it to the panels. Then the voltage will slowly drop down to the Vmp value (around 35v) as long as there's good sun on the panels. It'll end up down at the battery voltage (16v in my case) at the beginning and end of the day when there's not enough power to keep the controller in MPPT mode.

    • @The4Crawler
      @The4Crawler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It would usually operate in the 100v - 105v range with partial sun. But since I had about 50% more PV input than the controller could handle, it would max out at 40 amps charging then it would drop the PV voltage to limit the charging current, usually into the 80v - 90v range as I recall. With 3 x 335W (1005W) input and 16v x 40a (640W) output, the controller can't use the full panel output in full sun.

The other battery types are hard coded at the factory. USER is user-programmable. So in the #4 Control Parameter screen, hit OK, enter the password, then up/down arrow to change battery type to USER. Then use the right arrow to step through the screens and enter all the voltages and times that you want. HInt, copy all those down from whatever battery type is closest to what you want then make whatever changes you want and enter that data back into the USER parameters.

    160W with 20A MPPT Epever charge controller with Victron 125Ah SuperCycle leisure battery.When i got my leisure battery delivered i dry test fited everything to make sure its all good.My first question is:Why the MT50 remote meter shows my battery is fully charge (14.1V) with the "smiley face",but the actual load in the battery is just 11.7V (just received and still did not make the first 24 hours charging).The seccond question is even if a put a load i can not see the AMPS in and out on the remote meter,it shows just 0.00 i guess this is because if i dont put load via solar charge controller outputs i am not going to see the amps flow on the MT50,am i right for this or not?If so i guess i have to install a separate "battery meter" where i can get the correct load and condition on the battery.Also there is a option "Charging energy history" u can check daily and monthly how much power you getting,but after 4 days mine still shows 0 on everything,thanks in advance

      I'm finding my meter to be inaccurate.

    If you were going to take the time to make an instructional video on using the MT-50 with an Epever Solar Charge controller....don't you think it would be a good idea to show the viewers what wires should be connected first ?

      Sure, if I were making a How To Hook Up the MT-50 Remote Display video, then yes. I covered that in an earlier video:
      th-cam.com/video/RXNjF7WD_KY/w-d-xo.html
      This video, as titled, was how to set the time and date which was a topic requested by many subscribers and viewer.

    Where the HELL do I get a password?

    • @The4Crawler

      Unless you have set a password, just use the default password "000000" which is displayed/entered by default and hit the OK button.

      On mine, ESC key to the main menu, arrow down to the 4. Control Para., hit OK to go into that set of screens. Then click the OK button again and the PSW prompt should pop up with "000000" displayed. If it's not been changed, that's the default, then click OK to enter that password. You should now see a highlighted part of the screen. Up/Down to change it, left/right to go to the previous/next item. Then OK to exit that screen and if any changes were made you'll be asked to Save/Cancel the changes.
      That's how it works on my controller. Maybe yours is messed up. Try the Factory Reset, menu item 9 on my controller/display. If that doesn't work, contact EpEver/EpSolar support and see if they can help:

    You made a video on how to set the time and date? If you need to check your MT-50 to find that out you’re in need of therapy

      It matters if you want to make use of the energy logging features in the display. For example per day, month, year generation numbers are tied to the time and date set in the controller. So at the end of the month, if I want to record how much solar energy was produced in the last month, that number is only accurate if the controller knows what last month is.
