Marcin Patrzalek I would say it's because he recognises the feel of the song, the drops, the fat hits and drums accordingly very well. I didn't really think of it, and I've been playing drums for about 10 years now, but I can see what you mean, he did perform very well.
+Darius Mann Kurt was very talented indeed, he just spammed the same 3 chords and repeated the same lyrics, he was famous because his music lacked talent and it was just honest. He made honest music, talented however, he was not. He did not play many instruments and do everything himself, he needed drugs to write music. Where as this guy is a different story. He definitely has influence from K.C, don't talk like a ignorant person. K.C was one of the greatest musicians of all time, for making honest music! Music that you wouldn't have to be a prodigy to make.
Kinda makes me think of a reincarnation of Kurt Cobain (by the looks if anything). Great performer with a unique voice! When I'm really down and need a kick in the butt to get my shit together, I watch this. 60% of the time, it works all the time!
Minus that last part of the 2nd verse, definitely one of the best live performances of this song. Anything they lack in perfect pitch they make up in pure energy. I like this song. If you do too, you might want to check out the movie soundtrack 'The Last of the Mohicans', its main track is an instrumental version of this song (and predates this version). Or I would suggest Dougie Maclean's version 'The Gael' which is the original. Both available here on youtube.
Everyone rags on Awolnation saying they suck live.. Better than other electronic rock bands like imagine dragons and linkin park who pretty much play along to their cds.
BUT they still suck live. Everyone can sing and play correctly in studio, the real art happens on stage. Look on bands like Avenged Sevenfold or even Metallica, and you shall now what I mean.

This doesn't mean anything. I know how much it takes to record one song, and play all parts correctly. You dont feel any pressure in studio, cuz you can fail until the perfect version. You can't play each part again and again live, cuz... you can't - it's obvious.
