Not only would he want to keep the line of Slytherin going, he would want it to be a new Dynasty (he was very obsessed with fitting in with pureblood nobility, even called himself "Lord" Voldemort, so he would want this all to be public knowledge to further his status eventually once he was established in power in the wizarding world). Bellatrix, herself a pureblood noble (House of Black), a fanatic ideologue, the most powerful witch alive at the time, the chief lieutenant of the Death Eaters, and not at all hard on the eyes, would be the perfect person to partner with in establishing that dynasty. She'd basically be "Bellatrix, Queen of Slythrin"... which at the end of the day was essentially all she ever aspired to. United with her precious Dark Lord and with status above all his other followers. Heck, I wouldn't even put it past him to help her create a (singular) Horcrux for herself just to keep his most useful and most publically important supporter alive indefinitely. He sure was p*ssed when she died in canon... very p*ssed. He had plans for her that went way beyond the Battle of Hogwarts, that's my theory. Knowing what we now know about JKR and given that the only organized movement against against Azkaban was Voldemort’s crew, I’m starting to see Bellatrix and Barty Crouch jr in a new, less evil light. (Barty Crouch Jr was over sentenced and not given help bc of his complicated spoil in public/beat in private relationship to his dad, Bellatrix obviously has multiple neurological disorders). Voldemort used every struggle of his death eaters to get them to hate the muggleborn, even offering freedom to werewolves in exchange for support.
