Master duel has destroyed this archetype. This was my favorite archetype in Yu-Gi-Oh but I can no longer use it to its full potential because Master dual has nerfed it. This might be a bit long but here we go. The malefic monsters effect which prohibits more than one from being on the field at a time can be negated with skilled rain because it only applies when it hits the field however the other effect which allows it to special summon itself applies when it's in the hand which means you can have a full board of malefic monsters. However for some reason master duel allows the effect which prohibits more than one from being on the field at a time to go through skill drain. konami judges have agreed that the malefic skill drain combo allows multiple malefic monsters to exist on the field at the same time. If Master will allow this to exist the deck would see more play and actually be a deck to contend against some of the other decks which do not allow players to even play because they utilize half of their decks turn one.
@Cringe Doctor I see you just skimmed through my comment instead of actually reading it otherwise you would have seen that I said it canno longer use its full potential and that the archetype has been nerfed both of which are true statements next time take the time to read instead of trying to rush to be that keyboard warrior.
I am currently playing Malefic and the problem is more like that they do require some setup and depending on your hand, 1 or 2 negates/destroys are enough. The level 1 malefic monster that searches for the gear and any malefic monster? Ash blossom. Or use the one trap that negates a monster effect... Or just destroy the field spell before it can use the effect. Skill drain? If you go second, you first need to set it and then wait a turn to activate it - Enough time for the enemy to destroy it. I currently play Malefic on my second account and I like that it is straight forward. But with all the negates, destroys and graveyard effects going on in MD, it won't have a high place. But I still enjoy it nonetheless :)
