Don't watch it in English, watch it in Spanish with English subtitles. What a great show. Marvellous acting by all. The ladies rock it on every frame, costumes were break taking, so beautifully well made. Their love, friendships and losses are so deep and touches us far across deep into our lives. Just finished season 1 today. Amazing show! I also like it that this show allows the audio translation in English as well as the option for subtitles. This does make it easier and you don't feel like you miss out on any important scenery. I'm not familiar with shows from Spain at all as of the fact that we rarely get them here State side. We have Hispanic tv channels here mainly from Mexico, by not Spain. The first Spanish show I got acquainted with I Velvet, just a month ago. I must say, I was blown away by the beautiful cinematography and filming of that show. Spain definitely delivers quality tel vision.
I've just watched the whole show and I absolutety love it! I love these chicas, they are so brave, smart, empathic and beautiful. Love Marga and Lidia of course. You are excellent. Thank you for that show but I am so sad that it ended so sadly. I really hoped that all girls would have a beautiful, long life with their loves finally. At least it is good that they belonged together to the last moment. Thatks to the directors that they've cut the final scene and we don't have to watch the girsl die. They are still alive in the hearts of their loved one. Beautiful show. Thank You very much.

I just finished watching Cable Girls today, such an amazing international show. The English audio really helped me. I can't wait to see the second half of the season. I would really recommend this show to others.

Same here.It was an accidental find(& also probably not😊)it's enthralling in many ways & also a mess & yet all the actors \characters have my attention season 1-3 I binged for 24hrs(yes I did😀☺😊😂) I even looked some of the actors up \found similar shows or I found that some of the actors have also acted in movies together like Yon Gonzalez (Francisco)& Lidia (Blanca Suarez)I enjoyed the series alot & can't wait for season 4🙌😀

I agree. My sister introduced me to the show a month ago. I have already watched all the seasons and episodes. They had about 5 or 6 per season and they're about 30 minutes long. It goes quickly and easy to watch an entire season in a few hours. The last season was released 3rd July, 2020, and I watched it all in two nights. I doubt there will be more seasons...I believe they wrapped it up with the last episode.

Also, as a lot of people are commenting, the translation has quite a few things wrong. What's the point of interviewing people if then it gets lost in translation? It's a shame that english is a failed subject in Spain and they can't do the inerview directly in english. And also a shame that you didn't get a good translator.

I am also spanish and have a C2 english level. I meant failed subject in general. If you ask for directions in the street almost no one speaks english. If you buy something in a store, they don't speak english. Not even our politicians speak english.
elimetri89 I agree but also disagree, I’m Spanish and I have a C1 level and love English language and culture as I’m studying English Philology but I really hate that we have to learn their language when we go to other countries while Spanish is the second language most spoken in the world, I think tourists should learn at least a little of Spanish although also people at stores should learn some basic things in English to assist customers

Honestly, if this series was in Mexican Spanish, Cuban Spanish, Argentinian Spanish or any of the other dialects of Castilian spoken in Iberian America, I would not watch it. Thank God, it is in correct, gorgeous, regal, and majestic Spanish. This is Castilian in all its splendor and it sounds so classy. It fits the city of Madrid, the elegance of the time and of the costumes and of the scenery. IT is wonderful, just like the movie Velvet. Thank God for the th sound in both English and Spanish, because without the th sound both English and Spanish sound goofy. Just think of how goofy inspector Cruiseau is when he speaks his English, which is th- less. He sounds like Donald Duck at times because too many s sounds are pronounced one after another in the same sentence. Furthermore, the s of the iberian Americans tend to be thinner and more like a hiss, whereas the Spanish s is a bit fuller and this sounds wonderful.....This Spanish is as neutral as it gets, no singing, no whining, no lisping (there is no lisp because the Spanish can pronounce s and do so), no speaking though the nose, no dropping important consonants like s sounds (arguably lisping), no pronouncing v like b......all of this makes Iberian American Spanish dialects overemotional sounding, sloppy sounding, and goofy. The answer to what this Spanish series does to Netflix is it shows how beautiful and regal and refined standard Castilian is as Americans are used to Mexican Spanish from indigenous people who whine and speak through the nose (think of the Chich and Chong sound), or Cubans and Puerto Ricans who arguably lisp (have trouble pronouncing s sounds) and Argentinians who sing arpeggios and also arguably lisp. It SOUNDS SO GOOD and business like !!!. Other wonderful Spanish series are El Barco, El Ministerio del Tiempo, Isabel, Carlos Rey Emperador, Velvet and El Internado. I did not say this to be mean, but Standard Castilian, which is what this is, is so much prettier, so much prettier than any of its dialects spoken in Iberian America and it is one of the reasons that I only watch the Spanish movies. I tried to watch Simon Bolivar, which is from Iberian America the other day because I love history and I also know that the Iberian Americans can make great movies as well, but the Spanish spoken sounded so bad to me that I stopped immediately. It was making me suffer and I could not watch the show, although I really wanted to watch it because I love history. I wish the Spanish would create Standard Spanish or Standard Castilian voice overs for what comes from Iberian America, because I know that Iberian Americans can make great movies as well, I just think they sound goofy some of the time (when they are having Donald Duck moments) and not elegant the rest of the time. I want to watch their movies, but I want the beautiful, elegant, regal sound that comes from Spain. I have been known to watch Spanish movies that were not so good, just so I could hear this type of fancy Spanish. The movies that I mentioned above are both amazing and have that special, select sound.

La verdad que comparas entrevistas de actores/actrices en otros países y ves de que han carecido ellas en esta entrevista. Cuando pueden mostrar no sólo criterio sino también cultura y clase en sus respuestas, aquí muestran todo lo contrario. Y el hecho de que afirmen que la serie bien podría transcurrir en cualquier otro país o ciudad del mundo, demuestra el poco apego e interés por la historia de la serie. Podrían haber hablado al menos del trasfondo de la serie que trata de un grupo de mujeres jóvenes solteras que prosperan en una España machista y conservadora. El entrevistador no les ha sacado más de una frase por respuesta. Así son la mayoría en este país, protagonizo esta serie porque la produce Netflix así llego a un público más amplio, esto me abre más puertas a Hollywood y porque además ganaré seguidores en redes sociales. Postureo y vergüenza ajena que nos deja a nosotros como espectadores y seguidores. O al menos esa es la impresión que me deja esta entrevista. Espero equivocarme...

Mi favorito es Blancz Suarez y estaría con ella. quiero ponerme en contacto. Amo a España y creo que Blanca es muy hermosa. También fue muy buena en El bar y creo que Blanca es una muy buena actriz y hermosa.
Ya la vi completa y me encanto , no es una seria feminista. Son 4 mujeres super diferentes en todo sentido, cada una con sus valores, miedos y dificultades y que están luchando por un sueño que en esa época parecía imposible. Además me gusta mucho como visten, la escenografía, lo único que no me gusta es la música que ponen en las diversas fiestas que asisten como que no es de la época, pero quizás eso la hace diferente.

+esther tristan, como bien ha explicado +aral star, el feminismo va de visibilizar los privilegios que tienen los hombres frente a las mujeres y promover que eso cambie, favoreciendo la libertad de decisión y actuación entre las féminas, tal y como los varones han podido gozar de esos derechos a lo largo de la historia. La serie reflexiona sobre este hecho, y expone ese deseo de cambio de los personajes, al igual que esa necesidad y esa búsqueda desde el minuto uno, con la voz en off de la protagonista. Es más, lo convierte en el "leitmotiv" de todo lo que va sucediendo en la historia. Otra cosa es que, además de este tema, la trama ponga sobre la mesa otras muchas cuestiones e intrigas, pero siempre siendo las relaciones terpersonales, contextualizadas en la realidad en la que se encuentran, el centro de lo que ocurre. Coincido contigo plenamente en lo de la música, con todos los detalles tan cuidados, parece que hubiera encajado mejor otra BSO! :)

listen I'm cuban mixed with puerto rican and I don't understand Spanish but when I finished watching all episodes of that show { FOR YOUR INFORMATION I PUT THE LAUNGUAG TO ENGLISH} it was so good that I literally looked to see when was season 3 was coming out because it has a lot of drama in it that it made cook some food and and get my tea to stay up all the way to the sun rised to finish all of the episodes because it was so interesting and good for example it shows u what women had to go through back then how they was treated like trash and in the show it even says that a horse cost more than a women but I am not finished their love interest what that what it was getting hot up in this bitch like omg
Creo que el intento de hacer esta serie internacional fue lo que más la perjudicó. La elección musical fue la lamentable (el exceso de pop moderno en inglés, lo peor) y el contexto histórico estuvo muy desaprovechado... Y realmente no había necesidad, porque nos gustan las series españolas envueltas en su realidad precisamente porque nos reflejan esa otra cultura. Considero que si la segunda temporada abandona la tendencia a ser tan occidentales y abraza más su esencia española, será una bomba. En verdad, desde lo local se aborda perfectamente lo global... Sobre todo con temas tan esparcidos como el feminismo.

i always have the subtitles and audio on in English. It's so strange to realize that they don't speak english. It's so strange to be on episode 8 of season 2 and to only minutes later see a video where they're speaking Spanish. It's such a transition for my mind.
I LOVE it so much more in Spanish. Granted I know Spanish, but I’ve only recently started watching shows in Spanish. But I keep English subtitles on w the original audio. And it makes it so much better! But that way I don’t get lost lol just in case.

I am also spanish and have a C2 english level. I meant failed subject in general. If you ask for directions in the street almost no one speaks english. If you buy something in a store, they don't speak english. Not even our politicians speak english.
elimetri89 I agree but also disagree, I’m Spanish and I have a C1 level and love English language and culture as I’m studying English Philology but I really hate that we have to learn their language when we go to other countries while Spanish is the second language most spoken in the world, I think tourists should learn at least a little of Spanish although also people at stores should learn some basic things in English to assist customers

Honestly, if this series was in Mexican Spanish, Cuban Spanish, Argentinian Spanish or any of the other dialects of Castilian spoken in Iberian America, I would not watch it. Thank God, it is in correct, gorgeous, regal, and majestic Spanish. This is Castilian in all its splendor and it sounds so classy. It fits the city of Madrid, the elegance of the time and of the costumes and of the scenery. IT is wonderful, just like the movie Velvet. Thank God for the th sound in both English and Spanish, because without the th sound both English and Spanish sound goofy. Just think of how goofy inspector Cruiseau is when he speaks his English, which is th- less. He sounds like Donald Duck at times because too many s sounds are pronounced one after another in the same sentence. Furthermore, the s of the iberian Americans tend to be thinner and more like a hiss, whereas the Spanish s is a bit fuller and this sounds wonderful.....This Spanish is as neutral as it gets, no singing, no whining, no lisping (there is no lisp because the Spanish can pronounce s and do so), no speaking though the nose, no dropping important consonants like s sounds (arguably lisping), no pronouncing v like b......all of this makes Iberian American Spanish dialects overemotional sounding, sloppy sounding, and goofy. The answer to what this Spanish series does to Netflix is it shows how beautiful and regal and refined standard Castilian is as Americans are used to Mexican Spanish from indigenous people who whine and speak through the nose (think of the Chich and Chong sound), or Cubans and Puerto Ricans who arguably lisp (have trouble pronouncing s sounds) and Argentinians who sing arpeggios and also arguably lisp. It SOUNDS SO GOOD and business like !!!. Other wonderful Spanish series are El Barco, El Ministerio del Tiempo, Isabel, Carlos Rey Emperador, Velvet and El Internado. I did not say this to be mean, but Standard Castilian, which is what this is, is so much prettier, so much prettier than any of its dialects spoken in Iberian America and it is one of the reasons that I only watch the Spanish movies. I tried to watch Simon Bolivar, which is from Iberian America the other day because I love history and I also know that the Iberian Americans can make great movies as well, but the Spanish spoken sounded so bad to me that I stopped immediately. It was making me suffer and I could not watch the show, although I really wanted to watch it because I love history. I wish the Spanish would create Standard Spanish or Standard Castilian voice overs for what comes from Iberian America, because I know that Iberian Americans can make great movies as well, I just think they sound goofy some of the time (when they are having Donald Duck moments) and not elegant the rest of the time. I want to watch their movies, but I want the beautiful, elegant, regal sound that comes from Spain. I have been known to watch Spanish movies that were not so good, just so I could hear this type of fancy Spanish. The movies that I mentioned above are both amazing and have that special, select sound.

La verdad que comparas entrevistas de actores/actrices en otros países y ves de que han carecido ellas en esta entrevista. Cuando pueden mostrar no sólo criterio sino también cultura y clase en sus respuestas, aquí muestran todo lo contrario. Y el hecho de que afirmen que la serie bien podría transcurrir en cualquier otro país o ciudad del mundo, demuestra el poco apego e interés por la historia de la serie. Podrían haber hablado al menos del trasfondo de la serie que trata de un grupo de mujeres jóvenes solteras que prosperan en una España machista y conservadora. El entrevistador no les ha sacado más de una frase por respuesta. Así son la mayoría en este país, protagonizo esta serie porque la produce Netflix así llego a un público más amplio, esto me abre más puertas a Hollywood y porque además ganaré seguidores en redes sociales. Postureo y vergüenza ajena que nos deja a nosotros como espectadores y seguidores. O al menos esa es la impresión que me deja esta entrevista. Espero equivocarme...
Sí, la verdad es que me apetecía ver las serie y se me están quitando las ganas por la pésima promoción que están haciendo. Primero diciendo que la entrevista de Pablo Motos no fue machista y que la serie no tiene nada que ver con el feminismo, cuando precisamente va de un grupo de mujeres que buscan ser independientes en una época conservadora, y ahora renegando de España como si fuera un poblacho que no le interesa a nadie. Ya la vi completa y me encanto , no es una seria feminista. Son 4 mujeres super diferentes en todo sentido, cada una con sus valores, miedos y dificultades y que están luchando por un sueño que en esa época parecía imposible. Además me gusta mucho como visten, la escenografía, lo único que no me gusta es la música que ponen en las diversas fiestas que asisten como que no es de la época, pero quizás eso la hace diferente.

Sólo coincido en la música, no encaja con el año en el que está basada la serie porque por lo de feminista, es claramente una serie feminista, la lucha de las mujeres por tener derechos y no tener que depender de un hombre siempre entre otras cosas.

listen I'm cuban mixed with puerto rican and I don't understand Spanish but when I finished watching all episodes of that show { FOR YOUR INFORMATION I PUT THE LAUNGUAG TO ENGLISH} it was so good that I literally looked to see when was season 3 was coming out because it has a lot of drama in it that it made cook some food and and get my tea to stay up all the way to the sun rised to finish all of the episodes because it was so interesting and good for example it shows u what women had to go through back then how they was treated like trash and in the show it even says that a horse cost more than a women but I am not finished their love interest what that what it was getting hot up in this bitch like omg

Creo que el intento de hacer esta serie internacional fue lo que más la perjudicó. La elección musical fue la lamentable (el exceso de pop moderno en inglés, lo peor) y el contexto histórico estuvo muy desaprovechado... Y realmente no había necesidad, porque nos gustan las series españolas envueltas en su realidad precisamente porque nos reflejan esa otra cultura.
Considero que si la segunda temporada abandona la tendencia a ser tan occidentales y abraza más su esencia española, será una bomba. En verdad, desde lo local se aborda perfectamente lo global... Sobre todo con temas tan esparcidos como el feminismo.

i always have the subtitles and audio on in English. It's so strange to realize that they don't speak english. It's so strange to be on episode 8 of season 2 and to only minutes later see a video where they're speaking Spanish. It's such a transition for my mind.
