Ibert is a composer who constantly surprises me with the range of his work, from concert works with unorthodox instruments to film scores that include Welles’ MACBETH. Thanks for sharing this rare gem.
@@earlokin1822 In orchestral music, I love the alto saxophone solo in Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" as well as the tenor saxophone solos in "Romeo and Juliet" by Prokofiev. Bizet wrote some alto sax solos in his L'Arlesienne suites, and Bernstein wrote some nice parts "West Side Story." Richard Strauss wrote for a quartet of saxophones in his "Sinfonia Domestica" but I doubt anyone includes them.

What a glorious sound is produced by the alto sax'. Thank you for sharing this gem.
Mule was quite a virtuoso! He became the saxophone professor at the Paris Conservatoire.
Fascinating to hear an alto not playing Jazz,
The invention of the saxophone was decades before jazz!
@@BassetHoundTrio I know that. A Belgian called Adolphe Saxe, but you rarely hear anything but Jazz played on it.
