- I knew it as American Willowweed, but it has many common names, including Fringed Willowherb, American Willowherb, Slender Willowherb, and Northern Willowherb
Botanically it's known as Epilobium ciliatum, and is in the Willowherb family Onagraceae.
Thanks for the info. I found a couple around my flower gardens that have a pink flower. I find them pretty, and they blend well with the natural look I'm going for in my gardening.
Excellent video, good info. Thx a bunch.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
One of these hitched a ride back home on a nursery plant I bought. Found out from a gardener friend of mine today what it was called. I think it's really cute!
Lol yeah they are cute when they are small rosettes, I agree! But then they bolt and look leggy, and then they seed and you have them forever.
@@GardenUPLandscape Oh absolutely! After a while, that original hitchhiker dried up and died. I was so sad until I saw all its babies growing everywhere! Suffice to say, I have now pulled them all except two. I won't let them get past the seed pod stage lol
Here in CT, it's all in my swampy area, almost 3 feet tall.
@@markscheck wow, that's impressive! I have another species in my yard that gets that tall. I haven't done a video on it yet but it's called Panicle Willowherb.
