You can make one pattern and
calculate the length of the rope reduced.
If you are going to use a 3mm rope,
you should use a longer wooden stick.
Refer to the “TUTORIAL macrame
diamond pattern 1, 2” in my videos.
I worked on them with 3mm cords.~~

I just found your channel, and oh how I love your work! I'm old, and in the 1960s and 70s; macrame' was very popular... i didn't have the time or space to dedicate to it, but now I do, and this is exactly what I was looking for for my room dividers! I am a knitter; and this pattern looks like intricate cable knitting. I need to make two of these; each 36-40 inches wide... this initial pattern measures by your rod dimension; 40 cm; which is a little over 15 inches... how do I measure the right amount of cording to make it the width I want; which is 36-40 inches ( 101.6 cm)? Thank- you so much for sharing your amazing talent; and making such great tutorials!

The length of the rod is 40cm.
If you want to use a rod about 100cm,
you need longer cords.
I recommend you using a thicker rope
because the work will get bigger.

The beginning of the video shows one with a “v” shaped bottom and one with the bottom straight across. Can you tell me how long the cords are for the one that’s straight across?
You can use the cords like this.
Big diamond pattern : 400 cm
Small diamond pattern : 300 cm
No pattern : 200 cm

I was so excited to try this. Bought the cording, cut it, hung it, and can't even make the first knot. I'm so confused.

Why don't you watch some other youtube videos where the teach you how to make the basic knots before you begin a project like this? This is not really a beginners project.
