I have heard that anthem for the 1st time in the 2014 Fifa World cup Brasil game when I have played a qualification match with Australia against Turkmenistan. I think it's awesome but the anthems in that game sounds all minimal. So I have searched the anthem with better instruments on TH-cam....gosh I was right! One of my favourites.

Quarantine has me looking up random national anthems. I'm glad I did. This is hella beautiful and fun. It's like a mix of Greek, Russian, and Middle Eastern music. But then again Turkmenistan was controlled by Russia for most of the 20th century so I imagine that had a lot of influence.

This was interesting- European music adopted a lot of percussion and acknowledged it as "Turkish music", but listening to this I am reminded that music from the Turkic-speaking lands still has quite different approaches to tone and melody. All that aside, this was stirring stuff, music and lyrics both. Long life to Turkmenistan!

This is not anymore used than the current one because when Niyazov died, the anthem's lyrics was replaced on the chorus line from the "Turkmen Leaders" to "The People" by Berdimuhamedow. The chorus was removed on the first section of the anthem and the 3rd verse
