    In hindsight, it was perfectly acceptable to scream in terror when asked where you see yourself in 5 years on 2017.

    Fun Fact: that monster eating the sword is supposed to represent Communism in Korea and by the end of the film he basically turns evil and is just as bad as the force he defeated. It's believed it was the kidnapped directors basically flipping off their kidnappers, kudos to them

      Juliani was at the twin towers on 9-11 and he was told to move out of the way before they demolished the buildings and yes the buildings were pulled as soon as he was out of the way. Juliani was also the one mayor that could not allow demolishing the twin towers after numerous lobby to ignore the asbestos but he didn't want to be a sued for allowing demolition of the twin towers while having full knowledge that the buildings were loaded with asbestos (cancer causing) and eas told the only way he would not be sued would be either destroyed by act of god (storm or earthquake) or terrorism. The architect who designed the buildings, made them both earthquake-proof resistant against multiple hits by full size passenger planes, as the architect defended himself after 9-11 that there would be no way the building would have collapsed, because of the way it was designed to sway and bend, which it did in windy situations, but immediately a gag order was placed on him unofficially, in the same way the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) was ordered not to publicly defend themselves and not say anything about the fact the steel used in the buildings were rated to withstand well over twice the heat the airplane fuel could have ever produced. In spite of all knowledge that the buildings were due for demolition or a very expensive billion dollar asbestos clean-up, one of the chosen people, Larry Silverstein (Juliani's buddy), leased the buildings for ninety-nine years, knowing well he could not nake money on the deal, unless he was in on it with the Feds (israeli demolition team) where he would insure the buildings against terrorism by plane crashing into the buildings, knew in advance he would make money on the deal, some of which probably donated to Israel as Tom Hanks and Stephen Spielberg do with their excess money,
      was well prepared to make billions of dollars with confidence by Juliani from the deal by ensuring the buildings against terrorism by plane crash, and in return Silverstein would sign on the dotted lines everytime he was to do a favor for Pentagon. The 9-11 commission ruled in favor of Larry Silverstein and the insurance companies could not use "inside-job" as probable cause by the fear from Pentagon, they had to pay and they paid double, as court ruled in favor of Silverstein that two separate attacks and not just one single attack, Larry cashed in billions of dollars on a 90 million dollar investment. This is not ever talked about in the media, just as the 4000 Jews who didn't show up to work on that day, not a single Jew called up a TV station report an upcoming emergency at the twin towers, to let everyone know it isn't safe to go to the twin towers. And that's not to ignore the 5 Israeli men who danced ad they witnessed the first plane hit the tower as they had obviously prepared with a telescopic lens camera. This celebration dance was reported to the Police, they were arrested, bomb related paraphernalia was found, spent no more than 48 hours before they cordially were sent back Israel. That is all part of what Juliani was involved in, is what no body in US Government has the guts to discuss. When Bill Clinton was asked by an average citizen in a TV broadcast forum, if he thought the 9-11 was an inside-job, ge strongly denied it by saying, "Shame on You," with that southern accent. One other time Bill Clinton said those words, was to Jerry Brown at the end of their debate, when Jerry said to Bill, "you're just one of them," which then Bill Clinton got angry and said, "Shame on You!" With the emphasis on the pronunciation of YOU with that deep-Southern accent which apparently comes out when he feels caught hos tail in a trap. That's how corruption is so prevalent. If Biden can do anything substantial with all these corrupt parasites around him, it would be a miracle. Coming soon, "Trump TV, sponsored by FOX and Disney, probably.

    The funniest part about Pulgasari is that the monster is a very clear metaphor for revolution. He is created to take back the land from tyrants, which he does by eating iron (which includes swords) to get bigger, but once the land is cleansed of tyrants the movie *continues.* The monster basically becomes a tyrant himself, demanding the farmers feed him their tools in tribute or he'll start wrecking shit.
    It takes some real balls to make a movie condemning North Korea, for North Korea, while having been kidnapped by North Korea.

      That can be easily done. There's a great charity called Flashdrives for Freedom which smuggles Flash Drives into North Korea containing Video of everyday American life and Media (including popular American TV shows). Most North Koreans have access to a device with a USB port and as explained by a past North Korean defector, North Koreans need to
      receive an accurate picture of the West instead of the propaganda pushed by their government. You can help by donating your old used flashdrive to Flashdrives for Freedom and they'll make sure it gets to North Korea.

      bimmjim Is this is reference or something? Because if so it flew way over my head.
      And technically it's called a Trema; an Umlaut is also a Trema, of course, but a Trema doesn't have to be an Umlaut. It depends on how it is used, as different languages use it in different ways. So calling all dots above letters Umlauts is a bit of a misnomer. The more you know 🎶🌈

      @CrossfacePanda 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      bimmjim Don't get why you won't write in English when we're all discussing in English here, but sure, the name was pretty German sounding, but more countries than Germany have people with German names, both first and last names. And in countries where we have the letter "ö" for example, its not necessarilly called an umlaut.
      Educate yourself before speaking; I'd suggest you start by learning to write in English when the conversation calls for it.

      *No, China is unwilling to cooperate because they are funding all the missile tests, providing strategic resources like oil directly to them through a pipeline...* And few people know, it takes 2 years of saving up to buy a shoddy rusty bicycle in North Korea, so the only people using oil for any motor vehicles are the military. China is NOT helping the North Korean people, in fact, they take in hordes of escapees and put them on secret slave labor, and if their output is too meager, sell them back to North Korea.
      Any time *China feigns being economically hurt at all by sanctions is done on the hope that dumb Americans would actually believe* North Korea actually trades with China on any meaningful scale, when North Korean economy is smaller than... *Birmingham, Alabama.* Yes, a single small American city with less population than 1% of the entire population of North Korea.

    The U.S. has around 6,800 nuclear warheads. Let’s consider one scenario in which, oh, say just for the sake of speculation, the U.S. launches 100 or so missiles at North Korea. We might not launch nearly that many nukes if we actually decided to do this and different strategic targets would need to be hit with different types of missiles and warheads, and they’re likely going to be hit with multiple warheads to make sure they’re damaged beyond all repair. Plus, the president has full autonomy over the nuclear football and in theory, could order as many strikes as he feels necessary. But 100 missiles is a large, round number and is a common enough refrain to consider.
    They’ll take about 35 to 45 minutes to hit all their targets and it’s extremely likely that every one will go off exactly as expected since American nukes are precisely engineered and thoroughly reliable. After a hundred mushroom clouds will dissipate, some really, really bad things will start to happen at a fairly rapid pace. North Korea will be in ruins, and while it won’t glow with radiation, its territory will be lethal to any living thing. A smaller strike will leave patches of relatively safe territory in the mountainous terrain, but as North Korea occupies almost exactly the same land area as Pennsylvania, there’s not much room to hide, so a stiff breeze can cover survivors under a fallout cloud very quickly.
    After the initial burst of gamma rays created by the blasts, the heavy elements from the fission primary, the uranium spark plug, casing, and tamper, will mix with the air currents generated by the heat of the nuclear fireballs and come down as a black, sticky rain after about 40 minutes to an hour. This is exactly what happened in Hiroshima, but that was one explosion. The combined soot and heat from 100 blasts would be like a massive volcanic eruption, except it would also be far, far deadlier. Depending on the weather conditions, it’s not out of the question to see black rainstorms across the entire region.
    And herein lays the problem. The affected region would include our frenemy China, our rival Russia, and our allies Japan and South Korea. Radioactive particles will spread across the Northern Hemisphere, ending up in Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and the Canadian Pacific Coast. The fish many nations around the Pacific Rim rely on for food would be killed or contaminated. Tens of millions will be poisoned or sickened, and even several generations down the line, there will be numerous birth defects and cases of aggressive cancers as lower intensity fallout takes its toll.
    Even worse, about 100 W88 detonations, or bombs like this, are more than enough to start nuclear winter. Yes, that’s right, things are about to get worse. As the radioactive soot travels across the world, carried by currents high in the atmosphere, it begins to blot out the sun, cooling the planet. While this could temporarily stop global warming, it will also collapse countless food chains, and guarantee failure of harvests blighted with the unstable isotopes raining from the sky, then denied sunlight, even after replanting and disposing of the contaminated soil to start rebuilding.
    Our enemies may be dead and dying, but we and our allies will also have to deal with the fallout, the nuclear winter’s decade or so of hungry years, and the long term residual effects of being irradiated. Over 371.8 million people live in the region in question, and a tens of millions more could also feel the effects of the fallout and food shortages. It’s hard to estimate how many will succumb because that depends on numerous factors like the wind, weather, and the timing and precise location of the explosions, but it will certainly be in the low eight figures at the very least.
    A smaller strike would stave off nuclear winter and lessen the possible long term casualties from the disruption of the food supplies. However, given the population density of the region, the death toll would still be in the tens of millions and spread to our allies. There could still be regional climactic and weather disruptions, and even though they would disappear within years rather than decades, they could still cause enough collateral damage to be extremely troublesome for recovery efforts. We’d be in uncharted territory and all we’d have to go by would be theoretical models.
    What we can say for sure is that our allies in the region will be the hardest hit while nations with which we don’t have the best relations will suffer the side-effects of the bombing and be very unhappy about. Northeast China, which borders North Korea, is home to almost 165 million people. South Korea has over 52 million people in its territory and its capital will feel the direct brunt of the black rain and gamma rays from Pyongyang’s destruction. Japan’s will be hit with the dangerous soot from the blasts as well.
    It’s very likely that Seoul will not be looking at Washington as an ally for the next few generations, and neither will Tokyo. Beijing and Moscow would be seething over their citizens being irradiated and threatening to launch their missiles at America’s West Coast’s citizens, who would now be very likely to suffer a number of long term effects from the debris that will travel across the ocean on a much larger scale than it did from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So, to borrow the most popular saying of 2017, it will be a shit show, with a decent chance of World War 3 erupting in the aftermath.
    Keep that in mind next time a certain cable news addicted senior citizen with an unhealthy interest in why we can’t just use nuclear weapons to make our problems go away gets in a Twitter beef with someone who actually has nukes and very little to lose if attacked.
    In 1945, when the United States still had a monopoly on nuclear devices which were limited to about 20 kilotons, and there was an all out war between two nations, using the bombs made sense. However, we live in an age when we can set the world ablaze with the push of a button, typical warheads are 20 to 50 times more powerful, and not just the United States has them, so there are now consequences for their use.
    And that’s probably what the people who think that it would be a great idea to preemptively nuke another nation refuse to grasp. The world has changed and so has the political calculus of using these weapons. We are not untouchable, we will be inviting another global war if we strike first, and even if we could avoid retaliation by a combination of missile defense and extreme diplomacy, the fallout from a massive nuclear volley will come back to haunt us over the medium and long term. So unless you have a luxury space habitat, or another world you can jump to after you press that button, nukes are the last resort of a nation with its back against the wall, not a weapon of choice, which is why this is the doctrine of just about every member of the Nuclear club.

      You know you are one of the very few people who understand the consequences of a nuclear fallout because its not the explosion that causes most death but the aftermath I.e radiation, radioactive soot, posioned water, food. Single nuclear strike will have effect on south korea,Japan and China. Also all other neighboring countries which might lead to nuclear war

    • @acbthr3840
      @acbthr3840 6 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      You're perhaps overestimating the effect of nuclear fallout specifically. The kind of nuclear bombs used in ww2 were uranium fission bombs that used up only a small fraction of their fuel mass, leading to a lot of nasty dust getting released and sticking around for years. Modern bombs use fairly tiny fission charges to initiate the fusion of a container full of pure deuterium or the like and are very clean, generating little radioactive byproducts. 100 minuteman missiles would certainly not produce anywhere near enough radioactive dust enough to kill off any significant amount of ocean life or render even small areas of land uninhabitable for more than a year or two at most. Might give 100,000 people cancer a decade down the line though. Anyone near enough to the bombs when they detonate to get radiation poisoning from gamma and/or neutron radiation would easily be incinerated by the heat and/or killed by the actual blast.
      Also something like nuclear winter is not a localized phenomenon caused by radiation or anything like that. Quite the opposite. Its dust from the ground being vaporized and getting stuck high up the atmosphere, reducing light/radiation transmission to the ground from space/the sun. So in fact, the sky across the entire planet would darken with dust from a large nuclear strike, affecting far more than just the area being hit and reducing vegetation and crop growth everywhere.

    • @Betrix5060
      @Betrix5060 6 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      No, you are definitely overestimating the amount of fallout and debits which would be created. If what you are saying was true then above ground nuclear tests, of which there have been hundreds, would have had a death toll ranking in the millions. Not the tens of thousands that it actually caused. Nuclear winter is also highly improbable. The prediction relied of an assumption that firestorms would be widespread and intense enough to create massive amounts of ash, soot, etc. The problem with this is that there is far less to burn than there was during WW2 where neither the massive firebombing campaigns nor the nuclear strikes caused anything close to what would be needed to actually create nuclear winter, a nuclear autumn at most. You also need to factor in when the strikes occur, what season it is, and use of air burst warheads which would produce vastly less radiation and firestorm than a ground level detonation would. I would also restate Acb Thr's point regarding the increased efficiency of modern warheads as that undermines the credibility of any fallout predictions which relies on Little Boy and/or Fat Man as precedents.

    No one is going to read this, but those students playing "Take On Me" on accordions were not doing that in N. Korea. They were on a "good will" tour in Europe at the time and the the European guy who recorded it, taught them the song. Frankly, they probably didn't even know what they were playing. The real question is what happened to those kids after they got back home only to find out that the evil Western pop music is frowned upon?

      Never heard something so beautiful on the accordion. The band a-ha is actually Norwegian so I think they're ok.

      Yeah man, they never chose this life. It's really shameful how so many people confuse a country's government with a country's PEOPLE, who quite often do NOT agree with their government at all. We don't get a choice in where we happen to be born...

      North Koreans are fine, they just need to have less embargo so their economy can get better (it's already above average still) and get less threats of invasion and nuclear war all the time so they can spend less money in the military and time in military service.
      So stop the threats of invasion, like the mock joint invasion the US/SK army does every year as a ritual on the North/South border.
      Stop the economic sanctions that everyone should know target the people directly.
      Pay reparations for the invasion in the 50s and compensate for the loss of 3 000 000 people and the utter destruction of entire cities.
      Finally, end the occupation of South Korea, leave not one military base standing and stop the sabotage of their peace talk attempts with the South and allow the country to be reunited finally after 60+ years of US occupation.
