It’s Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina. Stone Mountain, Georgia is cool for being so close to Atlanta but it doesn’t feel like being out in nature very much to me. This is worth a visit to NC.
I grew up very close to Stone Mountain, I live 1.5 hrs away now, but did 10 hikes there this year, I did the loop trail 2 times in one day, takes me about 2 hrs each time. love that place. I recommend going up the stairs side of the loop trail if your up for it, it's a great workout. Remember, no stopping. ha
The steps by the waterfall is the easy way :-P The best way to hike it is from the lower lot... straight up the mountain, down the steps to the waterfall, and then turn around and go back the way you came. Leg burner. Your name sounds familiar... were you into pumping iron back in the day; late 80s early 90s?
Sutherland Outdoors thank you. I struggled more with the stairs at South, but I had a full pack with winter gear when I did that one. Yes. Very similar indeed. Hope you’re having a great weekend!
@@KeeFrHikes stairs on the front side of the loop trail is much harder than South Mountain, I think, I have a goal to not stop on that route, havent made it yet, only stopped once, it's hard
KeeFr Hikes agreed. Stone Mountain in Georgia is way packed. Will check this out soon! There is a ton of hiking videos / places to explore on my channel that might interest you. Would love to hear your feedback. Cheers!
@@MetroOnTheMove I've added your North Georgia trails video to my "watch later".... very interested in that region. Hope to watch this weekend.... subscribed with notifications. Take care.
Thanks for sharing.. What a cool place to visit.. Not sure I've been there before.. I'll have to remember to check it out when In in the area.. Watching and Supporting with Full View Like 14
That place has become one of my favorites since I first visited it six years ago. I was last there on labor day with my grandson and he absolutely loved it. Thanks for sharing!
There are 4 backpacking sites on the north side of the mountain, look up a map and these sites will be on the Widow Creek Trail. They’re pay by the night and no reservation system.
A 30 minute pace would put you at two and a half hours. Add in how much ever time you need to take in the views. Carve 3 hours out for the hike and you should be good.
I LOVE Stone Mountain, I've hiked it with my cousin Eddie who lives up there. Man, this was some excellent quality filming and editing. So beautiful. I'm envious of the work you produce. :-) It really is great.
The Hiking Songstress - Sarah Chappell thank you so much for the kind words. For the record, your work is awesome! I always enjoy your posts. Curious about the Eddie... I know a few Eddies up this way.
@@KeeFrHikes Eddie Barns:-) Lives in Wilkes County. And thank you for the compliment as well! I finally edited a video that I'm truly proud of today but have not posted it yet. It's taking awhile for me to feel comfortable with the vlogging/editing. I'm so not tech savvy it seems to take forever! LOL
In my daypack I carry the basics... first aid, water, snacks, and headlamp. For backpacking the same but add tent, sleeping pad, quilt, knife, bear canister or bear bag (depending on where I'm backpacking), and an MSR stove.
Teresa hikes I get my fastest times when I go the direction you went but starting at the lower parking lot. That way I’m able to knock out the ascent first thing and enjoy the flats and downs the remainder of the hike.
What a beautiful trail. I can see why you do that one often. So pretty at this time of year. What camera did you use cause it really did bring those glorious colours out. 👣
Thank you! I hiked it again yesterday late afternoon and it had changed considerably. Still come color; but a lot more leaves on the ground after the storms. I was using a Sony A6400 for this. It was the first video I uploaded from which I've exclusively used that camera and my first time playing with a new gimbal. I love the camera so far!
KeeFr Hikes that’s great. It’s amazing how much and quickly a trail can change as a season changes. Everything here is starting to dry out as we head for summer. Having a gimbal on your camera is a real game changer. Well done 👍🏽
I have been a few times living in Hiddenite. Rocky Face is cool as well.
Indeed - amazing geology at Rocky Face.
nice hiking friend
Thank you ✌🏻
Great trail. Nicely done and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
This is Ga Stone Mountain , correct ? If so ima going on the trail. Those are some incredible views

Awesome as always.

Just to be sure I heard it correctly, this is Stone Mt North Carolina and not stone mt GA?
Correct, NC.
Beautiful place! The homestead, the falls, everything but the stairs. They reminded me a bit of the stairs at South Mountains State Park.
Sutherland Outdoors thank you. I struggled more with the stairs at South, but I had a full pack with winter gear when I did that one. Yes. Very similar indeed. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Been to Stone Mountain in GA but not in NC. Thanks for sharing!
Come check it out sometime. It's more natural and quiet for sure, but Stone Mtn GA is great too... just a different experience.

Amazing video 👍 thanks for sharing it. That's a big old rattlesnake!!!!
Thank you. Loved seeing that rattler on the Stone Mountain Trail. Hope to see another one before the summer ends (from a safe distance that is) 😜
Well done!

Awesome, I was there on Labor Day as well. We may have even crossed paths and didn't realize it.
@@KeeFrHikes very possible.
You captured it wonderfully! Fantastic gem to have so close to home.
Thank you, Jonathan. I love hitting it after work, but this time change may mess with those plans a bit now.
That is a good trail. I am always sore the next day from the steps.
Those steps are a beast. 335 if I counted correctly Friday.
how long does it take to walk that trail? couple hours?
At a 2.5 mile pace you’ll finish the loop in 2’ish hours. Allow at least 30 extra minutes to enjoy the views.
One question do thet allow backpack at stone mountain
There are 4 backpacking sites on the north side of the mountain, look up a map and these sites will be on the Widow Creek Trail. They’re pay by the night and no reservation system.
Another great vid! Got to get there.
Thanks, Mike. If you go hit me up and I'll tell you about some other trails to hit while you're up this way.

Better Together Travel Stories have fun! Actually heading back to do this trail again right now.
Do this hike several times a year, camp there often.

The Hiking Songstress - Sarah Chappell not one of the Eddies I know 👍🏻 Post it, feel comfortable and roll it out. I look forward to seeing it.
A beautiful trail and great video! When you showed the falls the text captions marked it as [applause] which was fitting.
Thanks man. I’ve never noticed text captions... did that show up on mobile or a television device? Hope you’ve had a great weekend.

Looking to getting into hiking what do you normally carry in your backpack?

is the direction you went easier? lol i went the other direction and going up that one side was tough. it looks great in fall. thanks for sharing
