I can't believe this came out 10 years ago. But honestly, 'Reachy Prints' and 'The Digging Remedy' are my two favourite and most highly rated LP's from Plaid since the beautiful solemn lost days of when Ed and Andy were The Black Dog.
Plaid is one of the most unique projects in the world (no exaggeration here). The melodic structures that the creators build are non-obvious, yet surprisingly consistent. These structures have the ability to create extraordinary mental impressions that no other music would evoke.
This is some typical polyrythmic that you can find in metal prog or jazz, but this is so new in electronic music and Plaid are doing it so smoothly! I'm a huge fan of this too.
Tekkonkinkreet soundtrack is one of my favourites of theirs. They did the Heaven's Door soundtrack too which has Tokyo Drive on it, one of their best songs. Check that out :)
i absolutely love this. i watched the northern lights in Iceland listening to reachy prints and it takes me back there every time i listen to it again.
+mendel lee What Plaid album would you reccomend I listen to when you refer to "classic Plaid" as I adore this track and would love to hear some more music in the same vein. Thanks
+DieMenschMaschine85 the album that this track is on is pretty good, Reachy Prints. I'm also a big fan of Scintilli. Those are recent, though, if you want more of the classic stuff, i'd recommend Double Figure and the Tekkon Kinkreet soundtrack. i also like a lot of the stuff on Spokes.
mendel lee Thanks for your reply an recommendations. I've listened to Reachy Prints and a little of Scintilli but I haven't heard Double Figure. I've heard one or two tracks from the TK soundtrack. Excellent, I'll give Double Figure a go. Thanks again!
+biokemical i thought i responded to this, but maybe i didn't - go find the tracks "At Last", "Eyen", "Where?", "White's Dream", "Assault on Precinct Zero". Also, "Tether", "Zeal", "Squance", and "The Launching of Big Face."
Lost me a bit after that too, but I've found going back after many years to listen again to the post Double Figure stuff has given me a new appreciation.
@@tcritt Where do you think you started relating to them again? I don't listen to a lot of their middle albums much (Heaven's Door, Greedy Baby, Spokes) but Scintilli and on is amazing imo, and of course there are great tracks in each and every one of their albums. I'm just curious.
“Oh it was gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh. The trombones crunched redgold under my bed, and behind my gulliver the trumpets three-wise silverflamed, and there by the door the timps rolling through my guts and out again crunched like candy thunder. Oh, it was wonder of wonders. And then, a bird of like rarest spun heavenmetal, or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now, came the violin solo above all the other strings, and those strings were like a cage of silk round my bed. Then flute and oboe bored, like worms of like platinum, into the thick thick toffee gold and silver. I was in such bliss, my brothers.”

Are these the same guys who did the soundtrack for tekkonkinkreet? This is beautiful
Yes. They are.
Tekkonkinkreet soundtrack is one of my favourites of theirs. They did the Heaven's Door soundtrack too which has Tokyo Drive on it, one of their best songs. Check that out :)
Plaid never cease to amaze me. The rest of the album is solid gold.

Nice. Wonder what I would listen to if I saw the northern lights. Probably this or some Boards of Canada
I saw the quiet Night throug my window
that's cool. same reason Double Figure takes me back to riding the train around Germany.
One of the best songs in the world
A track that has grown on me a lot how poignant and beautiful it is love the blend of chunky beats and melancholy - great artists
i love plaid, its the revolutionary and sublime art of the new generation of songs :D
I've been listening to Plaid since forever. So much amazing material over the years. But, Wallet is one of my favorites. I love this video as well.
This is definitely a future classic. It's just sublime. I keep coming back to it.

What are some of the classic Plaid songs from past albums?

Really love this track. They lost me a little after Double Figure. But this album is brilliant! I actually can't stop listening to it.
Their album Spokes is really really good too.
Lost me a bit after that too, but I've found going back after many years to listen again to the post Double Figure stuff has given me a new appreciation.

Pretty much in the vein of contemporary video aesthetics; with the glitchy 90s video effects and such. Nice work!
What an absolute classic. Seems to get even more gorgeous over time. Thanks, guys. Like, seriously.
Instant recognisable sound! Liking this. Makes me happy

There's no way you can catch them. They've gone Plaid.

The selling point. What if robots could make music? Love it
Nice nice nice 😉
