      Did you not read the part where I said “the casual fan”? The same casuals who call him boring or say Kobe is so much better. Yeah those ones. All of which is not true by the way.

      @Jared Taylor hes only given the props that his resume demands theres no extra fan fare. Kobe , Lebron , Magic, Bird, Shaq even Jordan arent on that much higher of a level value wise but they got the God treatment because of personality or varying degrees of flashiness, Michael most of all, his resume qualifies him as the goat but people act like he did it by himself.

    MJ said if Phil goes the only other coach he'd play for is Dean Smith. MJ is the man. So he needs someone mentally on his level to play for. At that stage of his career I can see how he'd be unwilling to be teaching young, undevoted players as well as a coach just coming into his own and learning the game himself. Uh-uh.

    This is why most basketball players and legend choose Michael over LeBron, outside of being a physical anomaly, he has little to no fundamentals at all. Fundamentals trumps athletics and flash 9/10 times. Tthe Spurs showed the world that in 2014. This is why MJ and Hakeem would dominate this era. Literally unguardable with their overall fundamentals, athleticism and skillset.

    Everything has a standard. Boxing, Muhammad Ali. Cycling, Lance Armstrong. Golf, Tiger Woods. Track, Usain Bolt. Baseball, Babe Ruth. Soccer, Pele. Hockey, Wayne Gretzky. Swimming, Michael Phelps. Music, Michael Jackson. Acting, Denzel Washington. Comedy, Richard Pryor. Tennis, Serena Williams. MMA, Andersen Silva. Drummer, John Bonham. Guitarist, Jimi Hendrix. Basketball, MICHAEL JORDAN.
    Its about them being the best and dominating in their primes. When it was their time, it was their time and no one else's. No peers. The standards they set gave everybody else something to strive for. No matter how good others are, they will always be compared to the GOAT of whatever they do. GOATs were never compared to anybody. Comparisons don't last. We'll always go back to the GOATs.

      Tim Duncan for a big man was solid fundamentally. Only 1 of a few big men who would shoot a bank shot, and consistently hit with it. You knew on the left side when he spun and shot it was 99% of the time going to be a bank shot, and that it was going in.
      And yes, Budha (Jackson) knew how to handle players and get the best out of them. For MJ he provided a perfect supporting cast and offense (triangle & motion offense). He kept a loose reign on the thoroughbreds of MJ and Pippen. He knew when to pull, and when to give full freedom.

Duncan from 05-16 which is 11 years of his professional career had numbers that of a role player just horrible averages for someone that is considered a "superstar". We criticize kobe for not winning nba finals mvp cuz of shaq but parker and kawhi easily outplayed him in finals to beat him out for nba finals mvp. He had a great run for about first 7 years of his career and everything went downhill after 2005 as a player.

VERY few rookie coaches AND veteran coaches could have pulled off what Phil did molding the team around Micheal and Visa versa. Phil being on the bench as an assistant to Doug Collins helped a bunch to. The BIGGEST question I always had and PLEASE reply with your opinion. Actually, Tim Duncan should be mentioned in the top all time players discussion more. And yes, especially in this decade. Tim Duncan could be argued had a better career than Kobe, Bron for sure, and Shaq. I actually think he should be ranked higher than Shaq and Bron for sure on the all time lists.

    • @alexkinnane
      @alexkinnane 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He can rank higher and has better cases to rank higher than all those guys, in fact I do rank him higher than all those guys, Duncan 4th Kobe being next at 5th then bron 7th Shaq 9th. I have put Kareem and Wilt ahead of Duncan souly out of respect but man do I want to put Duncan 2nd all time, he defiantly has the resume people just love to dismiss it because of arrogance.

    If Tim Duncan played in the East and/or played in the top market like Chicago, NY, or California, Tim would've been more popular and would've been on many people's list as far as one of the high, top best who ever played.
    Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is definitely one of the best.
    It would've been something to see... Championship series between the Bulls and the Rockets when they're on top in the 90s.
    Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs were great! Before the Golden State Warriors became a championship team, San Antonio was the team.
    Steve Kerr definitely brought it from San Antonio to Golden State.

    • @at1212b

      Seriously, if Duncan trained his body like he could have, he would have been 2x greater. Look how he changed after he lost to Lebron in 2013. His redemption year, wow, he looked like a beast. But by then, he was older. That was a scary Tim Duncan.
