I just got mine today. I found the rear and center differentials were very tight, that could lead to motor or esc over heating. I plan to run to packs with out wheels to break in the differentials. its very well made and easy to work on.
Unfortunately I can see some kid getting this for Christmas or a BD and breaking a wheel on the first run. I know any RC can break on the first run but this model seems prone to early failures.

If the wheel is broken but other parts are not affected, it is better not to change the wheel to a stronger one (the reason is that if you change the wheel to a stronger one, other parts may break)

Hello thinking about a crazy build do you think a 8s lipo would fit in battery tray?
Was thinking to myself servo saver when it stoped turning on grass, same think happen to my Pirates 2.
Also before on 3S when you had steering but no power, tbh that generally happens on LVC, are you sure that battery you brought was actually fully charged/also test to see if was flat after, cause that would cirtianlly explain it 😂

I really like the zd racing shocks, as an alternative on cheaper cars.
But I wish the shocks came with a tiny bit harder spring, think I've tried all now except white springs. Do you know of or if the colour on them should represent stiffness, or if there is any other springs?

Yep seen it often weak wheels.
Trouble with the Badlands is their weight, they sap power, wheelies are not so easy, and turning not good with the weight again overworking the servo and the servo saver.
The standard badlands are pretty light tbh. It's the mx38 that weigh loads.
@@LawrenceTimme Agreed but with heavier wheels also you start putting on the pounds so performance suffer's along with their weak steering servo's.

Essentially the same chassis by the looks of it, maybe a different aluminium that isn't as soft for the chassis now.
A better set of braces for the front & rear shock towers that connect too the chassis, bit better body mounts, an actual front bumper.
Some minor aluminium parts that breaks fairly easily on the previous version.
(Previously had more plastic which helped about as well as you'd expect on a 1:8th scale monster truck...
Or pvc pipe rollcage in a fullsize car.
Like the chassis braces were useless being made of plastic on the pirates 2.

I know my ZD racing cars will shut down the drive if battery gets low. It doesn't slow down like most Vehicles it just loses Drive instantly. By the way ZD racing has some of the best shocks I've ever seen on RC cars. Really fragile Wheels though.
ZD range does suffer with terrible steering, firstly the servo is weak but even when I upgraded the servo the servo saver just allows for too much slip and does not transfer it to moving the wheels. I tightened up the adjustment all the way on the servo saver so it is locked and allows for no slip at all but the risk then is that any impact to a wheel will have nowhere to go but straight in to the servo. Bad design from ZD.

The price on these rigs is crap compared to what you can get for the same amount or a little more. I appreciate you showing that these are still sh!t. For the same price you can get the 3s arrma line or a dhk zombie and know you'll be able to run it with some type of confidence. When these were around 200 I saw the appeal but at over 320 u.s. no thanks...

This truck has turned into 1 of my favorites to run once I decided it's not good for jumping. Put these tires cheap ZD racing truggy tires. The tires and expectations have turned this into one of my favorite trucks to flat land speed run. I sh** you not it tears up ground and handles better than my Arrmas's for the ridiculous wheel base on it?? Tires are like 35 bucks, trust me it turns it into a really fun truck. It will have you giggling saying no way.
Glad to see the results of how durable this truck isn't. I was actually considering the Truggy version of this RC. That's a no for me dog. Overpriced junk. Too many weak points.

zd racing cars are not good quality, i've got the zmt10 and it always breaks somewhere.

Its not the price pf what you buy they all break,spend more on rc=broken parts and more money on parts to fix....trust me i have some expensive team associated,losi and traxxas all part of the hobby, they all break!!!!!
Great show of why I don't buy these Chinese trucks. All those issues and good luck getting warranty service for them. I'd rather spend a little more money and know I'll be taken care of if I have problems.
Why would you need warranty on a truck that you've smashed into the ground over and over. On rc cars once you take it out the box you are the warranty XD
The only thing you might be able to claim is for electronics overheating and dying but even then, if a rock get stuck in the fan it's hardly the manufacturer defect.
@@LawrenceTimme that's not true at all. Traxxas, arrma and redcat provide excellent warranty service. Yes there are things that wouldn't be covered such as a broken a arm from a bad landing. But whatever caused the motor to stop working (likely an esc issue ) definitely would be. I've had a couple claims in the past that could have gone either way (it could have been my fault but in the specific case it wasn't) and arrma and Traxxas took care of it without question.
@@DoRC that's nice of them. If I was them I would accept any claims unless it was a clear manufacturer defect.
I also wouldn't put a claim in myself unless it was a clear manufacturer defect. It's just making everyone with real issues have a longer wait time and also keeps the price of the trucks up of loads of people do it.

In my opinion customer service, higher quality components and availability of parts is what sets them apart from the banger specials. Ill spend the extra money for those things any day.

Crappy wheels and tires. Body made of cheap plastic. Esc issues? Hard pass for me if i decide to get a budget rc
I honestly can't blame you or anyone for making that choice after seeing the videos I've done on this truck. I will persist a bit more with it and give it one more try, so we'll see if it lasts a full pack or not.
Bad bad quality.Why bother with 2nd/3rd grade rc's when you have Arrma?
I'm always curious about other brands. Sometimes they do ok, other times not, but it's good to know what else is out there.
Quality of ZD is still pretty bad !
