This expansion had some of the most beautifully crafted, emotional stories of any expansion before it and since. While not perfect in gameplay, the story was there. I loved WOD.
Its a shame that the story wasn't "definitive" tho with the many cut content (which still contained story elements) e.g. Farahlon or the scrapped Ogre contintent which I wanted to learn more about the ogres

Warlords is one those expansions that had so much untapped potential. I really enjoyed the levelling of it but the end game lacked, i liked what they did with the daily quests for Apex Crystals but it got very tedious, they really improved on it in Legion, making it more Diabloesque on that part with their objectives and bounties across the whole map instead of two locations where the only thing you did was "go here and kill until the meter is full." The biggest problem it had, was that it was abandoned by blizz in their effort to rush an expansion a year which to put it bluntly was doomed to fail before it even began if they were going to keep it good. I don't hate Warlords but its not one of my favourites, though i recognise it for what it is, a failed attempt at something interesting. I liked the idea of parallel worlds, they had tapped into that before with the Infinite Dragonflight but never really more than a glimpse. But i just hate how much was left unfinished, how much was cut from the game due to them shifting priorities way too soon. I both liked and hated the Garrison, on one hand, not being completely reliant on others to get crafting materials/gear was a nice time saving feature but it cut off alot more of the Social aspect of the MMO. The story hooks that went unfinished, the Alliance garrison that had been slaughtered heavily implying that Wrathion had been there and caused it all just stopped with no explanation or true ending and then suddenly a necromancer at the end. Just so much that just never gets an end either good or bad. The expansion had major potential but the ball was dropped big time.

The first time I watched Maraad sacrifice himself I broke down in tears. Truly an example of how a dreanei paladin should be in the end. He sought to redeem himself for his failure to protect his people. He saw a chance to make things right and he did, but made the ultimate sacrifice to make it happen.
Wod had great potential. Art direction is crazy amazing imo, and if only the rest of the expansion could have been as epic as that opening questline. I realize from a dev pov that's asking a lot but still a man can dream!

This expansion, by far, is the most interesting to me. I came back years after it was in its prime so I didn't have that experience. And when I leveled up my character I went through the ten levels of the zone quickly to max out my character, but this story to me, exceeds the rest and is the one I'd want to know more about in terms of lore. Everything else, the Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Legion and obviously Mists of Pandaria don't come close. I know Wrath of the Lich King is loved by almost everybody. I was there during its prime.
This was the only explanation I was selected as an early beta tester for. The story was always very strong and I always hated when the 'cinematic not available in beta' massage would pop up. Garrisons were reworked toward the end of the beta. Before they were reworked the plan was to have two new capital cities and the player's garrison be somewhat akin to your farm in MoP. Nice for resources and dailies, but not your major base of operations. After they removed the new capital cities' functionally it became very easy to self isolate and miss out on exploring and experiencing Dranor.
The only drawback to WoD was that it was too short. There really should have been an additional Raid Instance between Blackrock Foundry and Hellfire Citadel. With only 2.5 raid-tiers, this expansion had much more potential, but was rushed to completion too quickly.
Potential, that's the thing I thought with WOD, it had so much potential, it's not what I would call awful now that it's fully out but well...the story and lore are the only real neat things, and even those suffer because it got rushed out the door so bad, WOD is a clear example of what happens when you think with your bank account before anything else in a game company.
Sadly blizzard erase the legendary quest of garona and the ring, they could had nerfed the item (ring) or the follower to allow us played the story in lore terms. Hope they reconsider that someday as well as wrathion quests in MoP.

I have been guild RL since 90. in WoD, my guild members actually had a pretty a good time in Highmaul and Blackrock Foundry. Boss fight design were at a satisfying or impressive level. It was a really poorly planned expansion, but holy hell I LOVED the leveling zones and that it scaled with level! The only part that made it really bad in my eyes were that the final raid was released 1 year before the next expansion was gonna be released. Again, really nice video my dude!

i'm glad you made these videos. im slowly watching them by expansion, because WoW itself has issues with cutscenes and Cinematics. where it disconnects you. i've played for years. and there's always been bits of story i've missed. because WoW doesn't have a built in video player to re watch cines you have unlocked. *thumbs up*
Love this video, especially the scenes of Ga'nar and Velen. Really good job. The only thing that bothers me is the battle of Thrall vs Garrosh. I thought Mak'Gora is a battle of muscle and a weapon of your choice (and possibly the weapon blessed by a shaman). Thrall suddenly calls upon the elements for their power and uses magic to finish Garrosh.
Late reply, but as far as I am aware, the Warcraft movie is the only place that claimed no magic could be used in Mak'Gora. The books and games never mentioned any such restriction.
How amazing is Grommash? He started as their greatest foe, hellbent on conquering Azeroth, merciless and cunning. And yet, at the end after seeing his iron horde stolen by Gul’dan, he told him it would not be his horde who would murder the crap out of the legion. Instead he revealed his admiration and respect for the Alliance and the Horde. A true warrior who can respect and admire his bitterest foes can become the fiercest of allies.
Alot of people didn't like WoD, and it isn't my favorite expansion. But I had some the best times raiding in WoD. I had some really great times, Frostfire Ridge is still my favorite zone in the game!
hey, im allicance player and im stucked at the story. my last cinematic was the garnison level 3 sequence (at 59:29). after that i built some ships and explored tanaan. but idk where the story is continueing? do i have to put my shipyard to level 2 or 3 to be able to continue my story? please help me out.
Unfortunately that's all there is to it. Tanaan is the last zone and it has no cinematics. What you saw at 1:01:06 and 1:03:24 are the trailers for patch 6.1 and patch 6.2. You can experience the last bit of the story by playing the Hellfire Citadel raid on Tanaan. Though I would suggest you just continue your adventures to Legion content

It's just sad that this expansion built up so much hype and so much promise for it to fail and not deliver like we hoped it would. We were cut short on content, and lied to by Blizz (yet again) and this expansion had it's high points but it wasn't enough to outweigh the lack of content we had to deal with. We missed out on at least 1 entire raid tier between Blackrock Foundry and Hellfire Citadel, as well as an entire part of the map that was never given to us either. They can chalk it up to "not having enough time" but that's a bullshit excuse, don't release the damn expansion if it's not going to give the players at least half of what you said they'd get. I was overall disappointed by this expansion PvE wise, PvP had consumed me for pretty much the entirety of the time I played and I don't at all regret that decision.
Just out of interest, if wow doesn't want to release more expansions, maybe they would go back to remaster the expansions as they are running out of ideas

I've been playing wow since BC and I've never followed or given any sort of interest towards main story lines or any content in general really, when shadowlands comes round I think I might start paying attention, this shit was pretty cool to watch.
Loved this game. Spent an entire 340 days played time, learnt so much about strategy thinking, but it ruined my education. Sold my 70th level hunter, female troll for 400euro and moved on.

i'm glad you made these videos. im slowly watching them by expansion, because WoW itself has issues with cutscenes and Cinematics. where it disconnects you. i've played for years. and there's always been bits of story i've missed. because WoW doesn't have a built in video player to re watch cines you have unlocked. *thumbs up*
Love this video, especially the scenes of Ga'nar and Velen. Really good job. The only thing that bothers me is the battle of Thrall vs Garrosh. I thought Mak'Gora is a battle of muscle and a weapon of your choice (and possibly the weapon blessed by a shaman). Thrall suddenly calls upon the elements for their power and uses magic to finish Garrosh.
Late reply, but as far as I am aware, the Warcraft movie is the only place that claimed no magic could be used in Mak'Gora. The books and games never mentioned any such restriction.
Magic is not forbidden in the Mak'gora. Otherwise only warriors would ever challenge or accept.

How amazing is Grommash? He started as their greatest foe, hellbent on conquering Azeroth, merciless and cunning. And yet, at the end after seeing his iron horde stolen by Gul’dan, he told him it would not be his horde who would murder the crap out of the legion. Instead he revealed his admiration and respect for the Alliance and the Horde. A true warrior who can respect and admire his bitterest foes can become the fiercest of allies.

Alot of people didn't like WoD, and it isn't my favorite expansion. But I had some the best times raiding in WoD. I had some really great times, Frostfire Ridge is still my favorite zone in the game!
This was one of my favorite expansion just the new map was so buetifull and great speacily the story in each part

hey, im allicance player and im stucked at the story. my last cinematic was the garnison level 3 sequence (at 59:29). after that i built some ships and explored tanaan. but idk where the story is continueing? do i have to put my shipyard to level 2 or 3 to be able to continue my story? please help me out.
Unfortunately that's all there is to it. Tanaan is the last zone and it has no cinematics. What you saw at 1:01:06 and 1:03:24 are the trailers for patch 6.1 and patch 6.2. You can experience the last bit of the story by playing the Hellfire Citadel raid on Tanaan. Though I would suggest you just continue your adventures to Legion content

It's just sad that this expansion built up so much hype and so much promise for it to fail and not deliver like we hoped it would. We were cut short on content, and lied to by Blizz (yet again) and this expansion had it's high points but it wasn't enough to outweigh the lack of content we had to deal with. We missed out on at least 1 entire raid tier between Blackrock Foundry and Hellfire Citadel, as well as an entire part of the map that was never given to us either. They can chalk it up to "not having enough time" but that's a bullshit excuse, don't release the damn expansion if it's not going to give the players at least half of what you said they'd get. I was overall disappointed by this expansion PvE wise, PvP had consumed me for pretty much the entirety of the time I played and I don't at all regret that decision.

This Level of Artistry is Excellent!!!! Please Keep this type, don't Water it down, like so many others , once they are more Famously acknowledged. Well The Beginning Was EXCELLENT, But the Rest is WATERED DOWN. DAMN. Is There a Possiblity to do a Entire Movie Just like the Beginning of this, the Intro?
I've been playing wow since BC and I've never followed or given any sort of interest towards main story lines or any content in general really, when shadowlands comes round I think I might start paying attention, this shit was pretty cool to watch.
Loved this game. Spent an entire 340 days played time, learnt so much about strategy thinking, but it ruined my education. Sold my 70th level hunter, female troll for 400euro and moved on.
