The first time I ever saw Tyra Banks was in George Michaels video Too Funky and I was INSTANTLY mesmerized 😍

He was fighting with his record label at the time after the pop stardom from his first solo album, “Faith” so he opted not to appear in the video. Hjd artistic freedom is also symbolized by the burning of the jacket seen in thd “Faith” music video that made him a pop/teen idol on MTV hence thr lyric

He was gay. A lot of ppl didn't know and associated this song as his "I'm gay" song. But it's really supposed to be freedom from his record label, I believe.
It's so awesome that you not knowing anything about the artist and what he struggled with, totally got the message of the song half way through. This was sort of an anthem for all those in the spotlight. George was not in the video at all, they were all super models of the day. It was George's coming out video, at a time when coming out was a career crusher. I won't let you down, so please don't give me up, meaning, don't let me coming out change how you feel about my music, but I can't pretend to be someone I'm not any longer. All the things that blew up and burnt were symbols of the image created for him, the leather jacket, jukebox and guitar were from his first hit song "Faith".

These models were the original supermodels, the absolute pinnacle of fashion and class in the 90s (Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Tatjana Patitz). They don't really make women like these anymore. George Michael doesnt appear in the video, in his place are John Pearson (some say that he is the first super male model in history) and the fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti, both impersonating the role of Micheal.
God Bless George Michael ❤ yeah many have said this before.... but these were a few of the select most beautiful women in the world.. just a few , there were many more considered the first "super models" ( a world with natural beauty, without IG , filters and fillers) i miss the 90s. Such a pure time. We were doing so well, socially ....culturally....we were so good. We live in a time now where they say you can't express yourself, but im telling you....

Life With Quay No, it was a male model. He intentionally made sure he himself was not in this video, using models instead.
So much of this song seems to be him breaking free of everyone else’s image and expectation of him (including record labels). The burning jacket, exploding jukebox and guitar also relate to this.

You got Quay. They (record company and MTV) created his image and he wanted to be himself. He was gay in the era of AIDS and felt he couldn’t come out. It got to where he would not appear in his own videos because he couldn’t deal with it.
