Not really made in Mexico. They were made in Germany and sent to Mexico for final assembly.
Didn't know that. 👍
Thank you for the advice and tip. I’m going to pin your comment to the top so others will see it.
Thanks for the mention on here fellas! See ya @ Jims!
Definitely a smooth running engine. Awesome to hear about all the details and see the military parts on it. Really cool 😎
Thank you my friend and thank you for commenting.
Nice car. Always liked the look of Things. That fold down seat/table is a sweet feature.
Yes, very cool car. I agree. I thought that fold down seat table was amazing. I didn’t even know they did that.
I really enjoyed that Evan. Thanks for sharing with us. Great video Slade.!!!
Thank you brother thank you for being being here. I hope you have a happy Easter.
Things are pretty cool. I've seen a white one and an orange one in my neighborhood last summer. They seem very fun to drive especially in summer.
I must admit it was a blast driving it. I didn’t do it too long. I didn’t want to bore anyone. I remember seeing one when I was very young. At that point it was probably six years old. Now I realize how rare they are.
Great video, Nice car Evan! Didn’t know you had so many VWs…. Nice collection
Yes, there’s a video on the channel, which is much longer. What a great collection.
These cars are so cool and so rare. I wish people restored them properly; I’ve seen so many butchered up examples. The floor pans are the same as a Ghia; wider. Surprised me on the Mexico manufacture; I would’ve thought Germany. In Mexico they call them Safari. I believe they also had a skid plate under the engine. They are the modern version of the German Kübelwagen from WW2. Love your neck of the woods, beautiful place.
Thank you for chiming in. I truly appreciate that. I definitely do not know enough about them. But with a cool car.
Great video. Thanks guys. I didn't get the hand thing until you said something. Duh 🤙
Thank you, my friend! And thanks for taking the time to always be here.
I had a 74 Thing as my first car in high school. I paid $300 for it in 1986. It was found in a field with no top on it. I had a 72 Super Beetle that never got on the road but used the front seats to put in the Thing. That car was the most fun I ever had in a car. I am surprised you guys didn't cover the easy door removal. Anyway, great video and that brought me back to a better time in my life.
I don’t see many of those. Great video
Thank you!
great cars and there are two types off engines for it. the AM and the AL. still have a case laying around for a AL. great Kubel that he has (called like that in Belgium)
Hey brother! Thanks so much for chiming in. I don’t know enough about them, but it was definitely a lot of fun.
nice job.
Thank you so much, Jim!
Looks like a nice car & a good time

How do you Agitate your rattle cans?
Hot water?
Reciprocating saw?
Power drill?
Or just leave them alone with @HeathersHaven and it’ll happen naturally.
lol!!! I usually take one of the bath towels from Heather, so get them hot water and wrap it around the can lol 😂
For some reason it looks a bit longer than a Beetle.
I really don’t know, that would be interesting. I should do some measurements out of curiosity.
25 years ago, the vw things were cheap to buy. Now they go for more than a bug. Regret not buying one years ago.😕
Same here. Another one was IH Scout, when I was young nobody wanted those and practically gave them away.
@Aux1Dub
IH scouts were rare up here in New England. Never saw one on the road.
I can’t believe where the prices went on them. Very cool cars, but now they are way out of my league when it comes the money.
Still fairly easy to find a solid driver for 10-12k. That's cheap in my opinion
@@headstonesandhistory I can buy a better vintage convertible for that kind of money.
