    I have climbed in the alps up to 4000 metres and by god do you notice the lack of oxygen!! However, walking is very different from flat out physical effort on the ERG. Like the distance athletes that use altitude in a beneficial way the positive effects diminish rather quickly when you return to sea level. So you have to compete soon after descending to normal altitude to maximise the effect of altitude. As far as I am aware the physiological advantages do not persist for long after returning to your normal living ASL...........
    Another excellent vlog Cameron.
    Nice scenery too.

    Does it normally take that long to get a blood sample? And do you guys end up with callouses on your ear lobes after so many tests???
    Glad the camp is going well & keep yammin on it!!

      My ears have a tendancy not to bleed! On a good one it only takes a few seconds. Plus I was moving around alot!

    How long does it take for the body to adapt to the higher altitude? And how long does the “bump” last when you come back down?

    do you think rowing with a training mask which simulates altitude can be beneficial?

      There are masks out there that dont simulate altitude but they just make it harder to breath physically. Other methods can be similar though!

    What was she doing on your face after the erg?

      I think she took some blood from his ear to test it

      Dennis de Waard blood lactate testing

    • @CameronBuchan
      @CameronBuchan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yup, lactic acid testing. Little bit of blood from the ear. The face is because the legs are burning aftet the erg!

      Blood coming out of your ear after an erg session? That doesn't sound too pleasant haha

      Not due to the erging! Due to the little saber they use! Not quite a needle.
