Parents dont necessarily need to stay together for the kids. There are many examples of how co-parenting can work. Even if either partner was abusive to one another. It's a deep subject because there are many that come from parents who chose to stay together for the kids but now that those children are adults it actually has done a lot more damage to them going forward. Only visible when they enter relationships.

My parents “stayed” for the kids and all that means is the fighting never stops and your children will never know peace. 💔
Once you're married with children it's not about yourself anymore. It's about what's best for the child which is a nuclear family.
