This is one of the deepest songs ever. It fills your soul with peace, serenity, and comfort in a world filled with pain, anger, and grief. May it's light and message shine bright forever
I recently discovered this song this weekend, and literally every time I listen to it, I start crying because of how beautiful it. The words, the melody, the spirit of the song, the optimism, the mandolin, or what, but everything I hear it I cry and ask my self how this song can be so beautiful. I can't believe I'm 39 and just now discovering the Grateful Dead for more than Touch of Grey and Scarlet Begonias (which I think are two of the best songs ever)
This song has a special place in my heart 50+ years later from when I first heard it. My daughter grew up belting it out on road trips and she married a huge Grateful Dead fan. Their daughter’s ritual every night was having her parents sing Ripple before lights out. They took me to Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver to a Dead & Co show for my 70th bday. Love rock n roll although festivals take a toll on senior knees😂
My fiancé took his own life not long ago and he showed me the dead when we first started dating. He’d sing this song over and over with so many others because he was a singer… I listen to this and just hear him… bittersweet. During my panic attacks like today- I come listen to this (him)… ❤
This was one of my grandma's favorites. She was an amazing woman she sadly passed this year in January at 94 I believe. I miss her dearly and cant help but tear up when I hear this. I miss her every day more and more❤🙁
This song is just perfect, I Looove the Dead so much, a friend who introduced me to them told me “just listen, it’s impossible to feel bad wen listening to GD” wise words, I haven’t stopped listening since!!!
This was my dad's "brother's" (best friend, close family friend, my "uncle") favorite song. He died suddenly and unexpectedly years ago. I was very young but it deeply affected my eldest brother, seven years my senior. It's Uncle Stephen's birthday today, so in his memory my brother will sing this for him.
As this is the song playing on the radio when she (as Rusty) discovers that Rocky (played by Eric Stoltz) died in his sleep, and she destroys the kitchen and has a good cry over his passing.
This song would always remind me of a loved one that passed. Now it reminds me of a few that have passed. Ones that "rippled in still waters." May I always remember the blessing of their friendship when I hear this song.
Probably a song written for a friend who had died. You're not alive if you're not touched by this song. Thank you Jerry. RIP. To be played at my funeral.
@@msbevins101 Thanks. My initial comment was a little premature. When I posted that I got word that he'd been diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis and had too much brain damage to be treated. He finally passed at 6:30 this morning. He was 67 years old.
@@jaysoncornish4779 My son had it at 3 weeks of age, blinded him, left him non ambulatory, and with the mentality of 6 month old, he was'nt supposed to make it past 5, then they revised it said, 10, then again at 15, every time he got pneumonia I just knew it was his time to go, and that was because of all those Dr's who thought they knew more then God, they finally they admitted he'd outlive me. He passed 2 years ago, at 39 years of age and I never left his side, he was my rock, and now he's free to do the things he could'nt do hear on earth...
@@msbevins101 Sounds like my other client who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. First they said 5 years, then they said he wouldn't make it through high school, now he's in his mid 60s and still alive.
The ripple, you will feel, is the Divine Spark God put in your body. With patience, you may harness it and feel it charge up your spine, bursting forth like a fountain. It leaves your body, taking your conscience with it, briefly, to prepare your place in Heaven. This song is about salvation.
I grew up in the Baptist tradition and when I first heard this, I felt it wasn’t that far removed from “Because He Lives.” The main verses could easily lead to “Because He lives, I could face tomorrow…”
I wish I could have heard David Grisman and Jerry perform this song. I love their collaboration CD. Grisman is a remarkable mandolinist. Just like Sam Bush for progressive bluegrass
Thanks for the forecast! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (behave today finger ski upon boy assault summer exhaust beauty stereo over). How can I transfer them to Binance?
One if the many songs I sing to my son. I find it hard not to wanna sing Brokedown Palace after singing this. Gonna make a deadhead out of the boy yet. Lol
Do You Hear The Spiritual Truth in This Song ?? Don't Say All Rock Is Bad . I Grew Up with People who Threw Criticism At All Rock. Just Listen To This. And If You Have Any Feeling You Might Feel This Message In This Great Song. I'm Here and I'm Into Variety. Rock N Roll Has Value And Truth To Those Who Listen. Music 🎶 Touches The Heart and Soul to Those Who Listen.
Brian K Smith, I think of you everyday. I love 💘 you. I will try to live up to your values that you have shown. Wherever you are, I hope I am good enough to be on your softball team 🙏.
Every politician should be forced to listen to this song twice a day. Our problems as a nation would be solved if they eventually took even a tiny bit of this to heart
May be the most beautiful song ever written.

One of The Best Songs From The Grateful Dead and One of My Favorites Besides “Touch of Grey” Most Recently!
My Dad passed July 17, 2024 and he requested this to be played at his Celebration of Life!
"Let it be known
There is a fountain
That is not made
By the hands of men..."

This was the first song I heard after the news broke of Jerry's passing 😢 I still cry when I hear it

Great song by a great band.

The power ,kingdom and all the glory are God the fathers and his son forever. Glad I know them. God bless you
RIP Bill Walton. Your passing made me think of this song
Spirituality, humanity and hope, all wrapped up in a melody that never leaves you.
True Statement!

Just the anthem of Hippiedom! So moving and beautiful!

Have you listened to Nick Drake? And I'm sorry for your loss, but your road is longer, keep moving always 👊
Sorry for your loss. He's at peace now...

As someone's grandma, you touched me
She was blessed to have a grandchild like you! Lovely words. Bless you.
Forever one of their absolute best songs.. what a beautiful melody. Goes perfectly with the lyrics.
This song is just perfect, I Looove the Dead so much, a friend who introduced me to them told me “just listen, it’s impossible to feel bad wen listening to GD” wise words, I haven’t stopped listening since!!!
They have a skill in expressing wisdom in simple terms.

If I knew the way
I would take you home
In 2022, not particularly being a Grateful Dead fan nor even recalling this song, I woke up to this song in my head. Yes it is a beautiful song
❤️
Must be a XRP thing
Let there be songs to fill the air 🎼🎶❤️
I work with musicians and when they get down on themselves, I always remind them of that line.
I remember this song from the movie "Mask" with Cher..😢
As this is the song playing on the radio when she (as Rusty) discovers that Rocky (played by Eric Stoltz) died in his sleep, and she destroys the kitchen and has a good cry over his passing.
There is a road...no one may follow....Thank you for the music!

That mandolin is Perfecto...Bravo....
Probably a song written for a friend who had died. You're not alive if you're not touched by this song. Thank you Jerry. RIP. To be played at my funeral.
I have said this, many times.
Now, I don't think it needs to be played at my funeral.
It just IS.
Much love.

Back home we play this when someone dies. I just lost a caregiving client of 10 years who was a Deadhead and had to play this.
So sorry for your loss...

Amen. Truer words were never said. This song really brings you closer to God
Agreed
Finally after years of not knowing the title of this song, I have identified my favorite song by my mother's cousin's band.
Today I wish this song for my sweet niece Taylor… may she rest in peace❤🌹
Sorry For Your Loss and This Song is Amazing From The Grateful Dead!

We all shall walk that road eventually. In the meantime may we treasure one another and all we share.
each time I hear it, I think about Cher in the last scene of Mask
Me too! Love that movie
That scene made me fall in love with this song. It speaks to my soul, always has. If anyone has a wake in my honor, I’d like this song to play.
Between the melody and thoughtful lyrics.... perfect!
