I watched this game in vacation in Cancun. Free shots of tequila for every goal for all the fans rooting on Mexico. And they made two French guys take their flag down, who then stormed away after the first goal went in. That was a special match to watch!

Blanco had more experience and was still a decent player.
And if you would remember well, the player that took the place of Hernandez wasn't Blanco, it was Guillermo Franco, that's the one that should not have played as a starter instead of Hernandez.

I was at the Mex v Arg game and when Bofo started I almost left the stadium! Franco, Perez, & Bofo should have been team managers. Blanco put the team on his back to qualify and Ochoa got robbed a WC. This is coming from the biggest USMNT team fan btw. Also not having Blanco play in 2006 was a shame!!! Those Club America teams were great to watch in the early/mid 2000’s.

I was still young. This is when I was 1 years old,
Ochoa lost his place as starting goalkeeper because he messed up BADLY in several matches leading to the world cup. He gave a few goals away with amateur mistakes, so they prefered a seasoned goalie like Perez. I think Perez did alright.
Zorbak962 Luis Michel was Mexico's best goalkeeper at that time. He should have been the starter.
