    Hi everyone! Thanks so much for the positive feedback and encouragement I received on this video! It's nice to know you're not the only one who has an "off" bike day once in a while. Quick update: I've been out on several rides since I rode Longhorn in this video and I'm already feeling almost back to my old confidence levels again. The other thing I noticed, that some of you pointed out, was that my rear suspension had too much pressure (I had been fiddling around with it prior to the ride). That can really mess with the feeling of a ride! I'm going to be taking some time to re-tune my suspension and rebound and will let you know how it goes. In the meantime, enjoy your rides and don't be too hard on yourselves if you're not feeling 100% on your bikes.

    I get this, some days I go out and everything feels great and I ride well and then other days I’ve got no confidence and everything feels sketchy, it’s hard to put your finger on why it happens. It can be so frustrating. Thanks for sharing, it’s good to know I’m not the only one! 👍.😁

      Thanks for sharing too! It definitely can be frustrating when you don't feel as confident on a trail that you're usually "good" at. But it will probably feel totally different again next time you ride! Keep getting on the bike! 💪

    I had my first crash a short time ago. No idea what happened, but all of a sudden I'm halfway down a cliff. It really throws you for a while. Its good to see you getting out and having fun!

      I hope you're ok and back on your bike! It can really throw you for a loop, that's for sure.

      @@SprocketGirl it really can! I crashed mid-ride and had to ride out so luckily I could force myself into riding and making it seem ok again. I think if I'd walked out I would be much more nervous of it all.

    One of the reasons I love your channel is bz u r candid about the dangers of mountain biking and also about the fear that we all feel from time to time. Challenging your fear is empowering. Guys generally r less candid about such things and thus to me, at least, much less interesting. U might want to add elbow guards bz sooner or later u will need them. Also consider that timidity on the bike may be the result of over or under training.

      Thanks a bunch! It's really nice to hear that people appreciate it when you share your doubts or insecurities and it's not always just about crushing it and sending it. That's a good point about the elbow pads ... it's been on my to-do list to buy some. Do you have any suggestions for non-bulky, light elbow guards?

      WonderBike yeah... what is that? I keep thinking it’s just me that is aware that even if you are careful you can get hurt in a big way. My husband always says “you can get hurt doing anything” as if that’s supposed to make me feel more safe on a mountain bike. I’m sure I’ll gain more confidence the more I ride, but I wish more people were honest about the actual danger because i just feel like a big scaredy-cat out there.

      Sprocket Girl I use Fly Racing Lite knee and elbow pads. After several hundred hours they still fit fine, r comfortable, and r washable.

    Thanks for showing the crash and keeping it real. I actually learn a lot from watching crashes included. It looked like you went high to the right and overcorrected as you got to the left and your front wheel tucked under. Glad you didn't get hurt. 👍

      Thanks for watching this - I'm glad it's helpful to people if I include it. And yeah, that's pretty much exactly what happened!

    It's great that you put your "not so best" ride out there on vid for all to see because it happens to everyone. Most of us are alone or it's not immortalized on vid for public consumption.
    I'm sure you're already over it and back to your normal feeling on a ride or will be soon.
    Cool vid. Keep going!

      Thanks! It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing "off" days on the bike. I actually do already feel much more confident on my bike since that ride on Longhorn. It definitely helps to acknowledge having a bad day and then just getting on with it and focusing on enjoying being on the bike.

    Great video...i've learned its ok to not be ok. Especially facing a confidence challenge after even a small fall. The views on this trail are fantastic!

    • @SprocketGirl
      @SprocketGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's so true! Even a small crash can shake your confidence. It's important to acknowledge and be ok with that and then to get back on the bike!
      Yes, Longhorn and the White Ranch area are beautiful places! We're very lucky to live here and enjoy these trails!

    Glad I'm not the only one. I will say though, that sometimes it really does have partly to do with suspension settings and/or tire pressure. I know my bike pretty well now, so if it feels a little twitchy, the rebound or dampening feels off or maybe the tire psi isn't quite right I can kinda tell. My bike is very sensitive to small changes and it drives me crazy. Anyway, good on you for still cleaning some technical stuff. Any day on the bike is a good day 👍

    • @SprocketGirl
      @SprocketGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I actually checked the suspension after that ride because, like you said, it felt a bit off...and there was indeed too much pressure on the rear suspension from when I had tried to adjust it earlier. So I think this, along with my previous crash, contributed to not feeling entirely comfy on the bike.

    Ugh... I don’t know if I’ll ever feel confident on loose downhills 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m so slow on the downs. I’d so much rather suffer up a climb than get speed 😬

    • @SprocketGirl
      @SprocketGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally understand! I used to love climbing muuuch more than the downhill part, because I never felt very comfortable, especially on loose, rocky, steep downhills. And that's ok! Some people just like the challenge of a climb more than blasting downhill! For me, participating in my race preparation course really helped me feel more comfortable and gain more confidence on the descents, and now I really enjoy them! I'm still working on my cornering and bike-body separation skills and on feeling comfy with higher speeds, but it's a work in progress!

    I hate to say it but at 6:00 both of you are way too far back. I recommend focusing on the knee versus the foot when the knee is behind the foot the front wheel doesn’t have enough pressure.
    A good neutral stance has you standing upright if the bike were to disappear. Looking at that 6 minute mark you're both sitting on a couch.

    • @SprocketGirl
      @SprocketGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip! It's always helpful to be aware of your stance.
