This isn't the strongest episode, but it does have Seth Green (Oz). Their band, Dingoes Ate My Baby is based on a real-life case in Australia where a dingo allegedly killed a missing baby and ate it. The parents were actually charged with murder because the courts didn't believe them. But it was true. Also a quote from Elaine on Seinfeld.
This is the first episode where it’s very hard for me to get over the death of Empata, the young exchange student. I think about his parents. They send their son, their pride and joy, off on this “safe” adventure, and they get news that his bus arrived in Sunnydale, but some girl killed him and impersonated him? Or worse, he just disappeared in the bus depot?! Imagine that is your child, how would you feel? I think about the parent (teacher?) that Spike breaks the neck of in 2-3 (School Hard). And others in the future, including one of the biggest TV stars in the world today.
Oz definitely the coolest of characters. Nobody does laid back like Oz, his witty one liners and observations are brilliant. When he says 'you're only interested in a girl who can walk or talk' reply 'she doesn't have to talk', the look on Oz's face. Inca Mummy Girl I thought was one of the weaker episodes of S2, Xander showing his complete innocence and gullibility. We all feel for Willow who at this stage in the show is so meek and quiet, always feeling looked over. We all seem to forget what an awful bully and generally horrible vacuous person Cordelia was, totally putting down Willow at every opportunity throughout the early parts of the show, we see that again here. The show saying basically looks aren't everything, and be careful as things are never what they seem. Jonathan gets a lucky escape here along with Xander also. Xander comes through at the end and saves Willow's life. We see again here with Xander's unfortunate 'taste in women'.
Willow has never expressed it, though. Not to Xander, at least. And Xander LOVES Willow. He threatened to kill Buffy over her without a second thought or fear. Willow is still his best friend, and Xander's shown time and time again that he loves her. He's very protective of her, too. He's just not really romantic interest, which is fair. And again, Willow hasn't exactly told Xander about her feelings...
True, Xander is not obligated to have romantic feelings for her either just because she has those feelings for him. But some like to villainize Xander for not wanting a relationship or having romantic feelings for Willow but would never do the same to Buffy for not having romantic feelings for Xander she gets a choice he does not or he's bad.
@ lol thanks dad. I do know that on a good day, but I’m tired and had some edibles lol. I was actually trying to think of the actors name instead but didn’t want to google it
I believe you want to stick to the Hulu version, as I think Disney plus has the remastered version. If you’re just now hearing this, the he version messes with the lighting and framing to a significant degree. Tubi might also have the OG version. Also, I think Xander is a better person than Giles. Giles has a holier than thou tude about him, very judgmental toward Buffy and Xander. His character is welcome in the show as it gives another level of depth to the Scooby gang but still…
Love the parallels between buffy and ampata. Plus Oz has entered the chat!

Everyone should have someone who loves them as much as he loves those plastic containers
Xander is kind of a dick for many reasons throughout the series, but not falling in love with Willow isn't one of them

The way Oz stared at Willow....aww 🥰
Oz is one of my favorite characters.
Jer if you're a Seth Green fan you have to watch Without A Paddle!
Super convenient that of all the exchange houses she could have gone to, she went to Buffy's
Super easy, barely an inconvenience!
I absolutely love Oz. One of my favorite characters.
My first introduction to Seth Green was the second Scooby Doo movie

CANT HARDLY WAIT.... Great film. Thats what I know Seth from most lol

YES. As Someone who adores willow and doesn’t really vibe with early seasons Xander often, I 100% agree with you.
I can think of scenes later when Zander looks/acts even more like Jim Carrey 👌
It’s Xander. Because his name is AleXander.

Poor real Empata.
Yay, Oz!

Sadly Xander is a self insert for Joss.
Aw, man, you ruined the punchline of "she doesn't have to talk" by pausing right after Oz finished talking.
The way this show used editing to deliver humour is chefs kiss
