Congratulations Nick for tackling the ceiling problem! You could have just sat in the corner with a cup of coffee and stared at the problem! But no….instead you tackled it! Way to go.
Keep an eye on that expanding foam during the hottest summer months - depending on the type, you may find it expands further. There is a type that is specifically used as an adhesive for polystyrene insulation, which has a low exansion rate. Fingers crossed! Been having a Google and what you might try to get a hold of is a product called Toupret Fibracyl, (with a name like that it has to be French), which is a flexible filler with I think fibres, specifically designed for cracks where there might be movement. It seemed to be well-regarded by folks on a DIY forum.
It takes a certain amount of courage to face up to ceilings. Not to mention all the other daunting tasks you two take on. I still can’t get over the huge tires in the wine cellar area. Nice to see that you have some irises blooming already, must mean that Spring can’t be far behind!
Tedious work, Nick, but you did a 'cracking" job!! See what I did there? It would have driven me crazy to have spent countless hours doing such labor-intensive work, but the finished result is something you can be proud of!! Clare, you can take a breath now knowing you can take a trip upstairs without 😱. Blessings to you both, Flora & Merlot. I always worry when I don't see both of them in a video & I pray Flora is well! Thank you for indulging me & my concerns. 🇺🇸
Well done Nick for clearing up after yourself Clare would be so pleased with you👏😁. Ceilings looking really good hope it solved the problem and No Cracks,.Loved watching Clare a and Nick😘
Well done Nick [to say the least] such a lot of hard work. Can't wait to see Clare's choice of colours for next bedroom, they're always impressive. I literally laughed out loud at the 'sediment/Nick quip' at the end of the vid.
Kudos for your perseverance...if that's the worst, it really isn't too bad. And your ingenuity speaks volume's - great problem solving Nick. Mad skills!!!
Its the repetitive dare I say boring bits that make a reno look spectacular at the finish. I redid an 1883 house in NZ and ended up with RSI in wrists as I was determined that every architrave, window and skirting would be scrapped and sanded to a pristine finish😂
What a pain having to redo the ceiling but at least you have worked out the way to go forward with other rooms which will save you time in the long run.
Wow Nick, persistence is commendable! Those were gruesome jobs to get done, but it looks good and the expanding foam idea is something I've never heard of before you introduced us to it - hope it lasts! Clare, the final cleanup is likely your job :( but you'll do a fabulous job of it :)
Oh my gosh Nick, your back, arms and neck must be so sore after all that overhead work! Well done, definitely worth doing it right the first time. I hope it’s now problem solved 😊
What a pain! But well done for just getting on with it to a great result. And happy to see your shoulder appears to be holding up well! Have a god week Butchers!
Been traveling so now doing catch up. As I thought, the kitchen turned out REALLY nice. Great job Nick. Looking forward to the Blue Room reveal. Stay war, guys! A bientot.
I really felt sorry for you ,having to repeat the ceiling ,,But a gd job worth doing ,You wouldn'nt have been happy if you left it ,Never dull moment ,with you Nick ,
Well done, Nick! So smooth! I have been working on three ceilings here and the dust is intense because I have had to remud them entirely. I hurt my neck looking upward with the sander. I don't know if I will ever finish mine. I am so envious!
Have you checked to make sure your drone flying is allowed where you are ? I just watched another channel explain no fly zones , privacy laws and $45 K fines if your caught filming with a drone in France.
Hi Machelle. We are on the cusp of a red zone so thankfully anything we take is within the law. Also the drone is registered. I found this out a few years ago. It’s funny as recently I also alerted a chateau channel owner to this issue (as I was nosey and checked there zone - it was red) only to be met with… Ok thanks for the heads up but I don’t have a drone. A lot of videographers etc use them for the weddings but I’m assuming it’s up to them Let’s hope as I simply adore a drone shot !

Beautiful Kitchen.. You must be so happy to have room to cook.
Hats off to the two of you. At this point I would wallpaper the ceiling 😊

I see that Nick takes the term "get cracking" literally! 😊
Ceilings are awful to do. Never mind twice. Glad it's done though!
Hi Clare and Nick just found you that was hard work Nick but well done, need to go and find your beginning now and binge watch x x
Welcome aboard!

I feel your pain....heart breaking to do it all again!
Cheers!
Nick, what determination‼️ You have done a fabulous job.
Enjoy that wine Nick you worked hard on them ceilings.
Oh well done Nick! What a job and saving claire’s sanity 😊
Ceilings, my god you’re a hard worker Nick, well done ❤
What a big job those ceilings
it's so disheartening for you having to do the cracks again ,you got there well done
Great job Nick your the best
you might want to try using plastic bumper filler in place of the plaster in the cracks as it is designed to flex and not crack
If at first you don't succeed try try again! Well Done!
Auto-pilot! Well Done!
Could it be the changing extreme temperature. Very hot to very cold? Some way to even it out? Don't know.😕good job🤗 how is her tooth?😕 💗💖🇺🇸🤗
Your arms must be acing Nick. Great to see the curtains open again. 😊
Oh bugger 😮😢xxxxx

Great job Nick the ceilings look great for the second time and last !! 🤞cheers to you both 🥂🥂❤❤🥰👏👏👏🇨🇦🐾

I've loved watching Nick full his cracks 😂😂😂.... Looks superb by the way ❤xx
Lets hope it doesn't crack again. Claire - you look great - whatever you are doing, keep doing it.
Well done Nick 👏🏻🥂❤️
is it the cold thats not making the filler work so well?
So sorry you had to re-do the ceiling. ugh. So sorry. p.s. Do you really have iris blooming already?
You poor bugger Nick but least ceiling will last. You are very good see you guys next week❤
The kitchen Looks awesome nick! Great to see the progress! I struggle to understand why your subscriber volume is not greater😕
What if you glued a very light fabric to the cieling , smoothed it and painted it?
Congrats on the furniture bargains! Remind Nick to wear mask when sanding. Do you still work part time at restaurant , Claire?
Hey ya’ll….the blue room was such an elegant room, until that hideous wallpaper scene was added. Now it’s ruined and looks so tacky.
The Chinese just fill in all cracks with gold paint and call it good!
Excuse me - my mistake - Japanese - kintsugi
Poor Nick, all that hard work ruined. Fingers crossed, this will be the final fix before you crack.
If the ceiling was painted dark blue you could put LED lights in the holes and you would have consolations 😅
Did your wet wiping of the dust on walls from the newly corrected ceiling leave streaks by any chance???
