the swans at bishops palace were trained originally by servants .years ago to ring a bell and get fed , and the swans now still do this ..amazing. we visited here in the summer solstice when we stayed in glastonbury.

What stunning architecture and views! That's a dream trip for me. While I lived in England for 4 years in the early 80s, I was in the US Air Force so I didn't get to see all I wanted to see. I wish I had the funds to spend at least 6 months in England traveling around and visiting all the places I missed. Thank you, so very much for taking me on this tour. England has always seemed like home to me, and the majority of my ancestors were from the United Kingdom. Happy New Year!

Hi, as a second generation Australian, I loved this. I have not yet visited England, but felt positively homesick!

I love these videos. Ive been to England once when I was 10. My dad was doing geneological research and I didn't appreciate the visits to all the graveyards and churches.
These places were beautiful. ❤ I hope you had wonderful holidays.

15:44 Swans calmly swimming in neon light. 🖤
I neither had any idea I would ever see such a thing, nor how magnificent it would be! Love this.
And I love this entire video. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful trip with us!
I'm sure vlogs and travel videos are an extra lot of work, so thank you even more for making them, and letting us see such magical places! The UK really is a special island. If I ever went that far north again, I wouldn't even know where to start.

Montecute is definitely a Summer place...another NT property, not far from Montecute is Lytes Carey Manor. It's much smaller, but is really beautiful with guides who really love the building, and are so enthusiastic. Wells Cathedral is one of my favouritest places, so much to see, and green men and beasts hiding all over. I'm lucky enough to live only about 15 miles away, so I'm a member and visit regularly. I've still not visited Tyntesfield to go in the house, but I have sung in the chapel, and that was lovely. Dunster is worth visiting on May Day, when the Minehead Obby Oss dances in the streets, and they crown the May Queen at sunset in the Castle courtyard. It's lovely to see your take on my adopted home county. All the best to you for 2024, and thanks for the great videos.❤

I love seeing your trips to Somerset, it's so nice to see places I know so well, loved by others and visited again through their eyes. I've lived near Bath since the 90s and I can say that I have visited every single place you showed in this video (some multiple times due to their proximity), even Barrow, though I only got there in 2022. We visited in July and it was still more sheep than people! Only three or four other families were visiting at the same time as us, and such spectacular views. It's definitely worth spending a whole day in Dunster in the summertime so you can go to the mill too. If you don't mind walking up hills a bit there is also the Long Barrow in Stoney Littleton, which is worth an hour of your time! ❤🧡💛💚💙

Most fascinating, and the shoppes in Glastonbury seem like the perfect real world version of Diagon Alley. The leather tapestry is fascinating as well.

The downside of going to Somerset to visit close family is that we spend too much time at their house or in a hotel. I’ve been going into Glastonbury for a few years now, either on the journey down or home again. But I have managed to specifically stay there a couple of times & we’ve gone to the frost fayre for the last 5 or so years. I’m trying to get physically healthier so I can go up to the tor, I managed St Nectans Glen back in July, that can’t be any less of a challenge than the Tor. I’ve not found the wells yet, that’s on my next weekend visit. I got my sister in law to meet me in Glastonbury a couple of years ago for the frost fayre, despite living 25 minutes away and going to the very nearby outlet village, she had never been to Glastonbury. My youngest niece absolutely loves the place. My sil really enjoys it too, unbelievably they had never seen border Morris dancers before!!! 😂. Now my sil knows exactly where to go for presents for me and my daughter, and by the looks of things, my mini me niece, who I’ve promised to take there in the summer.
As for other places, I’ve visited Wookey Hole. It’s a bit kitschy, but the caves are amazing. I would love to go to Cheddar Gorge & visit Wells. I would also like to do a leisurely A303 journey & take the time to stop at the long & kings barrows, Avebury, tye old camp (whose name escapes me) and see the Cerne Abbas giant, which apparently isn’t far from my sil’s. My brother sent me a picture of it whilst out on his motorbike. He didn’t realise how close he lived to it.
One nice thing about going to the Glastonbury frost fayre this year, my sil warned that the bottom road had some flooding from the levels, so we went in from the top. As we rounded a corner at the top of the hill the Tor was floating above the mist that shrouded the valley. It was beautiful and I got some gorgeous photos of it. ❤

How wonderful to live in a Country steeped in such History , it's breathtakingly beautiful and magical.
