I genuinely feel this would be much easier if it had more notes. The amount of times i anticipate a note that isn't there and therefore messup drives me crazy. A couple of sections of the song only has you play 4-5 notes of like 20. I still find this one easier than 2 legs... that songs drives me crazy
I think that Two Legs is a harder song because it splits the rhythms between both hands, whereas every other song in the game (at least up to this one) uses the Left/Chord hand simply for emphasis at the beginning of rhythm patterns.
It just occurred to me that I didn't play these notes correctly. The left stick at 54 seconds is supposed to be a half beat earlier than the right stick. The timing window is big enough that I just barely got greats on them both but you can clearly see that I tried to hit them at the same time 😬
Just Star ranked this earlier, yeah those notes have a little delay between them so you hot the one then very slightly later you hit the other, took me a little while to figure it out in the song but got there in the end, this video helped with that, thanks!@@aethertruck
Finally got the S-class rating! Had to speed it up a couple of ticks to get it right. When I first saw this song I said to myself “well I guess I won’t be getting S ratings on all of them after all” but turns out it can be done!!

Funnily enough, Two Legs took way more time to get down than this. Two legs I had to use a video and slow it down to 50% and practice like I do my trumpet playing (slow as all hell). First attempt afterwards, nailed it. Instant star rank. But it’s way too hard to do over and over and expect a different result. They should have added a practice mode for EVERY piece.

The audio is definitely synced a little off, the real problem is that they're coordinating the timing of the sounds with the timing of the inputs. As far as rhythm games go, this game has an extremely lenient great window. The problem could be solved one of two ways: 1.) make the songs like Guitar Hero where the correct sounds play as long as you keep your combo, or 2.)reduce the size of the great window, so if your timing makes it sound off, you get a worse judgement. Because right now, we can hit notes extremely early and still get greats.
This might be late, is your sound output connected via Bluetooth? There’s latency. After I plug in headphones through the controller, easily perfect in a few tries.
Honestly, if we could use buttons instead of the thumbsticks, I feel like this mini-game would be a hell of a lot easier. Sometimes the sticks don't register the right direction. And the fast movement, I find myself accidentally hitting notes when switching to the correct one.
Oh, absolutely. Buttons would make the game a joke. The timing window is pretty big, just stick accuracy makes your mean error a bit bigger. Which imo is fine, as long as you try to play early. You can hit the notes so early that it sounds like a beginner pianist, and still get greats. The secret is that hitting on time makes you prone to accidentally triggering the next note if you are even slightly inaccurate, but if you play early you'll never have that specific problem. It's easier to time early if you disable soundbars and external audio hardware.
@@xXElement I would get so lost with that control scheme, it would be 3d battle brawler all over again but this time I can't pause buffer between inputs, analogs are fine assuming you don't have any stick drift issues and the input windows are insanely forgiving, probably because of how an analog stick functions. I’ve noticed that the faster you set the speed, the less this problem occurs. I got it to A by playing it on speed difficulty 5, so the hardest one, it is was easier than on 1, just because my inputs actually registered correctly this way. It’s weird and annoying, that’s for sure. I wish I could play this one glitch free
There’s a ~30 second part of the song where the left note comes slightly faster than the right one, so practice leading with the left joystick for those quick two-step notes.
Song speed has nothing to do with how fast the song goes, it only has to do with how fast the notes scroll. As for the metronome, it can help get you back on time. Some of these songs have vanishingly quiet sections and I can really only tell, visually, the timing sometimes.

This song showed me how Im getting old, I used to do DDR on expert so I could do timing, but its too fast and its hard for me to keep eyes on both circles for simultaneous notes, the best I can get is a mid B
Keeping your eyes on both circles is probably a mistake. I suggest keeping your eyes on the right circle and 100% allowing peripheral vision to see the left. There's way fewer notes on the left. You could probably get an A while almost completely ignoring the left stick if you are good enough on the right

I just learned that this one is not needed for any trophies! Great job, but man this one is just awful... A lot of inputs have absolutely no relation to the music being played and the piano version is just god-awful...
This took me about a half hour. What some people don't know about me though is that rhythm games are my most played genre. A lot of the same skills absolutely translate from game to game. People who have never played a rhythm game in their lives are probably not going to be able to do this even if they had several days of practice. They didn't expect non rhythm gaming standard FF game players to be able to do it so they didn't give any rewards for it. It's just there for fun and the game doesn't record your accomplishments anywhere except for the song menu in the piano minigame.
There isn't a reward for getting a star on any song at all, period. Stars are just there for the fun of it. You only need A ranks, and only on the first 6 songs. You can ignore this song entirely.
I think most of this just takes practice. The hard part, like in Cinco de Chocobo, is the variation. After 0:53 you'll notice the notes aren't simultaneous, they're ever so slightly staggered, just for that one part. Noticing it is hard though; had to watch this youtube video to notice it. The game does you no favours, what with the aggressive metronome coming back in if you make a mistake, and the split second pause on the button prompts despite the music continuing at its own pace. It's really badly designed in that it doesn't really offer you a proper practice mode; getting things right means you sail smoothly along, but one mistake and you're back to square one.
Eh, the game places no expectation on you to get a perfect score. Songs are very short and players can use the video save function on the ps5 to review the details. This may be a final fantasy game but practice mode isn't something you'll find in a lot of rhythm games. I don't know how much effort it would take to incorporate a practice mode, but there are only 8 songs. It would feel like a waste on that basis alone, especially since they're all so easy compared to anything that calls itself a rhythm game, even the two completely optional ones but especially the 6 main ones required for rewards. What I would like to see is an explanation of what note speed does. People think it makes it harder to increase the speed and they don't wanna try it, if they did they'd discover it makes reading a lot easier. Also maybe give a prompt to this song and One Winged Angel that tells you something like "this song is optional, and will not have associated data included in the play log". Something like that so people don't get too bent out of shape about how hard they are. Because they give literally no rewards and you need to access a piano to even see your records.

The timing window for greats is ginormous in this game compared to virtually every other judgement based rhythm game, so when I sightread these songs I usually get all greats except for the 6-10 misses til I learn it lol

I think you're probably misunderstanding the timing of the note you are missing. Some of these notes have tricky and deceptive timing. Increasing the speed makes it easier to tell exactly when the note is.
I don’t believe so. This and One Winged Angel are prizes for doing the minigames to completion (except you don’t need to do this one for One Winged Angel).
No reward whatsoever, but slow speed doesn't make it easier to execute. On the contrary, most rhythm games have variable scroll speed options and most find that there's more clarity when you speed up the notes, ensuring there are never too many notes on the display at once. Try again with speed 2 or 3, and I'll bet you have an easier time.
The judgment system allows you to get the best rating for every note, even if your timing is off a little. The minigame also features a timing based music playback, meaning that the piano sound is played relative to your stick inputs. These two features combined means you can still get a perfect rating even if your timing is off, but the reason it sounds off is because I was off, not because of the game. An even more skilled player could make it sound perfect

Unfortunately, nothing, as far as I can tell. Dorian gives you this sheet music after getting A ranks on every other song, and he stops tracking your scores after that. Which imo is the right thing to do because this minigame asks far too much of the average non-rhythm gamer. I'm just happy they gave us a song hard enough to feel like a real rhythm game.

People praise this game, but the reality is far from what it looks like. The story is horrible and ruined, side quests are horribles, mini games are too hard and don’t get me started with the piano either. Whoever came out with the idea of using the stick as the piano notes, there’s a special place in hell for him

For anyone struggling, try turning off the sound on your TV and just doing it by visuals. Might seem weird but this was much easier for me

The judgment system allows you to get the best rating for every note, even if your timing is off a little. The minigame also features a timing based music playback, meaning that the piano sound is played relative to your stick inputs. These two features combined means you can still get a perfect rating even if your timing is off, but the reason it sounds off is because I was off, not because of the game. An even more skilled player could make it sound perfect

Unfortunately, nothing, as far as I can tell. Dorian gives you this sheet music after getting A ranks on every other song, and he stops tracking your scores after that. Which imo is the right thing to do because this minigame asks far too much of the average non-rhythm gamer. I'm just happy they gave us a song hard enough to feel like a real rhythm game.

People praise this game, but the reality is far from what it looks like. The story is horrible and ruined, side quests are horribles, mini games are too hard and don’t get me started with the piano either. Whoever came out with the idea of using the stick as the piano notes, there’s a special place in hell for him
If he deserves a place in hell then I'll give him my ticket to Heaven because I loved it. I've played dozens of music games over the decades and I think this was a very fun design
