      Thanks so much for the comment! It was a great trip despite the rough drive up the canyon. We really enjoyed it and will be back. You should have seen Dang jump when that first Jet flew over - it took a while to realize it was a jet - not what you expect in the forrest like that! Thanks again!

      I live up here and it makes the residents very upset we have groups who go out and clean call keepers of the kern outside of that the county and camp grounds doesn't seem to do much to help and visitors just keep making it their trash can, not to mention the horrible graffiti 😢

    • @thomashansen3932
      @thomashansen3932 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They no longer allow dispersed camping along the river. Trash being one of the reason.
      Covid campers were some of the worst. The kern is being loved to death. And I'm willing to fight to protect that amazing natural resource.

    Hello to you both. Hope you are both doing well..
    It was great to see you back on the road. Thank you for sharing your trip to the Kern River and Lake Isabella. The water levels were so nice to see so full. Me and my husband and I would go to the kern River in March. It was cold and beautiful. We would stay at a beautiful campground , with partial hookups, looking out our back window with the river flowing. My husband loved the jets flying over. The video you did on the waterfall was great, itwas si pretty, thank you Dang you did a fantastic job videoing it. Thank you, something we could never see without you. Plus, your audio is always the best with such get information. We would drive through the 14 to 395 going and then turn left. Little easier drive with our trailer. Thank you both again. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and see you next time.
    God Bless you and your family.

    I go up to Lake Isabella quite often. But I go up through Walker Pass. I can't believe you pulled a trailer through the Kern River Canyon. That is one scary road. Did you know that the original site of the town of Kerville was located about 7 miles downstream to the East? The new damn forced them to move to the current location in the 1950s. When the water is low you can visit the old site and see all of the old foundations. Also, old Kernville was a popular site for making old movies. Many old-time movie stars frequented the area for the purpose of making Western movies. The area is now under 20 feet of water because of the extremely wet winter. It will be high and dry again by the end of next summer.

    • @bobanddangsjourney
      @bobanddangsjourney  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the helpful comment - that is some great information! I did hear that the town had been relocated during the Dam construction, but I didn't know the details (now I do ! ). Yeah the drive up the canyon wasn't great but given we were coming from the west it seemed to make sense. We have done some pretty tight roads in the past and this definitely ranked up there with the worst of them (driving down the 89 from Prescott was memorable too) . This is a great area and we will try to get back at least once a year. Thanks again for watching and also for the very informative comment - we really appreciate that! Save travels :)

      @bobanddangsjourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes its a pretty place, the boondocking spots we covered later in the video look pretty good, when we go back we will probably stay at one of those. I think you might able to boondock off of some of the roads leading off Sherman pass road - we saw a very nice spot up near where we got the flower shots - would not fit for us but should be perfect for a van. Would need to check out whether its okay, but we did see evidence that others had used it for that purpose. Safe travels and hope to see you out there on the road one of these days!

    We were in the area this year also for the first time. The water flow was incredible. We stayed at Redwood Meadow Campground (Sequoia National Forest) across the road from Trail of 100 Giants. The campground has size limitations, so check before visiting.The trail wanders through a beautiful giant sequoia grove which is part of the Sequoia National Monument. the trail is a shaded, easy walk through the grove. (The Giant Sequoia National Monument trail is located about 45 miles northwest of the Gateway, Kernville, in the Kern River Valley on the Hot Springs Ranger District. From Kernville, take State Mtn. 99 north to Johnsondale. Continue west on Mtn. 50 to the Western Divide Hwy. turn-off. Go two miles to the Redwood Meadow Campground. The trail is located across the road from the campground. Travel time from Kernville is about 1½ hours.) We also had to reroute on our way back to So CA when we hit the closed road.

    Magificent video that I haven't even gotten to watch entirely so far. It's a beautiful area with a lot to offer. The problem is that it doesn't attract the best crowds. Many people come in large groups and blast loud music all night long, invade campsites and leave loads of trash. The Fairview campground is rough for people with tents due to all these large rocks that are embedded in the ground. So Limestone is better for tents, but the crowds there (especially on weekends) are something else. No camp host either.
