Screw the stereotypical corporate looking men that teach people about money and investment. I don't need you in a suit to see that you are a smart individual who is spreading knowledge across a plethora of topics. Not just photography. You are hands down my favorite youtube and I'm glad I discovered you.

@gaju nice hypocritical to dismiss these men because of their outfit(which is just the normal work outfit in many fields) when they are saying pretty much all the same points Sorelle but usually going way deeper than just "be smart with your money and learn". I think it is a good motivational video about money management but I suggest to buy some books(written probably by men in suits) to follow up.

Would LOVE LOVE LOVE more videos like this. I think the best tips were not to confuse needs with desires, not to spend more money just because you're making more money, and not to buy things you can't afford. I'm guilty of all three of these, unfortunately. What I would LOVE to see--and maybe you won't want to do this because it IS quite personal, but maybe you won't mind, idk what your boundaries are--is a breakdown of how YOU make money. Like, how much of your income comes from anything out of ad revenue, sponsorships, your presets and advanced selfie university, any products that you sell, etc. Like for you personally, where does it all come from and HOW did you learn to make money in that way? What led up to it? And what can we do to follow a similar path? What are the skills that YOU have that directly contribute to you being able to have this lifestyle?

I loooooved the part that said "Luck is hard work meets opportunity", it's soooooo true!
I like a quote from an IG account i follow about astrology that goes:
"Dreams are not fulfilled, Dreams are worked on".
I agree that maybe 20% of things are opportunity, timing, choices, but the other 80% is all hard work, it is so important for people to recognize that things don't just happen and a certain kind of lifestyle is not a magical blessing, it is the result of what we put out there and our work.
Looving your videos, you're such a HUGE inspiration! Thanks for doing what you do and not being afraid to show us it's ok to live by your own rules. Love! ♥️

Videos like these help me on a whole different level than expected: it shifts my perspective on coming back to the small town and living simply in a small flat. Of course I cherished my home before and rationally I knew how much money I safe, but now I *celebrate* these decisions even more and I feel more at ease - because in coming back there lies even greater freedom. Wow. Thank you!

This video was super helpful. My wife and I are currently in the process of trying to simplify our life and pursue our passions and this video was very insightful. I grew up in a family that didn’t talk about money and I was thrown into the money making world with my first job. No experience or instruction obviously lead to failure. Now as I get older I’m taking better hold of my finances and man is it a daunting task! But what stood out to me from your video was the “you have to pay yourself” aspect. I think it does a lot for your future but also your mentality. Knowing your setting aside money for you makes the work and hustle worth it. Otherwise it gets blown on crap you don’t need or bills that you have to pay and you feel hollow. So I will definitely be incorporating that into my life and I look forward to the positive results financially but also mentally. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work! ✌️

I really like the "pay yourself first" tip. Recently I've become much more serious about saving, and I've been so amazed at how fast the money can build up when I prioritise saving. I enjoy your alternative approach to life: no typical 9-5 job, no house, no mortgage. The way you live challenges a lot of societal norms, and as someone who has just finished uni and is dreading entering "adult life" (which is really a myth haha) I'm very encouraged to see someone who has figured out how to "hack the system".

i'm always thankful for your video's sorelle.
while growing up my parents had money problems and as a high sensitive kid i took over their painbody and became money anxious. as a little kid my biggest wish was to be happy and i related that to independance of money.
which in a sense is true, but it's not about the money itself.
i never pursued in photography because i was afraid of the 'insecure job future'.
after taking some time off from school etc to heal myself i lost that painbody and fear of the future. somehow money has always been flowing for me. i've worked damn hard in my life(since age 11), i've spend it wisely and now(at age 22) it's time for me to focus on my passions and create an income from that! photography, youtube and instagram🙏 i share about mental health, intuitive living and traveling. especially mental health awareness is important to me!

I’m an actress and the Hollywood struggle is hard so much to a point I feel like all I do it put in to business materials with no ROI and I’ve been getting fed up. Watching your videos has inspired me to again start writing/creating my own films but more importantly you really inspired me to put in the hard work to learning photography (stills and video). Before I was always so against learning new skills, I was like I need to just focus on acting blah blah. Well I’ve reached my breaking point; I want to create and tell stories and not continue to work in the food industry anymore. And the only way I’m gonna do that is to learn new skills that benefit me around as an actor and storyteller. So right now I’m working to save for a camera and laptop and in the meantime working on becoming a better writer. My goal is to be a bts videographer with my bf and then a photographer to earn money. And for myself I want to make travel videos with a fictional storytelling aspect 😏. So thank you for showing me I can do it all and still be an actress. The point at the end of the day is to tell stories. I’m so nervous and excited and scared! Haha

Great vid. I just hate when people say money is evil. I also hate when people dont clarify, when saying money isnt evil, that the LOVE of money is evil. Money driving you to succeed is great but when money become the utmost importance, say over your fellow mans well being then that is evil. When someone chooses a path for money knowing it hurts another human. That is sad and evil. Human trafficking, live organ harvesting, Harmakia etc.

My digital nomad business is partially based around teaching people about personal finance. I actually work with high schoolers and college students in my free time because it absolutely pisses me off that we don't take this stuff seriously.
Great presentation! Only thing I would argue is that learning investing comes much further down the line. Learning about retirement and index funds is actually pretty simple, and that's where that 10% (minimum, really you want like 20% at least) is going anyhow. Oh, and I would have loved if you touched on having an emergency fund on place so we can start changing the fact that the majority of people can't survive an unexpected charge or loss of income.
P.S. I'm not going back to that side of Bali either, haha.

You have made your finest video. You have given so many people real information. If I had had this information when I was younger I could have possibly been able to make a better life for myself. The one area I disagree with is the area
of opportunity. Someone once said, creativity is distributed equally, but opportunity is not. I have worked very hard my entire life, become well educated, learned what I could and worked however I needed to to be able to thrive. I tried my best to make a good plan, reach my goals, and go through the doors that would allow myself to thrive, but they all
seemed to slam shut with no other way to that point. So I would try a different approach, a different plan, a different
field, etc. So many slammed doors. So many periods of unemployment/underemployment. I barely survived and now
am disabled and can't do much work. I'm not trying to sound like a sad sack, but I just need to say some of us try as
hard as we can and it just doesn't work.

Hi Sorelle, first of all thank you for being so honest about how you got to where you are. This video was very helpful.

The best thing I’ve learnt from my parents was 1. Paying of debts ASAP and 2. Only buy things if you can buy the outright (unless it’s something like a house or car, but even then they have only bought cars outright) and if you absolutely can’t buy things outright that are a necessity then follow #1. I love these videos. I’m still living at home and attending university here in Canberra. I’m very very fortunate to have no expenses apart from parking at uni, and my phone bills. All of my money goes into savings and I avoid spending it at all costs. And my rule is that if I am buying a new shirt, pair of shoes or jeans then I HAVE TO sell or donate something from my closet (I think you’ve mentioned that before too). Good habits start young. This video was AWESOME!

This video was so encouraging! I’ve struggled financially for years and especially in the creative field it can be discouraging when you don’t have the gear you want. Definitely makes me feel better about where I’m at and where I’m going.

YES YES!! Love seeing your videos and I appreciate when creators like you are so honest to their audience, because it's important to understand that skills combined with passion will attract that money and you don't need to sacrifice your well-being by doing something you don't like doing it.. Passive income should definitely be taught in schools!!
Thanks for sharing your skills and thoughts!!!

Sorelle..very happy you did this vlog! you were right on...its sad that most people esp women do not study finance more seriously..they don't even talk about it and it needs to be out there! Having money IS freedom..it doesn't grow on trees..You have to learn about it and not be afraid of it..I learned on my own when i was in my thirties, studied the markets etc, lived a frugal life but still went on vacations and travelled the world. Retired early fifties. I do what I want now..Freedom! no cubicles! Keep making these vlogs..we are all one. Carry on sister!

This was confirmation for my journey! Literally everything you said in this video I’m in the pursuit of doing. I have been following your advice for probably about a year and this just concluded it all for me. I’m currently getting on my connecting flight to Bali and then Thailand later on. One of my main reasons why I choose these to countries for my first destination as a digital nomad was so that I can network with more digital nomads and learn this lifestyle. I’m definitely taking the spending formula away from this video! THANK YOU!

I really enjoyed this video. It's cool to see a different scene for each point you made. I like the idea of paying yourself 10 percent, 20 percent to debt, and living off 70. I also live a life where the day is very busy so there's no time to procrastinate.

Best thing about this vid? You're absolutely right. Worst thing about this vid? I SWEAR I had a shirt just like that, which I LOVED, and I literally cannot remember what happened to it, like it may yet be hiding in some drawer of shelf for me to find when I'm too fat to wear it. But yes, build wealth, it's not evil - it's only evil when you use it to keep others down.

I love these rules, although I didn't get why is it bad to earn more to spend more. If you make more, your new 10% income increase as well, so you keep saving even more than before, and also can spend more money, because 90% of the rest increased as well.
I also have the rule "always treat yourself first", which is a kind of "always pay yourself first", but this is % of income that you can spend on something you want/like, not necessarily need.
I've seen many families with mothers who worked so hard, and they were only buying clothes for kids, only buy new tech devices for kids, all the best is always for kids. It is surprisingly common for post-soviet countries' people. In my family, we had another rule: a person who earns money always gets something for themselves, otherwise they don't see a point of earning it and soon may slip into a depression, and then nobody's going to earn anything. Of course, it's not a situation "I'm gonna eat today because I am a breadwinner, and my kid is staying hungry", it's more of "maybe my kid doesn't need the new iPhone model asap if I still wear a coat with holes I've bought 7 years ago."
