Exactly the video I've been looking for! Thank you for showing how the side panels come off, every other video on this topic omits that part which just happens to be key to the whole fix. 5 stars ⭐

Brilliant video - very helpful. As previous reviewer mentioned getting the side panels off is pretty tricky but key to easy removal & replacement of the back panel. Getting your fingers in at the pack of the side panels is difficult as you need to apply a lot of force to release the clip on the rear - I ended up using a curved pressed steel bracket (a spare garden tool hanging bracket that I found in the garage) and this worked well to lever the clip out of the retaining hole and then just pull the whole panel sideways towards the door opening to release.
Also, I had to repeat the job because first time I switched it back on again it made a beeping/alarm sound every time the fridge or freezer door was opened. Turned out that the fan connector was loose (its a bit fiddly) - so make sure the in-line connector is secure when you're putting the rear panel back in.

Good video. I too have this f&p fountain fridge.
My fridge had overflow and a dry sump in the back.
I couldn't get any purchase to remove the side panels. Even trying the defrosting scraper for leverage.
So fully defrosted the fridge freezer and then poured very hotyywater into the bottom of the back panel of the freezer at the head of the overflow tube. It overflowed into the freezer compartment and then settled into a gurgle as the rear sump tray filled. Your problem, as mine was, may simply be a stubborn chip of ice. This first test could save a lot of mucking about with panels and save your fingernails!

Many thanks Joe, this was a great help. We couldn't manage to get the side panels off, so got a bit of curtain wire and fed it up from the bottom and water quickly flowed.

Thank you for the great video. This is the second time this has happened to me. Another option without removing all the side and back panels is to remove the small panel in the freezer section. There are 2 screws. You will be able to see the rubber hose going down. Use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Go to the back of the fridge and undo the tray where the heating elements are. Put a towel on the compressor and put a wire into the hose to unplug it. Water will come out .

Thanks for pointing that out, mine has that access panel too, very helpful. Didn’t have to drop the rear drain tray either, just used a hooked stiff wire

I cannot thank you enough, you have saved me a lot of money and difficulty getting a new fridge up the stairs of my unit. My fridge was a bit of a different model, but your instructions were still spot on. Feeling so accomplished right now!!

Thanks for a great video. Just a couple of things
    1. When removing the rails, the left hand tab lifts up, the right side tabs pushes down. A bit of wriggling is needed when replacing them
    2. The bastard back panel in your video, the corners were snagging. We levered it out with car upholstery clip removers. One to hold it inwards towards the middle of the fridge and the other directly under the tab levering it up. It will pop out

Your a legend Joe, worked a treat, thank you. Even broke the same clips you did ha ha. I'll aim to get the back off in one piece by getting the fingers a little further in to get a hold on both, should there be a next time...

Excellent video Joe! Thanks so much for posting the video. Never would have figured it out myself.
Can I suggest that you change the title to include "Freezer cold but fridge not cooling (accessing/replacing evaporator & fan)".
I had all but given up on finding anything on TH-cam but kept searching until I found your video.
Also perhaps include the other models that it applies to in your description. Mine is a E522B but it is identical.
Mine had an iceberg at the top of the evaporator that blocked any air getting pulled up into the fridge section, the oposite to the problem you described. I think what happened is the freezer door was left open and frost formed on the evaporator by the fans running overtime.

thanks mate. this was what I was looking for, could see the problem was exactly the same , but couldnt work out panel removal. Used bent nose thin pliers to get in behind those side panels instead of my fat fingers and we were golden. many thanks

Thank you very much Joe. I fixed our leaking fridge yesterday. I could not have done it without your video. How did people fix anything before TH-cam? You explained the really fiddly bits very well. Why are those panels so hard to remove? But your video reassured me that I was doing the right thing and that the panels wouldn't break.
    Much appreciated, thank you again.

Works on a RF522BRPW6. I did find out the hard way when removing the back panel that the fins are thin and very sharp. The drain area was full of ice and it took 20+ minutes with a hair dryer to thaw that out. It still wasn't draining until a bit of wire jiggled about did the trick.
We had previously had a slightly smaller model F&P and the little catch on the bottom of the door that assisted with closing was prone to breakage, and we had problems with the back of the fridge icing up. It's the same catch on this model but they must have improved the material because we have only had to replace one.
Listen for the doors pulling fully closed to seal - a cracking noise after you close them. The fridge needs to be properly levelled as the frame is flexible and this prevents the doors from fully closing and sealing.

10:10 whats that metal wire looking thing sticking all he way down to the drain? is it something we can use to unplug the blockage??

    • @dmor036
      @dmor036 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think it’s a heater. It connects to the coil, so during the defrost cycle it will get warm via the coil and heat up the drain so it doesn’t block up with ice

my fisher and paykel freezer evaporator cooling fan is broken. i bought this refrigerator in the year 1999. Model : Shacklock E372B.
can you pls tell me, where can i find a cooling fan? currently i am using 12volt, 3.12 Watt cooling fan from local store. But performance is not good. the entire cooling system is deteriorated. Not sure whether i need to charge r134a refregerant. can you pls guide me? its a upside down refrigerator. freezer is somewhat ok, but upper part fridge not cooling. And the outside body is very hot. I can not access to condenser coil, bcz it is sealed inside.
